Chapter 20

Hearing him say that he was pleased by my actions pleased me. So when he turned around, I gave him a shy smile with my eyes still looking towards his feet.

"Have a seat Isabella." I sat down on the indicated chair after he had taken his seat behind hid deep mahogany desk.

"First of all, I'd like to apologise for not getting back to you about that visit. I had some urgent work related issue come up so I didn't have the time to give you the tour." He said with a slightly apologetic expression on his face.

"I understand, sir. I'm hoping I'll get that tour today so I can start my job tomorrow." Though I had been disappointed that I didn't get to see him during the week, I respected his judgement.

"I assume there was no further problem with the contract? Have you signed it yet?" Mr. Cullen asked, leaning back in his seat a bit. He looked relaxed.

"Yes sir, here are the papers" I replied. I took out the contract from my bag and set it down in front of him on the table.

"Very well then" with that he signed it as well.

Now I was officially his employee, his to command.

That thought sent a very pleasurable tingle down my spine.

"Come on then, if there is nothing else, I'd like to walk you through the house." He stood up and started walking towards the door, without checking to see if I was following, like he already knew I would. And I did.

I obediently walked a few steps behind him as he led my through his house. We went from the bottom to the top. He first showed me the kitchen and the adjoining pantry. His kitchen was like a chef's dream kitchen. Modern, done in black and chrome plating with bronze touches here and there, I was already itching to cook in there. He had all kinds of utensils and judging from their appearances, most were unused. The pantry was fully stalked and he told me that grocery shopping was not in my job description. All I had to do was give a list of groceries to Jasper and he would pass it on to his assistant, Maria, whose job description included this task.

Figures, his assistant would have an assistant of his own!

Then he showed me the living room, the den, the dining room, the gym and a bathroom. Among the rooms on this floor, I was supposed to clean the kitchen and the dining room daily, the rest could last one week.

We moved on to the next floor where he pointed out his office. Then we moved on to see a huge library, there were shelves upon shelves of books in that room with a few cozy looking chairs and couches spread throughout the room. Probably seeing the look of intense longing, Mr. Cullen offered to let me borrow those books to read in my free time. Then there were two guest rooms with a shared bathroom and one guest room with an attached bathroom. On this floor, the room for daily cleaning was the office.

We then reached the last floor of the huge house. There were two master suites on this floor. He showed me the one that was his own room. The other, right across from his, he said was mine.

"This is your room Isabella. If there is something you don't like. You can change it. This will be your home too, at least for the next month, so I want you comfortable here."

"Its great sir. I like it as it is. But if there are any changes I want, I'll certainly tell you" I didn't think anything in this room should be changed. All the items, from table lamp to the small desk and chair in the corner, everything seemed like it belonged to that room.

There were two other doors on this floor. He opened the plain dark wood door, "This is my music room, Isabella. You will only clean the floor and the windows here. And you will lightly dust my instruments but I will be the only one properly cleaning them, that is, unless you play one of these." His music room, like most others in his house, was a musician's dream come true! In the centre, there was a huge mahogany grand piano. Along the wall, he had several guitars- both electric and acoustics. He had a very sophisticated looking keyboard next to the guitars. He also had several amplifiers. And lastly, in front of the huge window, he had a drum set!

"Wow, Mr. Cullen! You can play all these?" I'm pretty sure my voice sounded like an excited 5 year old.

"I always wanted to learn, but growing up in Forks, there weren't much opportunities to learn. And later, when I could drive to Port Angeles to learn, my dad got sick. So it wasn't possible." I continued, answering his earlier question.

"That's unfortunate. If we have the time, then I'd love to teach you whatever you want. I can play them all." He said with a small smirk on his gorgeous face.

"Come."

With a single word, he led me out and closed the door.

"Now this room," he said, pointing at the last door. It was quite beautifully carved. "Only I have the key to unlock it. I don't think you are ready to see it yet. So leave this out. When and if you are ready, I'll take you in here." He didn't wait for me to ask anymore questions. He simply walked back into my room.

I was confused. What could be in that room? What didn't he want me to see? Or rather, believe I wasn't ready to see? I was brought out of my musings when he opened the built in closet. I was surprised by how large it was. My old room in Forks was probably the same size! What the hell was I supposed to fill it with?

I watched as he took out a dress from the closet. "This will be your uniform while you work here. I have provided you with three sets. I think they should fit you just fine, but you should try them on to be cautious."

With that, he left the dress on the bed and I watched as he opened the bedroom door. "Change quickly. I'll be waiting right outside. I'd like to see how you look in the clothes I picked out for you. You have five minutes." He closed the door and left me to change.
