Draco's POV
When she screamed her release, I couldn't hold myself anymore. I tried to keep most of my weight off of her, as I pulled us both to lay on our sides, and I tucked her protectively against me. I felt a swell of pride that I could make her eyes dilate like that, that hopefully for the rest of our lives, I would be the only one to hear her screaming her release. She was mine. And I was hers, and there was no denying that the two of us truly loved each other.
When I heard Kalili start to cry, I looked down to see my beautiful Hermione already asleep against me, and I untangled myself from her, lifting the blanket over her to keep her warm. I managed to find my boxers and slip them on before Kalili began wailing. I managed to pick her up and shush her before her mother woke up. I changed her and rocked her in the rocking chair that Molly had been determined to give us, and for once I was grateful. Kalili was so tiny, so beautiful, and I couldn't help but love her. There was no doubt that she was now mine. I didn't care who her biological parents were, yes, I was sad and sorry that Kalili would never know what a smart and wonderful woman her biological mother had been, but I had no doubt that Hermione and I would make sure to know that she was well loved, and when the time was right, that her real mother had loved her very much as well. And when she was old enough, I would sit her down and tell her what her father had done to her mama.
"You listen to me, Kali, I am your daddy, not that evil Weasley boy, and Hermione? She's your mama. She loves you so very much, and so did your mother." I kissed her on the head before noticing that Kalili and I were not alone in the room.
"I love you, Draco." Hermione whispered to me. I smiled at her. "Although, I would rather you didn't call her Kali..."
I started laughing, knowing about the Hindu Goddess. "What would you rather her nickname be?"
"Lili." I looked at Hermione, then down back at Kalili.
"Lili," I whispered, and Kalili reached her little hand out, and held the finger nearest her hand. I looked back up at Hermione, tears stinging my eyes. "I think she prefers her Mama's idea over mine." Hermione laughed gently before walking over, and pulling Kalili into her arms.
"Lili, you already have your daddy wrapped around your little finger. You should know that with great power comes great responsibility." Hermione leaned down and kissed the baby's head, and laid her gently back into her crib. "Come on," She whispered, "We should get some sleep. Tomorrow we get a second, smaller crib for our room, and a bassinet for the downstairs." And with that, the master bedroom became ours, and when we went to sleep, I slept better than I had in years.
Hermione's POV
Taking care of Lili was definitely no walk in the park. The months went by fast, and suddenly I realized what it felt like to not have much sleep. When I could get her down for a nap, I used that time to either shower or sleep. Draco did the best he could, and occasionally if he couldn't be here, he asked Ginny or Molly to come help me.
I appreciated the help where I could get it. I won't lie, I didn't think I could handle it as well as I would have hoped. But I guess that's because I wasn't exactly prepared for her. Draco adored her, and any time I went by her bedroom while I was cleaning, he was there holding her, and rocking her. She was never sat down for very long if he was home, unless she was asleep.
Christmas ended up being a rowdy affair. We ended up having the Weasley's over at my house, since it seemed to be larger. Molly had told me once that Ron asked if he could be taken out for Christmas day to spend it with his family. Gratefully she said no, for my sake, and for Kalili's.
I didn't have the time to buy anything for anyone. I did manage to get all the children something, and by now Ginny was pregnant again. A girl this time it seemed. I managed to knit new blankets for each little one. James ran around the room wearing his new blanket as a cloak, telling us all how he was invisible. I made sure that I took pictures of the whole event, and when Draco sat on the floor beside the tree with Kalili, opening her present with her, I couldn't keep the smile off of my face.
He had bought her a play mat, with little toy flowers, fairies and rattles that hung from it. When he had it all set up for her, and laid her down, you could hear her sweet baby laugh.
After the Weasley's and Potters left to put all of the children to bed, Draco pulled my present out of his pocket and handed it over to me. When I opened the small white box, what I saw nestled in it took my breath away. A small silver snake pendant, with green eyes, emeralds if I guessed right, wrapped around a lion with red eyes, the lion was in gold. They were in a lover's embrace. He pulled it from my hand, and took it out of the box, twirling me around. He nestled it against my chest before clasping it shut.
"I infused some of my energy into it so that I always know if you need me. When you are hurt, or scared, or in trouble. The moment I feel it, I will immediately be locked onto where you are, and will be able to apparate to you instantly." He said softly. "I leave for Hogwarts tomorrow afternoon, I need to be able to get to you no matter what."
I felt silly for having only given him a watch. A golden watch with a green face. When I had given it to him though, his face lit up. We had taken Kalili up stairs and laid her in bed, taking advantage of the couple of hours that we had to ourselves. We peeled each other's clothes off, one by one, slowly kissing and touching every inch of each other that we could reach. We showed each other how much we cared about the other, and how much we appreciated each other. I wasn't going to be very happy when he left, I wouldn't be able to go with him, having Kalili to consider. Hogwarts wasn't always as safe as it was said to be, and I wasn't going to risk Kalili.
