Caiden's perspective 8pm: Ozpin's Office
I sit on Ozpin's desk waiting for Qrow, Ozpin and Glynda to arrive while Winter paces and the General gives me sideways glances.
"Winter stop pacing, its making you more anxious than you already are." I say and flick my eyes toward her.
"What? I'm pacing because I have nothing better to do. I'm not anxious at all, and if I was, how would someone like you know?" She gives me her best bitch face and I can't help but smirk.
"It's your body language and the way your heart is beating, let's not forget I was trained like an animal to fight and detect things." She looks taken aback but shuts her mouth and continues pacing. The General is still side glancing at me.
The elevator dings and opens, which reveals the three people missing from the meeting.
"What were you thinking?" Winter swiftly says angrily.
"If you were one of my men I would have you shot!" The general says swiftly afterward.
And since Qrow is the most sarcastic mother fucker I have ever met, "If I were one of your men I'd shoot myself." He says in a smooth tone. I chuckle lightly and I get the full glare from Winter and the General.
"And why are you here?" The General asks venomously.
"Qrow asked me to come along considering I was pretty high up in knowing what goes on in the big bad world." I smile and jump off Ozpin's desk. "Plus Ozpin has made me fully aware of the situation we are in at the current moment, something she shouldn't know about. So if someone needs to leave, I suggest it be her." I point at Winter and she looks at me like I'm an idiot.
"Yes, you are right about that. Winter please leave." The General says while still giving me the stink eye.
"But sir…"
"Now, Schnee!" He nearly yells.
"Yes sir!" She shouts back at him, spins on her heal and leaves. Qrow winks at her as she passes.
"Now down to business…" Ozpin sits in his chair and looks among us.
Cassy's perspective 3 hours later: Dorm
I hear the door unlock and open and I look up to see Caiden stepping through looking tired. I pretend I don't see him and continue to draw in the corner of the room with my little desk light.
"Why are you still awake?" Caiden whispers and sits in the chair next to where I am drawing.
"I was worried about you, plus I took a nap with Killian earlier so I'm not very tired." I sigh and look up. "Where were you tonight?"
"I was in a meeting with Ozpin. That is all I can say about it." He looks me in the eye so I know he is telling the truth.
"I understand that you can't say anymore, but I believe I know what it is about." He looks shocked.
"There is no way you know what its about." He says calmly.
"Well I know part of it has to do with all crime in the city completely stopping after we captured Roman." He raises an eyebrow.
"That's good that you notice suspicious behavior like that, it means your actual learning something here and not just fooling around." He smiles. "And yes that was part of it but I can't tell you anything else."
I set my sketch down on the table and he looks at it and back at me and at the picture again. "I've been reading Grandmom's journals and I found a few pictures inside, pictures of her with magnificent powers and she kept calling herself the Spring Maiden. This is the sketch of one of the many pictures I've found." I gesture over to the book. "It also helps that I went over to the headmaster office to ask a question and I overheard you talking about these so called Maidens." I look at him dead in the eye. "If the enemy was able to take one of them out, how are you and the teachers supposed to keep us, the students, safe?"
He looks completely stunned, like the day he came back and I slapped his face as hard as I could. "I need to take you to Ozpin right now so you can tell him what and how you know."
"Okay, let's go. Just let me grab my jacket." I walk over and grab my jacket from the end of my bed, along with beauty. "I'm ready."
Cassy's perspective: Ozpin's Office
We enter and we see Ozpin and Qrow standing in front of the massive desk, with Glynda and Ironwood off to the side of the room.
"How did you find out Cassandra?" Ozpin asks directly.
"I started reading our Grandmom's journals that our mother found in the attic. I have heard stories that she was an incredible huntress so I figured I would look through them to see if I could better my skills since Gandmom and I have the same semblance." Ozpin nods. "From what I can gather you've been around as long as time, Ozpin. And from what I read, she was indeed a very powerful huntress because of the fact she is a Maiden. And one very important detail was very intriguing to me. Can you guess what that is?"
"Yes, I can imagine what it is." He gives to sign of emotion.
"The fact that I have been a maiden since I was a little girl and my grandmom passed it onto me when she died and you locked those powers away within me to keep me from finding out what extreme powers I had." The others in the room looked at Ozpin in disbelief.
"I thought you said we had lost track of the Spring Maiden long ago, Ozpin. You never said you had locked the powers within a little girl!" The General yells and points his finger at Ozpin. "How could you know that she wouldn't be evil? How could you know that the lock would hold?"
"Because her brother and her parents told me that they wouldn't let it happen."
I look at Caiden, "So that's why I was so sheltered compared to you?" He nods.
"I was assigned as your guardian when I turned 16, we have always seemed like the average Faunus family, living a simple and nice life while running a local shop." He looked down. "I never expected that I would have to leave you for so long to protect you." Tears formed in my eyes.
"I always thought something was off about me." I laugh lightly and wipe away tears. "Being the first to unlock your semblance, months before anyone else in class didn't help my suspicions. Or when I broke both the bones in my arm and I was healed within the week. And mom and dad told me a healer came and repaired my arm in my sleep, I always knew that one was bullshit, but I held my tongue."
Ironwood looked guilty, probably because when we first met he thought the worst of me. Glynda was actually smiling which was…creepy. Qrow just looked at us with somewhat understanding and Ozpin had the same look on his face as always.
"Now that I know and you know I know, can we unlock these powers?" I give Ozpin an optimistic look.
"Unfortunately not yet. Hopefully we won't have to until you graduate." He gives a sympathetic smile. "But the way things are going, we might have to soon." He looks distant in thought.
"I understand, Professor. It's getting quite late and we have a festival to attend in the morning." I turn and walk to the door. "It's nice to know I'm not weird, but I do hope you can control everything. I will help if you need but all I want to do is stay alive and keep the ones I love alive. I don't think we can lose someone else." I walk into the elevator with Caiden and I wave as the door closes.
"You are such a smart ass I swear." Caiden says with an amused grin on his face.
"Well I'm not an ass but I have always been more intelligent than you." I elbow him lightly.
"It's good to have the air cleared about this." He says and the elevator dings. When the elevator door opens we step out and I sense malevolence nearby.
"Keep your guard up. I sense someone up to no good nearby." I say under my breath and he nods. "Act natural." We continue to laugh and talk about classes as we walk back to the dorm.
We get to the dorm and open the door to see Killian and Jen trying to kill each other in the middle of the floor.
"Well I think I know the culprits to that feeling I got." I sigh. "Hey! That's enough! What the fuck are you two doing?" I yell despite the time being 1am.
Caiden goes over to try and break them up but he ends up getting kicked in the face by Jen. "Okay that's enough!" Caiden looks pissed as he somehow grabs them by the backs of their shirts and holds them away from each other. "Use your words children!"
Jen crosses her arms and looks away. "He started it."
"Nuhuh! She is the one who threw a book at my head!" Killian looks at her like he is ready to kill her.
"Only because you were snoring so damn loud! I don't know how Cassy can even get an ounce of sleep with you around." She yells back. "And I tried to wake you up by throwing something softer but since you're such a hard head it doesn't work!"
I look at both of them and then laugh. "You guys are dumb, I'm going to bed." I take off my jacket and go to the bathroom to change into my night clothes.
When I come back out, Jen is back in bed and Killian is on his side of our bed waiting for me to get in. Caiden is in the corner reading where I was previously when he came in earlier. I slip into bed and Killian snuggled up to me. "Cassy."
"Yes, Killian?" I ask while yawning.
"Your brother is scary." He holds me tighter.
"I know darling, I'm the same way when I get mad, and hopefully you'll never have to see it." I pat his face and smile.
He whispers under his breath, "Two siblings straight from hell I swear." I smile to myself and close my eyes.
