A/N: Did you miss me?! I missed you guys. I actually had fun writing this chapter and I hope you guys enjoyed. I'll update very soon.

"Brock Lesnar is an intensely, passionate competitor, who loves being WWE Champion almost as much as he loves sadistically beating the ass of any man who tries to take that title away from him. Brock Lesnar takes that title personally. Roman Reigns you better kick down Brock Lesnar's front door, take his wife, remove food off Brock Lesnar's children plates, watch his t.v, drive his car, claim ownership to his house, and rename his sons Reigns, if you want to take that title from Brock Lesnar. That's what it takes! That's the type of man you have to be because Roman Reigns, let me tell you right now, this is not a man, this is a BEAST! A conqueror who will kick down your front door, take your wife, and take the food off your children plates and rename them Lesnar. See that's a conqueror. And Brock Lesnar is a conqueror who conquers everything that stands in his way and this Sunday, Brock Lesnar conquerors the main event of WrestleMania. Now Roman Reigns can come out here and say 'I'll do all that. I believe that.' Roman Reigns, you say I can and I will, this Sunday at WrestleMania, the reigning, defending, undisputed, WWE Heavyweight Champion of the World, Brock Lesnar, says you can't. Therefore, Roman Reigns, you won't."
~!~
Now in the comfort of the backstage area, Joe took a deep breath. He couldn't believe how much his world seemed to be crashing down around him. Tha fans legitimately hated him, booed him every time he stepped in the ring. He saw what they wrote about on the wrestling dirt sheets, on social media, he heard the boos erupting in the arena. He was well aware of the criticism he was facing from the fans and even from the people backstage. By now, the world was well aware of his scandal and he knew people hated him for that. None of the divas would look his way, some of the people backstage, in general, wouldn't look his way. As much as he tried to pretend it didn't bother him, it was slowly eating him up inside. There was only so much a man could take.
And on top of that, the one person, the only person who he thought would have his back forever, wasn't even talking to him.
It had been almost a week – five days to be exact, since Lexi kicked him out the house. In five days he hadn't slept and hardly even ate because he was so messed up in the mind. He was torn. He was getting ready to have the biggest match – the greatest moment in his career and his support system was missing. His heart was broken, his thoughts were scattered. He was in no way ready to go into this alone. He knew it. And everyone around him was starting to know it.
"Hey Roman, do you mind if I have a word with you?" Joe spun around abruptly at the sound of Hunter's deep baritone behind him. So deep in thought, he didn't even realize that Hunter had been following him, calling his name for the past few moments.
"Um,' Roman swallowed hard. 'Yeah sure." Hunter turned on his heels, making his way to his makeshift office. Once they stepped inside, Roman began unwrapping the wrist tape from around his wrist, taking a seat on the leather recliner.
"Are you ready for Sunday?! We have some big plans in place for WrestleMania." Hunter rubbed his hands together, way too proud of himself.
However, Joe wasn't thrilled. He just simply shrugged, refusing to look up. "Yeah, I guess."
"Reigns, you okay? You've been a bit detached the last few days."
Joe shrugged again. "I'm fine."
"I talked to Rebecca. She says she hasn't seen you in a few days. She's been riding by herself." Hunter added, expecting a reaction from Joe, who just sat there.
"Yeah."
"Listen Joe.' Hunter took a seat on the armrest of the recliner. 'I get this is a hectic and tough time for you, I get it. But you need to understand, this is the biggest moment of your career and I need you to get your head in the game. This is a do or die match for you. Brock Lesnar is not an easy opponent. Probably the hardest one you'll ever encounter. Playtime is over. You understand where I'm coming from, don't you?"
Joe looked up, holding his discarded wrist tape in a ball in his hand. "Are you finish? I would like to hit the showers."
Hunter shrugged, realizing there wasn't nothing left for him to say to Joe. So he let him go about his evening, sending him a gesture towards the door. Joe took the notion as he stood to his feet and exited the room, making his way to the men's locker room.
He had less than a week to get his thoughts together – his mind in the right place. Or he was going to lose everything.
Lexi sat in the hard metal seat in the waiting room of her doctor's office. Her feet was swollen and she couldn't see them over her huge belly. Her back ached and she hadn't gotten a good night sleep in three days. On top of that, the baby was kicking her constantly. She just wasn't in a good head space at all. It had been almost a week since she put Joe out and as much as she believed that she would be stressed free without him around, she was missing him like crazy. But she was hurt and she wanted him to feel how she was feeling. And from what she was hearing, he wasn't doing so well either. Some of the divas were keeping tabs on him for her and they made it very clear that he was really out of it lately and had been avoiding everyone. She kinda felt bad that he was going through this but it was a lesson learned.
"Alexis Santana?"
Lexi looked up from the magazine that was the disguise for her deep ponder, once hearing her name being called by the nurse. She was now scheduled to have an appointment with Dr. Amen once a week instead of every other week.
"Right this way." The nurse announced as Lexi followed her to the room. After giving a urine sample, getting her pressure taken, and getting her weight checked, Lexi waited patiently for Dr. Amen. Lexi was starting to hate silence – it always caused her thoughts to scatter, luckily her phone started vibrating in her pocket, letting her know she had a text coming through. She smiled once she saw it was from Megan.
U finished yet?
Nope. Haven't seen the doc yet.
Well damn. I'm almost done shopping. I'll call u when I'm done.
Lexi rolled her eyes, with a smirk.
K.
Just as the text sent, Dr. Amen stepped from behind the closed door, closing it back shut once she was inside. Her face was fixed with a warm smile as always.
"Hello Lexi. How are we feeling today?" Dr. Amen asked, eyes focused on her clipboard.
Lexi cleared her throat while trying to sit up on the exam table.
"I've had better days." Lexi replied, providing a weak smile.
"Not getting much sleep huh?" Dr. Amen laughed, as she pressed her stethoscope against Lexi's hard belly and moving the probe around.
Lexi cracked a smile of her own. "Nope. None at all."
"Well, you might what to use Joe for the support.' Lexi swallowed hard at the mention of Joe. 'When you're in the bed trying to sleep, you should lay with your back to Joe's chest and let him cradle your body and belly, while you use a pillow to support your legs. And when he isn't home, you might want to get you a cushioned bed chair, so you can sit up and have back support. Have you been having back pains?"
Lexi nodded. "A few. In my lower back. But it hasn't been too bad."
"Well,' Dr. Amen blew a light breath from her lips. 'That can be a sign of preterm labor and since we already have you on bedrest, we have to closely keep an eye on you. Now I got your blood pressure results back and they are fairly high for the average woman, but since you're pregnant, it's okay to see that your pressure has increased to accommodate you and you're baby's growing needs."
"So my pressure being high doesn't necessarily mean I'm stressed?"
"No, not necessarily. But you don't what to be stressing out about anything because at the same time, if it gets too high, it can be unhealthy."
After Lexi and Dr. Amen talked some more, Dr. Amen made Lexi lay back as she performed another ultrasound.
"Okay, let's see what we have here.' Dr. Amen smiled, moving the probe around Lexi's huge belly. Lexi kept her focus on the monitor.
'So, your baby looks to be weighing about four pounds, which is big for 32 weeks. But no worries, we've agreed you're having a big Samoan baby.' Dr. Amen's comment caused Lexi to giggle, thoughts of Joe crossed her mind.
'Now Lexi, I've never had a Samoan man before, but I'm guessing that this,' Dr. Amen pointed to the screen, 'is normal. At least we know for sure it's a boy." Indeed, her and Joe's son's penis was quite visible, causing Lexi to laugh out loud.
Finally, the doctor turned the screen off, handing Lexi a towel to wipe the gel from her stomach.
"So, I see that you've gained two pounds since I last saw you, which is good. The baby now has his fingernails and toenails, and even some little peach fuzz on his head. Now the important thing I wanted to talk to you about is who should be in the labor room with you.'
Lexi nodded as she sat up on the exam table, waiting for Dr. Amen to continue. 'There is no right decision on who should be allowed in the room with you. I know that Joe is always traveling and might not make the birth, so you might want a back-up. I also know you have another baby, so you want a relative around to take care of her during the birth and even a few weeks afterwards." Dr. Amen continued.
"Well,' Lexi cleared her throat. 'This isn't my first rodeo. I know what to expect going into this, but Joe doesn't. I get that he might not make it, but he is the only person I want in there other than you."
"Are you sure?"
"I am. My best friend is in town until I give birth and then she is expected to leave not too soon after that. So, Joe's parents is going to be looking after our daughter, while it's just me and the newborn since Joe will be working."
"So he's not going on paternity leave?" Dr. Amen looked concerned.
Lexi shrugged. "Probably not. But I'm fine with that."
"Lexi, are you sure everything is okay with you and Joe? I get the sense something is wrong." Dr. Amen looked concerned, her brows began to crease.
Lexi signed loudly. "Not going to lie, but we are having some problems right now. He's busy working and stuff and so that leaves me to just do everything on my own concerning the baby. And by all means, I'm okay with that. I've given birth to our first daughter and carried her for nine months all by myself. I'm not worried about anything else, other than having my son."
"Lexi.' A weary breath escaped Dr. Amen's mouth. 'I know that I'm your GYN and not your therapist, and I get that you're all about being strong for your family and you always put that big S on your chest, but you need your husband. You guys are going to be bringing a new life into this world – a beautiful baby boy. And I'm not here to tell you that you can't do this on your own, there are plenty of women who do. But you have the support system there – you have Joe. Don't be afraid to fall back on him, because you're going to need him. He's going to need you. And I get that you had your daughter by yourself, but that doesn't mean that you should feel like you have to have this baby by yourself. Do you understand?"
Lexi nodded.
"Now, I'll give you some time to think about what I'm saying.' Dr. Amen continued. 'Take care of yourself Lexi, and I'll see next week."
Before Dr. Amen could leave, Lexi stopped her. She realized that she did need Joe – she needed him more than anything right now. And she realized he needed her right now as well. They needed each other. And no matter the circumstances, she was his support system. And she wasn't about to give anyone the satisfactory to believe she wasn't. This wasn't the first time she had to fight for Joe, and it wasn't going to be the last.
"Hey, Dr. Amen." Lexi started.
Dr. Amen turned around abruptly, giving Lexi her full attention. "Yeah?"
Lexi sighed loudly before continuing. "I know I'm supposed to be on bedrest and all. But Joe is having one of the biggest matches of his career and I know he's going to need me there with our daughter, supporting him. The event is all the way in Santa Clara. But I need to get on that plane and be there for him."
"Lexi, I don't know about that. I will be taking a huge risk letting you go."
"Please."
Dr. Amen sighed. "Okay fine. You've been doing well lately in managing the stress of everything with the passing of your sister in law and whatnot. On top of that, you're not 36 weeks yet so you can still fly on a plane safely, so here's the deal. You can go, but I'm calling an old friend of mine, Dr. Boson. He is a GYN and when you land in California, I want you to schedule an appointment with him. If he reports back to me anything out of the usual – and I mean anything, I'm sending you home. You understand?"
Lexi nodded.
"Okay. I'll see you next week. You know if anything comes up, you let me know."
Lexi saluted her playfully. "Gotchu."
With a smile, Dr. Amen turned on her heels and exited the room leaving Lexi by herself. It wasn't long after that did Lexi follow Dr. Amen out the room and out to the parking lot where Megan was waiting patiently in the car. As angry as she was with Joe, it was time that she came to her senses and do the right thing.
"Hey chicka, you okay?"
Lexi glanced briefly at her friend in the driver's seat, before removing her finger from her mouth, where she chewed on her white painted nails restlessly. She flashed a quick smile before turning her focus to the view outside the passenger window.
"I'm good Meg."
"Are ya sure? Cos it seems like you got something on your mind. Did everything go well with the doctor?"
Memories of her major blow-up at Joe a few days before, was becoming an ever-present thought in her mind. She kept replaying the incident over and over in her mind, even lying to herself subconsciously about the fact that she was mostly wrong for reacting in the way she did. "No, everything went just fine with the doctor. She's even allowing me off bedrest. It's just, I have a lot going on in this brain of mine right now."
"I see.' Megan nodded as she switched lanes on the highway. "Thinking about Joe, huh?"
Lexi cut her eye at Megan. "I think I messed up."
"Gee, you think?"
Lexi sent Megan a grimace with a roll of her eyes, but she knew her friend was right. "I might have overreacted a little." Lexi used her index and thumb to measure a small portion.
"Oh no. You over-reacted a lot." Megan explained, turning onto the exit to turn off the highway.
Lexi sucked her teeth. "I did not! How was I supposed to react? The proof was in the pudding! He lied to me and then he was so concerned about how I found out and who told me that he never stopped to think that what he did was wrong."
"Yeah Lexi, and you didn't give him much of a chance to explain either."
Lexi rolled her eyes at Megan subconsciously as she wrapped herself tighter in the seat. "Megan, you know how I am about Joe. I play no games with him and the next female. You know this and he knows it too."
"Oh, trust me, I know that!' Megan appeased. 'However, you say you trust him, when you don't really trust him!"
Lexi smacked her lips loudly. Megan took her eyes off the traffic in front of her to glance at her friend who had grown silent as she squirmed in the seat. The fellow Latina had the feeling in her stomach that Lexi was feeling guilty and was even starting to miss Joe.
"So whatchu gonna do?" Megan asked, breaking the silence as she turned onto Lexi's street.
A weary sigh escaped from between Lexi's slightly parted lips. "I guess I should make things right again."
"I guess so."
Megan turned into the driveway of Lexi's house as she motioned for the garage doors to open. Once inside, Megan cut the engine as she turned to Lexi.
"You should let me throw you guys a baby shower." Confused, Lexi bit down on the corner of lip.
"A baby shower? What's that going to do?"
"Well,' Megan shrugged. 'It could get you guys together. All of you guys family and friends will be there and we get to celebrate. It would bring you guys together and you get to see how much you love each other and remember you guys are having a baby."
Lexi continued to nervously chew on her lip. She exhaled softly, thinking about Megan's plan. "I was just going to go to WrestleMania and show him support, so he could see that even though we are having our problems, I'm still there to support him."
"That's good.' Megan agreed. 'But a baby shower can also be good too on top of going to WrestleMania. This is secret operation "Get Ya Man Back" and we are going to get Joe back."
"Meg, he hasn't gone anywhere!' Lexi snorted. 'We haven't broken up, I'm still wearing my ring,' Lexi held up her hand, showing the huge diamond on her finger. 'We are just not talking right now."
"A baby shower will fix that." Megan chimed.
"Ya know, I'm starting to think that you just want to throw me a shower."
"Duh! I've been dropping hints since I got here."
Lexi chuckled. "Okay fine. You can throw me a shower. But nothing too big and fancy. I know how you can get, so don't overdo it."
Yayyy!' Megan cheered as she threw her arms around her friend's neck. 'You're going to love it. It's going to be so fabulous. Vamos a la vuelta!"
"No we're not turning up at a baby shower! Showers are supposed to be classy and family-oriented. I swear to whatever God you pray to, don't overdo it."
"So that settles it. I'll throw you a shower and you're going to WrestleMania."
"Yup.' Lexi swung open the door and climbed out of it, slamming the door behind her as Megan followed. '…And you're coming to WrestleMania too, so I suggest you start packing." Lexi chuckled as she grabbed her purse and made her way into the house, leaving Megan standing there dumbfounded.
"Wait what?"
Joe adjusted his body to get comfortable on the bed in his hotel room. He had about an hour of downtime before he had to head to his signing. WrestleMania week was in full swing now with only four days until the big event. There was a lot of excitement and anxiety surrounding the biggest event of the year in sports entertainment, but Joe wasn't feeling much of it. He was starting to feel like his body was being borrowed and his mind was in no way up for the challenge that awaited him on Sunday. As good of a guy as Brock was, he was still a tough competitor nonetheless and if your mind wasn't in the right place, you wasn't going to last very long in a grueling match with the beast. And if Joe didn't get his mind in the right place before Sunday, things were going to end badly.
So deep in thought he didn't realize that his phone was ringing on the nightstand, signaling him of a FaceTime call he was getting. He grew nervous – yet excited once he saw Lexi's name on the screen. He quickly answered, only to see his daughter's face appear on the screen.
"Hi daddy!"
"Hi princess. How's my baby doing?" Joe had never been happier to see the warm smile of his daughter. If only he could hold her in his arms.
"I had a good day in school, daddy."
"That's good princess. Tell me about it."
As Mellie carried on about her day in school, Joe couldn't help but notice the sight of Lexi in the background. She was moving around, her belly poking out as she looked so beautiful. He was so mesmerized by her that he had stopped listening to what his daughter was saying. And obviously, Mellie knew too.
"Daddy,' She whined. 'Are you listening to me?"
"Yes sweetie, I'm listening." He lied as Amelia continued. When Joe knew she was finished her detailed story, he interrupted her.
"Hey sweetie, do you mind if I speak to mommy. Can you give her the phone?"
Mellie smiled as she turned towards her mother. "Mommy, daddy wants you."
Some movement took place as the screen paused. In mere moments, Lexi appeared on the screen. Fresh faced and glowing.
"Hey." He swallowed hard, his nerves beginning to get the best of him. He stared into her eyes and he didn't see a hint of the anger he saw the last time he saw her, giving him the signal that he could precede.
"How are you? How's the baby?" He grabbed his water bottle, taking a sip as he awaited her response.
"I'm doing well. The baby is great."
There was an awkward silence between them, before Lexi continued. "Thanks for the flowers. They're beautiful." Lexi took her eyes off the screen, as she twirled with one of the petals. When her and Megan got back home from the doctor, a beautiful vase full of her favorite flowers sat on the kitchen counter with a card simply saying "I'm Sorry" in Joe's hand-written. Megan revealed that she signed for them while Lexi was at the doctors.
"I really am sorry Lex. I really fucked up…badly."
Lexi's gaze settled back on Joe as she saw the defeat in his eyes. "Yeah, I know. I'm sorry too that I didn't give you the chance to explain yourself."
Joe exhaled, shaking his head. "No, I shouldn't have to explain because it should not have happened. I wasn't doing what I was supposed to be doing and I'm sorry."
As much as Joe didn't want to care or apologize because he didn't believe he did anything wrong, sitting in a bar the night before, with his co-workers and friends, who were all having a good time, yet he was miserable, just told him that he wasn't going to be okay until he fixed things with Lexi. And not just some flowers and a card that he sent the day before, would fix anything.
"I actually had Amelia FaceTime you so that we can talk. I wanted to let you know that me, Mellie, and Meg, will be landing in Santa Carla Friday night. I believe your parents and the gang will be flying in tonight."
"Wait – you're coming to WrestleMania. With Mellie. Pregnant?!" Joe was surprised.
"Yes. I – Alexis Santana, your bride to be, your biggest fan, will be at WrestleMania. Yes – I will." She giggled.
"Oh my gosh!' Joe was excited, he almost jumped for joy but he did his best to compose himself in front of her. "But wait, what about the being on bedrest thing?"
"Don't worry about all that. I talked to Dr. Amen and she is giving me a pass to go. And besides I'm not 36 weeks yet. So, I'll be there."
Joe was a father first and foremost. He was getting concerned that the plane ride, the traveling, the whole experience of WrestleMania, would just be too much for Lexi and for his son.
"I could see it in your face you're stressing, but I'll be fine Joe."
Lexi did always have a way of reading him.
As nervous as he was, he still sent his fiancée a playful glare. He sat up on the hotel bed, adjusting himself as he glanced at the clock. His tired eyes rested on Lexi again, sending her a lazy smile.
"I got to get ready to go soon. I have a signing to do."
A half smile crept onto the corners of Lexi's lips. "I love you Joe. You better not forget it."
Joe laughed. "I know. I want you to know that I love you even more. And I'm soooo very sorry. About everything! I promise this won't happen again."
Joe ran his hand over his slick ponytail and exhaled. His long raven tresses rested in a bun at the nap of his neck. He understood that he nor Lexi was prefect, just like no couple could ever be. But she was perfect enough for him and that's all that mattered. And from now on, it was time that he understood that.
Lexi flashed a blushing smile. "I know and I'm sorry for overreacting like I did. I gotta go, I have some shopping to do before the flight."
"I'll call you tonight?"
"I would love that."
"I just can't wait till you get here. It's been a while little lady if you know what I mean."
Lexi's face crimsoned while her hollows deepened. It had been awhile since they've been intimate and she was missing him badly. But she felt so unattractive that she just wasn't in the right mind to do it.
Joe could notice the change in Lexi's demeanor as her face sadden. "What's the matter, Lex?"
Lexi shrugged. "I just don't feel sexy enough for you for all of that."
"Oh please.' Joe's voice dropped an octave. 'You'll always be sexy to me."
Lexi couldn't stop herself from blushing. Her and Joe's conversation was interrupted at the sound of Mellie calling for her mother.
"Okay, I'm official going this time. I'll talk to you later."
Joe laughed. "Okay."
And with that the screen went black, signaling that Lexi had hung up. The foul mood that Joe found himself in earlier had disappeared. He got the chance to talk to his babies and now they were coming out to see him. His day had gone from worst to great. And all it took was a simple FaceTime conversation.
He and Lexi was getting past this – they were moving on together. And he was promising that they were going to get through all of this. One step at a time.
A/N: I just had to get Lexi and Joe back on the same page. Like always, yall know they could never break up forever.
Preview for next chapter: WrestleMania and Hall of Fame coverage, also Lexi AND Rebecca come face to face for the first time. Ya'll know it's going to be some problems. Stay Tune.
