Far away, in the rolling green land of a country largely unknown and left alone by the godly world, a woman carrying a baby, both rewound in time, begged shelter at the door of a sprawling mansion.
The couple that lived there allowed her in, and she and the child became the family they'd never had.
And, a bit later on, when another woman happened to come to the door, begging shelter, she and the first woman became good friends.
When the couple who'd owned the mansion died, they left it to the two women and the child, having no heirs of their own. When the second woman eventually started her own family and moved away, the two women kept in close contact.
Some time later, a monster stumbled upon the mansion, not hindered at all by the wards set up against demonic origin, for it was of the godly world, entirely different than the world of those who lived in that far off country. It was attracted by the growing child, her scent strong enough to attract it all the way across the country.
It was at that point that the first woman decided something needed to be done to protect the child. She called up her friend, and they agreed on a course of action. The current fate of the child they both cared for, after having known and raised her as long as they did, had been decided. And this time, the child herself was rewound, not just the time she was in.
(If you can't tell, in the epilogue, the first woman and the child she had with her are Aliya and Everly, after having traveled some. Mikayla and Sage told her to go where no one would find her, so she left the godly world behind entirely.)
The epilogue is really short, but it sets up nicely for Part V. (The current working title is More Than An Enigma, but that might change.)
