Shelagh was still in theatre when the doctors came to update sister julienne and Patrick. They had cold tone voices and you could tell they had no sympathy for the patients and therefore failed in their role of becoming good doctors.

"Mrs Turner is still in theatre, we have stabilised her condition but continues to bleed. However, we are managing to control it. We have also performed 3 blood transfusions and with your permission; we'd like to carry out another, Mr Turner." The doctor in front asked. Patrick looked down at his daughter and he knew that she would need a mother. But blood transfusions were dangerous enough let alone 4 on the same person who was continuing to bleed. "Mr Turner?"

Patrick looked up at the doctor and told them to do whatever is needed t save her. "Although you must note that if anything were to happen to shelagh then you'll be responsible." The doctors nodded and sensed that this was their cue to leave.

Sister julienne had stayed all the while making sure that the Turner baby was being fed and warm. Patrick loved his new baby daughter with all his heart but it was too much for him to cope with and so he left his daughter with sister julienne. Patrick eventually fell asleep next to the bed in the room that been assigned to shelagh. Sister julienne soon followed.

Shelagh was very ill and wouldn't be independent for many weeks. The bleeding was controlled and about 7 hours later had finally stopped. It was one of the longest living saving operations that hospital had performed. It was a miracle that shelagh had survived this long with her body bleeding so heavily.

She was put into recovery and a nurse was sent to tell her husband and 'mother' the good news. However she got sidetracked to another emergency on its way in and couldn't leave for another hour. By which point shelagh had regained consciousness.

A doctor came to shelaghs room before she was brought back. Patrick and sister julienne had been awake and it was about 2 in the afternoon. The delivery from last night seemed so far away and nobody could quite believe that time had gone by so fast.

The doctor expected there to be a nurse already waiting for shelagh's arrival and to have prepared her room. Only to find a worried father holding his daughter being comforted by a nun.

"Mrs Turner is in recovery," the doctor spoke rather loudly to get their attention. "she will be brought here within the hour."

He swiftly walked out, again showing no remorse to the patient's family. They clearly thought nothing of the patient's family and only of their own night off with whomever they shared their lives with.

Patrick looked at sister julienne. They were both exhausted with massive bags under their sleepless eyes and had aching joints from sleeping the chairs. As long as shelagh was alive and was able to meet her daughter then thats all that mattered.

"i hope shes going to be alright," Patrick confided in sister julienne.

"i pray that you family will be together and in healthy condition once again. For you are the happiest family that came together that i have seen in my many years in the east end. There wont be any endings for you Patrick turner. Now i must leave. While i think of shelagh as my daughter the rules in hospitals also apply to nuns and i will visit tomorrow. I feel this should your time as a family." Sister julienne told Patrick as she stood up. She kissed her new granddaughter on the forehead and did the same to Patrick.

"thank you for everything you have done for us especially with keeping the baby clean and fed. I was so busy worrying with everything running through my head that i couldn't do anything for myself let alone a newborn." Patrick thanked her she left quietly.

Shelagh was brought into her room. She was so pale that you could quite clearly see her veins and where her knuckles came to meet her skin. The doctors insisted that shelagh would be fine but even though Patrick knew of his wife's strength he didnt seem convinced...
