Here is another chapter for you lovely people; hope you like it!

"What?!" The two male voices echoed through the room. One of the voices was filled with surprise and joy while the other sounded almost fearful and astounded.

Amy turned to look at them, in shock from their sudden outburst. Her eyebrows curved and arched in confusion as she repeated herself.

"I'll do it!"

The General's face practically erupted in a wide, ear to ear, school boy grin. It was as if he was a small child awaking on Christmas day. He was practically glowing in response. Unlike Shadow…

The ebony hedgehog stood with a face of stone as his stomach did flips at the thought of Amy working for G.U.N. In his view it was barbaric and ludicrous! This view was however not that noticeable on the monotonous male, except to observant jade eyes.

Although Amy noticed the change in tension in the room, coming from her friend, she did not have time to question it. Her new boss had stridden across the room to the cabinet in the far corner and was efficiently flicking through paper work.

His powerful voice echoed across the length of the office as he began to inform her of duties and tasks and everything else she's need to know in order to fully make this decision.

The echoing of the Commander's voice did not reach Shadow though. He was too busy secluded in his own thoughts of Amy.

The girl cannot work here! It is a dangerous job, surrounded by dangerous people and dangerous missions. She does realize she will not be given a desk job but expected to come out onto the field like Rouge and I… Then again, she will have us in her corner.

That's crazy! As if I will accept this. I have been working here far longer than most; surely I can influence a desk job? Though I know Amy would not approve of that when the alternative is working among friends. Hmph.

I don't want her to be endangered.

All this thinking had taken Shadow back to a few weeks ago when he had taken her home…

Amy had swiftly removed a bobby pin from her hair, while remaining clear focus on his crimson eyes as she worked her magic on the rustic looking door. The smirk had vanished from his lips and it had turned into a frown of shock and his brows holding an inquisitive position.

Then a smirk had started to form… On her rosy lips.

The male hedgehog had thought to himself, 'How did she learn to do that? God, she should work for G.U.N… On second thought...'

Now he was wishing he had never jinxed it. She had the capabilities and he knew this. It was just the risk element he wasn't keen on.

However, the mention of his name soon pulled him out from the depths of his mind, "Now, Amy, you do not have to fully agree to this position yet and there is still an awful lot for you to take in. Even after everything I have just said. So tomorrow I will send Shadow over to you with the required papers and documents and if you are still as eager then tomorrow you may sign away at the contract. You are both dismissed."

Amy curtsied before following her fast paced co-worker out the door and along the complicated path they had taken earlier as she joked, "I guess I should get used to the layout then ey?"

But her words fell upon deaf ears as they continued to walk, their pace increasing as Shadow practically stormed out. The poor girl struggled to keep up as she remained confused and rather upset at this bizarre behaviour.

Mental note to yourself Ames: if the clients I have to work with are anything like Shadow there is no way I am going to be able to do it! Can you imagine someone trying to analyse behaviour like this?!

Finally she had caught up to Shadow as he reached the outdoors and allocated his beloved black Harley. Without a second to spare she watched as her friend hoped on and revved it up, ready to go.

He never uttered a word to her. He never passed her the helmet. He never offered to help her get on. Instead he just sat glaring into the near future also known as the small space in front of his vision. And that's when Amy snapped…

"What the hell is wrong with you? Ever since he offered me that job have you been in this… this… s-s-stupid state!" She stuttered out in anger but it did not stop there.

"I would have thought you would have at least congratulated me or something! I mean I know you aren't a fan of words but you and Rouge were so happy to be moved to the same division, so what? Is it me…?"

His ears drooped ever so slightly as her words came pouring out. He had made her believe he was insensitive and rude and anything but proud of her. That placed a great level of shame on to him. However…

It sparked an idea into his head. It wasn't a master plan or something worthy of being called genius but Shadow thought it had potential and so he revved his bike once more before zooming off into the distance leaving the wind behind as a sign of his long gone presence.

The wind soared through her hair giving her appearance the same wild look as her emotions. Amy Rose was left stranded, alone, outside G.U.N headquarters with no way to get home and no longer a friend she could rely on.

Meanwhile, the speedy biker zoomed past cars as he made his way home. His heart was plagued with guilt but in his mind echoed one thought.

Hopefully now she will say no to working with me. Hopefully now she will be a fraction safer.
