A/N: Hello readers! As you can probably see by now, epilogues in this series are like that extra scene that plays after the credits in movies. So sit back, relax, and enjoy. Thank you so much for reading!
Epilogue
"Aria, where are we going?" Vanessa asked as they strolled down the school hall after her Volleyball practice was over.
"I just need to stop by the library real quick," Aria said, keeping her eyes straight ahead.
Vanessa huffed and grumbled, "What's in the library that you need right now?"
"Just… uh, some book," Aria said, determined to keep her gaze in front of her.
As the approached the library, Vanessa pointed out, "Aria, you have no idea have obvious it is when you're hiding something. What's going on in there?"
Aria sighed and opened the door. "You'll just have to see."
When the two girls entered, the library was dimly lit with candles on the tables where the students would normally study. Aria recalled having lunch with Walter at one of these tables last semester. Now, Walter stood in the center of this room with his hands in front of him, holding a tiny box.
"Walter, what are you doing here?" Vanessa asked, apprehensively, shooting Aria a side-glance.
Walter stepped forward and said, "Vanessa, there's something I want to ask you."
"No," Vanessa said in barely above a whisper.
Walter knelt down on one knee in front of her and continued, "We've been together for some time now and I've been thinking…"
"Walter stop," Vanessa pleaded, kneeling down in front of him. She placed her hands on his cheeks and demanded, "What has gotten into you? We're not even in Galatia right now. For God's sake, we're in the school library! What are you…"
In mid-sentence, Vanessa heard a giggle from behind her that was not Aria's.
"Oh my god." Realization hit Vanessa as Walter lost his ability to keep a straight face. She swirled her head around. "Kendal!"
Now cackling even harder, Kendal stepped forward from the dark corner. "Got you!"
Vanessa looked between both Walter and Kendal, who were now laughing and then to Aria, who merely offered a shrug, mumbling, "She made me do it."
"Oh my god, you should have seen your face," Kendal remarked, giggling even harder.
"Seriously Kendal?" Vanessa demanded, standing up with her hands on her hips. "Why? How would you like it if I got Ian to propose to you… again?"
"I'm sorry but you totally deserve this," Kendal mused to her. "You laughed when both Aria and I got proposed to, so I thought you should see what it feels like to be caught off guard like that."
"I don't think you were caught off guard when you said yes to Ian," Vanessa commented with a smirk.
Kendal raised her eyebrow. "And were you going to say yes?"
Vanessa huffed. "No way! Not at age sixteen and most definitely not in a library of all places!"
Her remark made them all laugh more.
"Well, we should probably give you two some privacy," Kendal said, taking Aria's arm. "See you two later."
"I'm going to get you back, Kendal," Vanessa called out.
Kendal turned around and smirked. "Bring it on."
"Seriously, sometimes I think you two enjoy conflict," Aria grumbled as she followed Kendal out.
After Kendal and Aria left, Vanessa sighed and shook her head. When she turned back to Walter, he opened the box with a grin. "See, it's only a bracelet."
Vanessa smiled and took the jewelry but asked, "How did she talk you into that?"
Walter shrugged and replied, "You know Kendal. She's not exactly the kind of person you can just say no to."
"I think I know that better than anyone," Vanessa muttered.
"You two are still going to be okay, right?" Walter asked as he took her hand.
Vanessa smiled. "Yes, Walter, Kendal and I are going to be fine from now on." As she gave him a hug, she could not help but add, "I'm still going to get her back."
