CR chpt 21
After a while of walking.
"How old is Shadow?!" Mári asks.
"Ten," Safire replies.
"Ten?! So I guess he hasn't aged much. Unlike Vaati and I were. We were the same age when we met, I had Shadow when I was 25, when I was 30 he watched me die! And Vaati is now over 2,000 years old," Mári says.
"Sad..." Safire says.
"What will you do with all of these prisoners once we get to the palace of winds?" Mári asks.
"Make them promise to be good, then let them go," Safire says.
"I'm not sure if they'll keep their promises, prisoners are unpredictable!" Mári says.
"It would be wrong to harm them..." Safire says.
"And some of us aren't even adults yet!" the young boy comments.
"let's let them go," Safire says.
"I agree! They seem to not be dangerous," Mári licks someone's hand.
Safire smiles.
"And we are forgiven that easily?!" the young boy asks.
"Well, what did you do?" Safire asks.
"Me? I stole a bottle of Chateau Romani from the market. They had no idea how I snuck in!" the young boy says.
"That's not that bad..." Safire says.
"Yeah, but they say I'm too young to drink and also that I stole it which they say is bad. So they popped me into a prison cell!" the young boy says.
"That's not good," Safire says.
"They think I'll grow up and kill people," the young boy says.
"Be free," Safire says.
"Thanks," the you g boy says.
"Okay, don't drink that stuff though..." Safire says.
"Fine, I won't," the young boy reluctantly says.
"I'm serious, my friend got amnesia from drinking Chateau Romani..." Safire says.
"Ha, it's milk! Milk can't be that bad for you right?!" the young boy asks.
"It's alcoholic milk!" Safire says.
"Alright, alright!" the young boy says.
"Okay," Safire says.
"It's not like you'd ever see him again so you would never know if he kept his promise," Mári says.
"You don't trust me anymore?!" the young boy asks.
"A lot of people can change," Safire says.
"I'm not going to drink the Chateau Romani, okay?!" the young boy says.
Safire smiles, "Yay!"
"Do you still have the keys? We need to unhandcuff them all," Mári says.
"Yep!" Safire says.
"Alright!" Mári says.
Safire unhandcuffs the young boy.
"Where should I go now?" the boy asks.
"Don't you have a mom and dad?" Safire asks.
"Yeah, actually I do!" the young boy says.
"Then go back to them," Safire says.
The young boy nods and takes off. Safire smiles.
"You know, the storm stopped when Vaati drowned," Mári notes.
"So he did it," Safire says.
"He never finished following the plan he scratched into the wall, I should've never trusted him anyways!" Mári says.
Safire is confused.
"Back 2,000 something years ago when he was still in prison I gave him a tool to draw on the wall. He sketched out everything he planed to do when he was free. I loved him too much to realize that everyone, not just me, was threatened by him! He was so young then! They beat him until he bled and they forced him to do hard work around the building!" Mári says.
"Poor Vaati..." Safire says.
"I loved him so much, I know he didn't mean to kill me. He was drunk that day and I tried to talk to him," Mári says.
"It's not your fault," Safire says.
"But he wasn't drunk this time, he purposely wanted to kill you!" Mári says.
"I beat him to it..." Safire says.
"One second more and you would've been the one underwater!" Mári says.
"I didn't though..." Safire says.
"I have no idea why he wanted to kill you so badly though," Mári says.
"Probably because I sent him to jail," Safire says.
"He was very great at pretending, until he smirked," Mári says.
"Why did he smirk?" Safire asks.
"I have no idea, I only knew that it meant he was going to kill you," Mári says.
"Thanks for warning me," Safire says.
"You're welcome! Um, when can I see Shadow?" Mári asks.
"Let's go!" Safire says.
Mári follows.
