Kunzite knocked on the door to Endymion's study, expecting to find the prince in there. When he stepped in, he found only the prince's steward sitting behind the desk, a pen in hand as he looked up from the paper he had been writing on. "General Kunzite," he said, rising from his seat.
"Steward Tora," Kunzite responded, his eyes looking around the room. "Where is Prince Endymion?"
"He's in the throne room with a guest."
"Who?"
"I was told it's a private meeting."
"Who is he meeting with, Tora?"
"Ambassador Halde, General."
"How long have they been meeting?"
"I think he arrived maybe fifteen minutes ago or so."
"No one is with him?"
"Not to my knowledge."
Kunzite turned and walked quickly down the hall heading towards the throne room. When he arrived, the room was empty, lights dimmed. He walked the long line of the red carpet pausing at the throne. Voices could faintly be heard in the room and he looked around trying to decipher the source.
Guards laughter drifted in from the private side entrance. Below that noise, he could hear the voices coming from one of the ante rooms. Trying the east room first, he found it was empty. When he opened the door to the west room, he found Endymion sitting at the head of the table and the ambassador sitting to his left. Both men turned to look at him when he entered.
"Did you need something, General Kunzite?" Endymion asked.
"I heard that you were meeting with the ambassador."
"We're finishing up in here. You can wait for me outside."
The ambassador rose to his feet. "Astoreda estande, mocando pequiland." Good evening, young master.
Kunzite bristled. "General Kunzite," he said, enunciating his name to the ambassador.
"Creatos enju bastion argulio." You can pardon my error. "I actually hoped that you would join us. I have a message for you as well."
His eyes focused on the smirking ambassador. The man was dressed in finery, but not the normal apparel that a meeting of type would require. He approached the table, standing to Endymion's right and watching as the ambassador lowered himself back into his seat. Endymion took the papers in front of him and folded them in half, obstructing Kunzite's view of the words scrawled across the front.
"King Alexander Filip Halvorsen, King of the North, and protector of it's territories, has requested a meeting with you."
"No," Kunzite answered.
Playing his part, the ambassador appeared as though shocked by the response. "My young master," he started, only to be cut off by Kunzite. "General Kunzite."
"Yes, of course," Magne Haldor responded, though he showed no outward sign of acknowledgement towards the reprimand. "King Alexander worries that you have been dishonest with your intentions. We have a treaty - your own treaty - that says we will not interfere with each others matters, yet it seems that is exactly what is happening.
"Despite those concerns, he has graciously agreed to speak with you...General," the name was said with disdain. "Quite magnanimous of him I think one would agree."
Endymion frowned. "No one has threatened the treaty and we are still not in agreement."
The ambassador gestured towards the folded papers the prince held. "I think you'll find that everything is in proper order. The only thing that seems to be standing in the way is your own man. My king would like the opportunity to explain everything to him so that he can come to the same understanding."
"You speak of the treaty as though you had any involvement in it," Kunzite said. "Yet you were some lowly steward who stood silently in the back of the room all those years ago."
He smiled. "Acci anzu." I was.
"Then I'm sure you recall that upon signing that treaty, your king said to me that if I were to ever step another foot into his kingdom, it would be my last. While I do believe that his bark is worse than his bite, I would expect to receive no hospitality from him thus making the journey not in my best interest."
"We always welcome back any child of the north."
"I will not go to Saintus Melenchas to speak with your king. If he truly wants to parley, we will find neutral territory to meet at."
"Unfortunately that will not be possible. You will need to come to him. If you are refusing, then I will have no choice but to tell him that you have decided to break your own treaty."
"You will not come into this room," Endymion said, voice low, "and threaten my kingdom or my general."
"My apologies," Magne said with a bow of his head, "I only meant that I wanted to clarify your man's statement. I don't want there to be a misunderstanding. Again, we feel that we have everything in order and now it is up to you to do your part in the agreement."
Kunzite's eyes drifted again to the folded papers Endymion held. When he looked up again, the ambassador was looking at him with a smile on his face. "I'll go."
Endymion's head jerked over to look at Kunzite. "You're not going."
Kunzite looked to Magne. "I will be there in two weeks. I'm sure Alexander can wait until then."
"King Alexander will not wait that long. That is an insult to his request."
"You are aware that we are celebrating our holiday starting tonight. Everything can wait until after that time. If everything is in order as you say, you have nothing to be concerned with."
"Bring the girl with you."
"She will not leave this kingdom."
"Whether it is you or another general that escorts her, I will not make it my concern." The ambassador rose from his seat and smoothed his clothes. "Perhaps I will indulge myself in some of your celebrations before departing tonight." He smiled at Kunzite, then turned and bowed his head towards Endymion. "We'll expect your response delivered before the week's end."
Endymion looked down at the papers, aware that Kunzite watched him. When the door closed and they were alone, Endymion knew he should be the first to speak. "You don't have to go."
"We agreed yesterday that I would go." He glanced again to the papers. "Do you want to share that with me?"
"Are you in love with Minako?"
"I won't lose her."
Endymion used his foot to slide out the chair to his right. "Sit, my friend." He watched as Kunzite hesitantly took the proffered seat. "I'm going to send Zoicite to bring Jalen here. I think you need to prepare yourself for things to come." Endymion tapped his fingers on the papers. "This doesn't mean anything yet. I don't know if it will. Alexander wants me to put into writing that I am releasing Minako from my protection. He wants you and Serenity to sign it as well. I don't believe that he is right about Jalen, but I think he may end up not being wrong."
"This isn't about Minako," Kunzite said, pressing his finger against the table surface. "He doesn't care about the treaty. He got most of what he wanted. She is the catalyst for something bigger and if you turn her over to him you're going to find out how high of a cost dealing with Alexander can be."
"I'm going to do what I can, Kunzite."
"What you can?" He rose to his feet. "She is one of your citizens. You will protect her."
"You want to risk war over this? We have both seen what battles look like. We might win in the long run, but the cost wouldn't be worth it. My larger army against his smaller one. Alexander would accuse me of breaking treaties and neighboring kingdoms would descend on us before we could do the same to them."
"Our fight is only with Alexander."
"Stop, Kunzite." Endymion pushed his chair back and stood as well, placing his hand on Kunzite's shoulder. "These are all the points that you brought to me when I signed that treaty. I know Minako is important to you and I hate how powerless I am to do anything for you. I owe you everything and not one day goes by that I forget."
Kunzite brushed Endymion's hand from his shoulder. "Important to me?"
"I asked you if you loved her."
"Would it make a difference?"
Endymion took the papers from the table and folded them again before sliding them into his pocket. "Come with me while I get ready. Let's finish talking."
"I told Minako I'd walk out with her tonight."
The prince glanced across the room to see the clock read five-thirty. "Serenity was going out at five. You've already missed her."
Crowds surged through the courtyard laughing and toasting to the night. Music played in the background as revelers danced among friends and strangers alike. Kunzite stood with his back to a wall and watched as Endymion and Zoicite slipped in with the throngs of people. The prince was always eager to disguise himself and disappear into crowds. Some people recognized him, others did not. Only the elite courtiers caught wind of the mask he would be wearing that night, while all others in the crowd mistook him for a mere courtier.
Zoicite had secured his hair back into a tight knot at the base of his neck and donned a uniform of black and deep navy blues. His mask was a black and blue checkered design in contrast to Endymion's white and black one.
Kunzite was the only uniformed general that evening. Jadeite and Nephrite wore the standard palace black so that they wouldn't stand out in the crowd. He was the one who would always remain visible.
After the ambassador had left, Endymion tried to get him to talk more of everything that had happened over the past day, but he didn't want to talk about any of it. He didn't trust himself not to lash out further than he already had.
Serenity had briefly slipped into his life of vision. Her group moving in the opposite direction of where Endymion and Zoicite had gone. Rei moved slowly behind the other girls with Jadeite close by her side. Makoto, the tallest of the women, was noticeably missing. No doubt Nephrite had abandoned his watch point to find a dark corner with her.
There was no chastising Nephrite when it came to Makoto. Despite the tall, dark haired soldier's words of disinterest towards monogamy, it was clear that there would never be anyone else for him.
The power of lust and all consuming love.
But he would know about that.
It took all of his effort to keep his eyes on the prince and not on Minako. To not watch as she moved fluidly in her silken dress. He had never known her to move so gracefully as she appeared to now. It pained him watching other men looking at her. Braver men kissing her hand. One of the bolder ones tucking a flower behind her ear.
He was supposed to be here as a guard - not as a jealous lover.
Jadeite
Jadeite stayed loyally at Rei's side. Despite her insistence that she was fine, he could tell that she was not. At first he was afraid that she was still angry over his outburst from this morning, but then he quickly realized it was the baby that was causing her distress. He begged for her to go back inside and see the doctor, but she refused, insisting that she stay and partake in the celebrations.
Rei was not an easy woman to argue with. Neigh impossible to win an argument with. So he stayed at her side, watching her, marveling in her fierce beauty. He knew that had the world been different, she would have been a soldier as easily as he was.
"Please stop hovering over me," Rei hissed as she felt Jadeite's hand once again coming to rest at her back.
"Then go see the doctor and I'll stop," he responded.
"Should I ask Endymion to find you another task?"
"Endymion doesn't care where I am tonight as long as I stay near Serenity."
"Then perhaps I should speak with Kunzite." She felt remorse as the words left her mouth and the look of anger took over his boyish features. "I'm sorry," she muttered, as he looked away. She placed her hand on his cheek so that he was forced to meet her eyes. "I'm worried about you."
"Enough," he said, swatting away her hand and attempting to step away.
Rei grabbed his hand and stepped towards him. "You don't fight with each other like this. He has always been a brother to you. I know this is eating at you. Let me help."
"Let it go, Rei," he said through gritted teeth.
"Tell me what happened."
"For the last time."
"If you won't resolve this for yourself, I will," she spat stepping away from Jadeite.
His fingers jerked out and wrapped around her wrist holding her in place as his eyes scanned the area around them. He didn't want to be angry with her - he knew that she was picking this fight. She just didn't yet know why she didn't want to.
Drums and ringing bells broke through the crowd of revelers, causing Jadeite to look around. He watched as a troupe of dancers moved through the crowd, his eyes darting around to ascertain Endymion's safety when the direction of movement shifted.
"Son of a bitch," he spat, dropping Rei's wrist and running off.
"Jadeite!" Rei called after him.
Nephrite
He knew that he should have been walking through the crowds, but one look at Makoto in those silken layers and he lost any rational thought.
When she walked past the alleyway, he reached out and grabbed her hand, pulling her into the darkened passage. She didn't even seem surprised to see him. It seemed perhaps that the trap had been laid by her and he was the one caught in it.
Nephrite cupped her face, pulling her against him. Makoto had drawn a green vine that ran up the length of her long neck, stopping at her cheekbone where it branched out into small pink cherry blossoms, dusting her checks and nose like freckles.
"I don't think you could be anymore beautiful."
"You already have me. There is no need for flattery."
"I think it's you that has me," he said against her lips.
"Admit that it's the dress," she teased.
"It's the woman." He kissed her temple, her cheek, her lips.
Through the sounds of the revelers and the drums, a scream could be heard. Nephrite stepped out into the busy street looking around for the source, cursing when he found it.
Endymion
He walked around with a smile on his face, although that was really only part of his disguise. His eyes took in the people of his kingdom, watching as they celebrated and enjoyed the foods that had been laid out for them. The palace spent a small fortune on this event every year and as far as Endymion was concerned, it was the best they could spend it on. His people needed this night to look forward to.
It wasn't that the kingdom was not well off - they did far better than neighboring kingdoms. With the largest land mass and population, it was a near miracle that they were able to provide so much for everyone. It was their history though, that plagued the kingdom.
How do you show the other monarchies that you will not intrude into their borders when the past king regularly threatened such? How do you convince your own people that you are strong and they are safe? How do you keep them from warring with each other?
The validity of Endymion's crown had been questioned before - not because they suspected his queen mother of infidelity, but because of how the previous king came to pass. Some claimed he was murdered. Others say he died of poor health. A few even cried out that the gods struck the king down for his wickedness.
Archaic law said that the crown may never sit on the head of the man who kills the king. While Endymion could swear to any holy book that he did no such thing, there were some out there that spread rumors for the sole purpose of discourse.
With his twenty-first birthday coming up, he would finally be crowned king and the whispers would be forced to come to an end. Five years had passed since the war ended and the crown had never been heavier.
The events of Salas only added to its unbearable weight.
Kunzite was not someone he could afford to have turn against him. Before yesterday, if anyone had even suggested it over the past seven years, he would have laughed. Something had happened though and it left Kunzite clearly torn between his kingdom and himself. Despite Jadeite's overt confidence, Endymion knew that he always looked to Kunzite. The two men butted heads over strategies but never like this.
Fear had clawed at Endymion as word slowly spread of the fight that had broken out. No one knew for sure that it had been his two generals - that was the one saving grace. He had generously paid a couple of the stable hands to say they had been scolded by the generals and that the argument had been amongst the four of them.
If word ever got out of their internal discord, he risked the loss of the trust of his people. They once had great reason to fear his father's generals - he would never allow those that he ruled to fear his own. He would never allow for anyone to have a shadow of doubt in their mind that they were all not united.
Until yesterday that had been the truth. What was the truth today?
A woman's scream cut through the crowd to his ears. He looked over to where he had last seen Serenity to ensure she was okay. Her and her ladies had moved further away than would have liked, but they all smiled and danced and appeared unfazed. Perhaps he imagined it.
As his eyes further scanned the small group of ladies in waiting, he noticed that Rei appeared distressed with Ami at her side trying to calm her. It took him only a moment to realize how wrong everything suddenly was.
Nephrite and Jadeite were supposed to have been at Serenity's side the entire night. There was very little that would move either man. With Makoto missing from the group, he guessed where Nephrite had gone to, but Jadeite would not have strayed.
He turned to scan the crowd, a foul string of curses being muttered under his breath as he saw a shift in the crowd's movements.
Minako
Stands had been set up along the sides of the main road containing different foods and drinks. Trinkets were handed out to smaller children who were with their families, while other couples stole away to dark alleys created by rows of stalls to share kisses.
A small group had set up in the center of everything to play different instruments, the sound melodious as it intertwined with the laughter of the revelers. At some point a petite, mousy woman, with light brown hair joined the townsmen to sing along to the music. Up on rooftops people had taken to throwing petals down on the people passing by below making it look like many colored snowflakes.
Minako laughed along with everyone, smiling as a young man pressed the stem of a lily into her hair behind her ear. Serenity was dancing with a group of her ladies while Ami and Rei walked hand in hand, Jadeite trailing behind them. Makoto had disappeared moments earlier, Nephrite also conspicuously missing from the group.
A masked man stepped into her path, a gasp escaping Minako's lips as their bodies collided. The man grabbed her arm to steady her, asking, "Why are you alone?"
She looked over the man's features, recognition finally settling over the masked man. "Dâni," she exhaled. "You startled me."
"Why are you by yourself?" He asked again.
"Because it's a beautiful night and we're here to celebrate."
"You should have an escort."
"I'm surrounded by guards."
"No," he hissed. "Serenity is surrounded by guards."
A tall shadow fell over them and they both turned their heads to see the tall figure dressed in the muted whites, blues, and browns of a generals uniform underneath a dark gray cape. Minako's eyes moved upward to see the red mask perched on the nose of the man whose pale hair had been pulled back into a low ponytail. "Kunzite," Minako said, her voice full of surprise. "Why the mask?"
"I had to see for myself what so much fanfare has been spoken of," he said, his voice gruff. "You should try this," he said as he handed her a cup.
Minako brought the cup of mulled cider to her nose, inhaling the sweet scent before drinking the small amount that remained. "This is delicious."
He pulled the cup from her hand and set it down on the edge of a stand. "You can leave us, Dâni."
"I can take her back to Serenity."
"There's no need for that. You can go now."
Minako watched as Adonis took first a step backwards, and then turned and disappeared into the crowd. It was clear in his voice that he did not want them speaking - which is what Adonis had always warned her about when he spoke of Kunzite knowing they were friends.
"Where is Serenity?" the deep voice said in her ear.
Minako turned her attention back to the man in front of her. "With her ladies. Jadeite was with them."
"And why weren't you with them? Weren't you warned against walking around on your own tonight?"
She felt a tinge of anger at the perceived chastising. "I have not gone far."
He reached out with his right hand and brought her left to his lips. "No, my pet," he said in his low gruff tone, "you have not yet. Come with me. I don't have much time." He pulled her after him and they disappeared around a corner.
Minako stumbled as she tried to keep up with him as they moved past the backsides of the row of tents. "Please slow down," Minako said, a feeling of lightheadedness clouding her mind.
When they reached the back wall, Minako felt herself being pushed against the wall, a hard body pressed against her. "Kunzite," she said.
"Are you alright?" he asked.
"I feel a little lightheaded. I didn't think I drank that much champagne earlier."
His hand reached to cup her chin, turning her eyes up to meet his. "Your eyes are a darker blue." Her arms rose up to wrap around his neck, pulling his lips to hers. "Princess," he growled between kisses.
"My fool," she responded as his lips moved to her throat. His hand slid down from her cheek, over her shoulder, fingers trailing down her breast, eliciting a gasp in response. "Kunzite," she exhaled, her hands pressing against his chest.
"No, my Pet," he said. One had caressed here check and the other grabbed her backside, pressing her firmly against him as he kissed her.
The pressure of his lips was crushing but exciting, eliciting a moan from her lips. She reached up to pull of his mask and he grabbed her hand stilling her.
In the distance, the sound of drums began to beat. "I'm late." Without warning he pulled away from her. "Tell no one I was here."
Minako pressed herself against the wall to balance herself. Her heart was beating firmly in her chest, her breath coming out quickly. She looked around to ensure that no one had seen what they had been doing. Seeing that there was no one around, she made her way back out the way that she had come, though not the same way that Kunzite did.
She emerged back to the edge of the crowd and looked around and saw Rei and Ami moving through the crowd, three guards surrounding them. Additional guards descended and cleared a path for them to slip through, the walkway immediately closing up in their wake.
Zoicite
The air had been crackling with electricity all night. Most would have said it was the looming storm, but Zoicite knew that it was something more.
Drums beating filled the walkway he stood in, a line of dancers slipping through the throngs of people, red scarves waving around them. He had since lost sight of most of the group, though that didn't mean he was unaware of where they were.
Nephrite and Makoto were off to the side having one of their less than secret trysts. A man of Nephrite's size could hardly move through a crowd without being recognized. Anyone who knew Nephrite would know the woman at his side was none other than Makoto.
Zoicite though had always been the one to be lost in a crowd. He was always described as average.
Average height.
Average build.
Average coloring.
Average features.
That was how it was supposed to be.
A woman's scream broke Zoicite's thoughts as he looked around to see Kunzite at the source. Kunzite's body mostly blocked the view of the woman wearing all red from his line of sight. To the right, Jadeite pushed away from Rei's side and shoved through the crowd. Nephrite, with his tall stature, was visible coming out from a dark walkway, moving towards the converging of the other two Generals.
Endymion's attention had also been directed that way. He stood with his jaw locked, eyes hidden behind a checkered mask as he watched Jadeite and Kunzite collide.
Soldiers descended upon Rei who looked pained, her hand falling to the soldier's arm as though he was the only thing holding her up. Ami held her other hand and the two women were swallowed by a sea of black uniforms. Serenity remained with her ladies, plain-clothed soldiers moving her further away.
His eyes caught sight of Minako standing at the edge of a tent, leaning against the wall to hold herself upright before turning back into darkened alley and disappearing.
Clearly there was no good choice to be made here.
So he moved to where Minako had gone. Concerned and curious about what had lead her away from the direction everyone else moved towards.
A bang echoed from up above him and he could see the refraction of light cast on the stands from the red firework that had gone off. He hadn't realized how late the night had gotten. The crowd must be headed towards the lake for the fireworks to begin.
He slipped around the revelers, brushing flower petals from his shoulders as people standing on the wall threw out their last handfuls. When he came around the corner, he saw Minako kneeling on the ground, Adonis crouching at her side.
"Am I interrupting?" Zoicite asked, pulling the mask from his face.
"She's not feeling well," Adonis answered, his hand falling away from where he had been holding her elbow.
"Are you injured?" Zoicite asked as he kneeled beside them.
"I was going to take her inside," Adonis answered for her.
"Are you injured, Minako?" Zoicite asked again, ignoring the other man.
"No," she whispered.
Zoicite rose to his feet, his eyes telling Adonis to do the same. When both men were standing, the general looked over to Minako, telling her to wait for him to return. Zoicite walked down the line of stalls, Adonis following after.
"What are you doing here?" Zoicite asked once they were out of earshot of the blonde.
"It's the people's celebration."
"This is not your post."
"I'm not in uniform."
"The two of you are acquainted?"
A firework exploded overhead, casting dark green shadows in the alley. "She lives in Kunzite's home, of course I would know who she is."
Zoicite's head tilted, eyes narrowing. "That's not what I asked you."
Kunzite
His fingers dug so tightly into Jadeite's uniform that it alternated between a throbbing sensation and total numbness.
Jadeite held just as tightly onto Kunzite's wrists, both locked together.
Nephrite wrapped one arm around Kunzite's chest and another around his neck, yanking him off balance. At the same time, Endymion pushed himself against Jadeite, breaking his hold as well. He stood between the two men, his eyes darting around to see people watching them.
"You will not do this here," he hissed at the two men, his words partially drowned out by the burst of the first firework. Red shadows outlined their bodies against white tents.
"He brought that woman here!" Jadeite shouted, trying to push his way around Endymion.
"There is no woman," Kunzite spat, pulling against Nephrite's hold.
Jadeite yelled, "What you have done is treason!" as he reached around Endymion to grab at Kunzite.
Endymion pushed Jadeite against the wall, pressing firmly on his chest. "Do not speak one more word. Do not make one more movement."
"He continues to lie to your face," Jadeite said, taking another step forward only to be pushed back again by Endymion. Jadeite fought against the adrenaline coursing through him. Had it been anyone else in front of him he would have struck first and apologized later.
Kunzite shook off Nephrite's hold and closed the distance between them, Endymion's hand coming up in warning to his head general. "Kunzite," he warned.
"You are placed on leave for insubordination," Kunzite said, ignoring the prince. "You disobeyed an order from your commander and your prince. Three weeks of leave."
Another firework shot off, this time casting shadows of green.
Jadeite laughed. "You're mad with power you don't have." Kunzite's eyes narrowed as Jadeite attempted to take a step towards him again, Endymion's hold on the blonde general's arm reminding him not to fulfill that step. "Only Endymion can give that command."
Endymion remained silent, standing between the two men. He glared at Kunzite, making no indication that Jadeite's logic was failed.
Nephrite stepped in. "You can't be serious." He looked towards the prince who no longer seemed to be holding eye contact with anyone.
"We should talk about this," Endymion said to Kunzite.
A burst of fireworks lit up the sky, illuminating the area in a sea of colors. The group had long since been forgotten with the excitement of the areal display. It had been interesting for onlookers to see the normally silent general chastising who they believed to be a soldier, but once the fight had been broken up, all had moved on to continue their revelry.
"He attacked his commander in a crowded street," Kunzite said, his voice cold and without any emotion. "He disobeyed an order of the crown prince. There will be consequences."
Nephrite's face creased with anger, though he did not say another word on the matter. Instead he turned to Jadeite. "I assume you've had enough of the celebrations as well." With a jerk on Jadeite's arm, he pulled him away, leaving Kunzite and Endymion standing alone at the abandoned stands.
"You will apologize come morning," Endymion said through gritted teeth.
"You gave me the authority - your personal bias cannot override what needed to be done."
"I'm going to find Serenity and make sure she is okay. I want you back at the palace and I want you and the other generals in the East Ante room come first light. Whatever it is that Jadeite thinks you have done - you will explain. I will not allow this to tear apart this kingdom."
Kunzite's eyes narrowed. "You think I have done something to go against all of the work I have done? Do you think it was easy to convince your people that you were not your father?"
"Is that what you did?" Endymion asked, holding Kunzite's stare. He watched as Kunzite's eyes drifted away and a growl escaped his lips. The prince followed Kunzite's line of sight and saw Zoicite approaching with Minako at his side. "Go," Endymion barked. "Go back to the palace and stay out of sight."
Anger still raged through his veins, though exhaustion was starting to win out as the adrenaline left him. He watched the short exchange between Kunzite and Zoicite - it seems as though Zoicite was not to be safe from the lead general's anger either that night. Zoicite for his part seemed unfazed by the exchange.
Zoicite released his hold on Minako's arm as Kunzite pulled the shaking girl into his own arms.
Endymion ran his fingers through his hair and rubbed the heels of his palms into his eyes. How could things get much worse he pondered to himself?
When he opened his eyes, Zoicite was standing at his side. Across the way, he saw a man who looked like none other than Magne Haldor. Zoicite called Endymion's name, pulling his attention away from the man. He shook his head and looked back again, finding that no one was standing there at all. The two men were near alone except for the occasional couple staggering past the stands.
"What did you see?" the prince asked.
Zoicite looked to him. "Everything."
