***ATTENTION!: THIS IS AN UPDATED VERSION OF CHAPTER 19. THERE'S BEEN MORE ADDED ON TO THE END OF THIS CHAPTER. I THOUGHT IT WAS TOO SHORT AND THE ENDING WAS NOT SATISFACTORY. I HOPE THIS IS MORE ENJOYABLE AND STILL MAKES SENSE.***Author's Note: I am SO SORRY that it's taken me this long to post this chapter; I really got stuck with where I wanted it to go and so this is what came of it. And it didn't come out as long as I wanted but oh well.
Chapter 19
Alice decided that a detour was in order for an impromptu need for a small shopping spree. Her reason being? She tells Bella that she needs a new wardrobe to go alongside her new life. Bella shook her head and rolled her eyes; she knows Alice would think up any reason for a chance to go shopping.
Though the shopping was brief according to Alice-long for normal people like Bella- they made a quick stop at an Antique Furniture store where they poked around for a bit. While Bella was still admiring some of the pieces Alice was placing an order to be (shipped or picked up?) in the next few days.
Finally, at least for Bella, they were on their way back home. However, before they made it home Bella requested that they stop so that she could... "eat" for her 'unnatural' side, where human food could not satisfy. Alice agreed stating that she could grab a snack as well.
Nevertheless, since Alice has been around long enough to perfect her hunting skills, both quickly and cleanly, she decided to observe Bella on how her skills fair and what she does with the animal she acquires. Well, hopefully acquires. Bella had told her how she hasn't gotten the hang of smoothly sneaking up on something and usually just ends up just lunging a few times until she pulls it close enough to let her "beast" have its fill.
She found her, stalking her prey and surprisingly quietly for Bella, a small group of deer. Her eyes seemingly singling out one of the younger bucks. Alice was mentally encouraging her on, pushing her to strike. Though it did not happen as Alice had wanted Bella finally made her move. As soon as she had a full grip on the male deer the rest of the herd scattered, scampering off into the protection of the trees. Alice watched while in Bella's hold the buck just sunk slowly down, his body becoming so drained of life that his body became a pile of skin and bones. The animal's body looked caved in on itself, as if only the muscles had been removed without the carcass being opened and physically removed.
Another thing Alice noticed that even though Bella seemed to be a little awkward in her catch a look came over Bella's face, as if her being had shifted into a predator. Alice pondered how glorious she'd become once she had her hunting capabilities down, more practiced.
Right at that thought Alice's eyes went glazed and unfocused as she was captured into a vision. She saw what she was just thinking about, how Bella would become a better hunter. However, the more she paid attention to her vision she realized that Bella would become the ultimate huntress-a super predator. Possibly could be more dangerous than Alice herself.
She came out of her vision, she was trying to decipher the timing for when her vision would take place but she was unable to cipher it just yet. Even though she was not able to tell when, Alice was excited to see Bella become the strong person she's always meant to be and how she has always been but never realized.
She came back to the present and concluded that Bella was done with her "snack."
"Bella?" Alice addressed her. Bella looked up to Alice, "are you ready to get back home?" Bella looked back to the dead animal and asked if they should just leave it there and Alice just nodded her head yes. Then they made their way back to the car.
Once there Alice punched on the gas pedal, although that wasn't out of the ordinary for her, and finished their journey home. She was eager to ask Bella what goes through her mind when she was in hunting mode…
She did not know how to digest all the information that she had obtained on this short trip. It's not anything she has ever heard of or think she would see with her eyes- present and future.
Alice decided to ask Bella anyways, "Bella?" she asked. "Hmm?" said Bella. Alice was trying to figure out to word her question now that she had her attention. "Bella, what goes through your head in that moment?" Bella gave her a puzzled look so Alice tried to clarify her question, "I mean, when you were hunting, what are you thinking then, in the act of?"
Bella seemed to contemplate Alice's question for a minute which was driving Alice crazy because did not have the greatest patience in this case. "I don't really think of anything, honestly," she answered, which confused Alice and it showed on her face so Bella continued. "Whatever makes me what I am- and I do not even know what call it- just takes over and feels like…I don't know…almost a 'primal' instinct but still had control over that feeling. I'm there but not really there..." She gave Alice a look that asked her if she understood what she meant. "I can say that on both…parts?...of me get a sort of satisfaction high. But I do not feel as if I need more and more in the end of the hunt. I guess that is a way to say it," she had an unclear expression on her face. "At least, so far I have not experienced the need for more and more energy, looking for a fix; I hope it never comes to something like that."
After that they just kept silent, each pondering what this could all mean for her –Bella- and what could be the future outcome.
Alice would not of understood if she had seen any of this in one of her visions, she was still questioning it in the actual present. She would have brief flickers of future events but nothing she would be able to decipher unless something became more solid. Right now she just concentrated on the ride home, randomly asking Bella questions about school and other such nonsense. They were almost home anyways.
