Hopkins tried to calm down the inspectors but it was no use. The two men started shouting questions at the same time.
"How long have you been dating?!"
"Why didn't you tell us?!
"How did you manage to get a girl like her?!"
"You're getting married?!"
"Does Holmes know?!"
"Is this a joke?!"
"Are you old enough to get married?!"
"YOU'RE GETTING MARRIED?"
"Please calm down!" Hopkins shouted and the inspectors fell into stunned silence.
"Should I go?" Katherine asked Hopkins looking embarrassed.
"Yes." Hopkins said with a small smile. "I need to explain what's going on to my boss's here."
"Ok then, see you later." Katherine said and quickly left.
Hopkins sighed, and led the inspectors to his office. They sat down and Hopkins started to talk.
"I met Katherine about two years ago at a party at my friend's house. We started to see one another and I asked her to marry me a few days ago. I am 25 years old, and I have a job. So yes I can get married and still support myself. As for why she likes me, I don't know, and I really don't care why." Hopkins said.
"But you still didn't explain why you never told us." Lestrade said with a hurt look.
"I'm sorry, but I was afraid you were going to tease me." Hopkins said in a apologetic tone.
"But you're our friend!" Gregson said. "It's our job to tease you!"
"I guess you're right." Hopkins said fidgeting.
"I don't think you're telling us the truth." Lestrade said with a raised eyebrow.
Hopkins sighed, and nodded. "Can't hid much from you can I?" Said Hopkins with a defeated sort of look.
"You're hiding this from Holmes aren't you?" Gregson asked with a knowing look.
Hopkins nodded.
