Sorry this is so late. No worries, to make up for it I will post another chapter longer than this one this week.
Thanks for all the reviews and follows! You guys are amazing and keep me motivated to write my story.
So let me know what y'all think!
Raf's POV:
My soul felt light in weight, like I hadn't known in years as I helped my mother put the chocolate chip cookies in the oven. I smiled up at her as I breathed in deeply, the smell of blood and smoke filling my lungs. I quickly frowned up at my mother, who continued to smile at me. I sniffed again, smelling the same thing. A loud bark woke me from my sleep. Jack stood at attention as he barked at the figure by my bed, blood and smoke coming off of him. "MOTHER OF GOD!" I yelled out. My Tío quickly flicked the light to my room on, revealing himself in the doorway and Derek's half way wolfed out form as he approached the figure. I stared wide-eyed at the guy. Garrett stood in front of me shaking; blood caked in his hair and on his shirt, none of it smelling like his.
"I-I think I… I-I killed someone." Garrett's voice was equally as shaky as his body. None of us moved as we stared at him. Jack gave another bark, knocking me out of my stupor.
"Tío, go make sure he didn't track anything in that would give him away." I flung the covers off of my body and led Garrett quickly to my shower as we both stepped in fully clothed. I turned on the water, trying to make it comfortably warm as Derek watched from the side of the bathtub. "Garrett, I need you to show me your eyes. Do you know how to do that yet?"
"No! I don't know how to do anything yet! That's the point! I couldn't resist him like Scott did. And the full moons tomorrow night." Garrett panted as he began to freak out.
"Try." Derek spoke for the first time that night. I almost snapped at Derek to let Garrett calm down, but realized this was probably our best chance at seeing what color his eyes were.
"I am trying!" Garrett growled at him, his eyes flashing an electric blue. I shared a quick glance with Derek and immediately went to washing the blood off his face.
"Ok, it's going to be ok, just calm down. Breath. Focus on the fact that we need to clean you up." I soothed as I ran my fingers through his hair. A large clump came out of his hair with my hand as I pulled it away. I looked at it behind his back; it was a clump of human skin. I calmly handed it to Derek, so as to not alarm Garrett by my movement. Derek took it and slowly threw it in the trashcan. I ran my fingers through his hair a few more times, both calming him and making sure that there was no more human skin. Finally satisfied, I stepped out of the shower. "Throw me your clothes and wash up. Stay in there as long as you need." I closed the curtain and waited for his clothes. Once handed to me, I decided to go ahead and throw them out with the clump of skin. I tied up the bag as we left the bathroom. Neither Derek or I spoke as we waited for my Tío to return. Derek sat at the bar and watched as I flitted around the kitchen and cleaned my already clean things. I couldn't keep myself still. Finally giving up on finding something to keep myself busy, I watched the numbers on the clock slowly turn from 4am until they reached 6am.
"Is the boy still here?" I jumped as my Tío's voice broke the silence when he came through the door. I nodded as I waited patiently. "Hubo un doble asesinato anoche. Él pudo haber matado a un inocente."
"I have a theory. What if the alpha is going after people responsible for the Hale fire. Y si él no mató a gente inocente?" I looked to Derek for conformation, before realizing he might not speak Spanish.
"Es posible." Oh good, he did speak Spanish. "Todo lo que sé con certeza es que lo hizo matar a alguien anoche."
"You guys do know that I'm in fourth level Spanish class and know what your saying right?" Garrett's voice came from the bathroom.
"Oh for the love of peanut butter! Of course you speak Spanish, Garrett. What don't you excel at in school?" I grumbled to myself. I threw the trash bag full of evidence at my Tío. "Do you mind dumping this somewhere that can't be found?" Tío gave me a curt nod as I mumbled my thanks. Not even two seconds had passed when a knock came on my door and it began to open.
"Raf? Have you –" Madison was cut off by Derek slamming the door shut. I quickly latched the chain as Derek stepped away. "Uhm, is everything ok?" She cracked the door open as far as it would let her. Derek made a gesture for me to not say a word about him.
"Uhhhhh, yes. Just let me hide something." I wildly gestured for Derek to leave the room.
"Like what? What would you possibly have to hide from me?" Derek pointed to the open crack in the door, which would show himself to Madison.
"Liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiike my porn addiction." I slapped myself in the face as Derek rolled his eyes at me.
"What are you –" I slammed the door shut in Madison's face and dead bolted the lock.
"Do not tell her about me being alive. She'll tell Stilinski, who will then tell Scott." Derek ordered me as I shoved him back toward my bedroom.
"I'm really getting tired of not being able to tell my best friend things." I grunted as Derek purposefully put more weight and force against my efforts.
"No telling about Garrett's night time adventures either." I huffed against him as he slowly stopped moving and I began sliding to the floor.
"I can still hear you guys." Garrett comment from the bathroom, sounding annoyed that we were talking about him like he wasn't there.
"Shut up." Derek and I simultaneously said.
"Anything else you want me to not talk about, your highness?" I grumbled when Derek suddenly moved, causing me to fall on my face rather painfully.
"Yes. Don't talk about anything annoying." I could literally hear the smirk in his voice. I huffed as I quickly stood up and slammed the door in his face. As soon as I had the door unlocked, Madison it flung open, almost hitting me in the face. She looked around my apartment suspiciously.
"Hey?" I awkwardly waved. Madison narrowed her eyes at me as she inspected the kitchen.
"What were you really doing?" Madison stared at me intently, waiting for an answer.
"Nothing that you need to worry about at this moment." I vaguely replied as I got an oatmeal cream pie from my pantry.
"Why are you keeping things from me all the sudden? Do you not trust me?" Guilt ate at my stomach, making me no longer feeling hungry. "First with your supernatural herbal healing crap, and now Garrett being a werewolf?"
"In my defense, when I told Patrick about the herb crap, it was because he was the oldest and I figured at 15 year old was more likely to remember than a 13 or 11 year old." Madison stared at me unimpressed. "And Garrett asked me to keep it a secret just for a day or two."
"Way to throw me under the bus." Garrett grumbled from the bathroom. I cleared my throat, trying my best to ignore him.
"Believe it or not we were going to tell you that night." I added for Garrett's benefit. "And I do trust you. Always have. From the moment I met you."
"Well it's starting to make me not trust you." A pregnant pause filled the room. "Are you going to keep any more things from me? Or can I trust you?" My stomached turned with guilt and the struggle to remain loyal.
"Don't even think about it." Derek's voice came to my ears from the bedroom, but it was already too late.
"Derek's in my bedroom." I blurted. Madison looked at me startled, but kind of like she expected it. "I have a bullet proof safe room that I built into the apartment." Madison looked at me with wide eyes.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" Derek sighed from the other room. I could practically see him holding his head as he shook it.
"And Garrett killed someone last night." If it was even possible Madison's eyes got even larger.
"WHAT!" She screeched, causing me to flinch.
"Yeah, he's taking a bath." I gestured to my bedroom door. "But now I will always be completely honest with you." I gave a smile that was more like a grimace.
"Garrett killed someone!" Madison screeched. I let out a loud laugh, causing Madison to look at me like I was crazy.
"Wait, that was the wrong emotion. You're making me feel awkward. Wrong emotions and words come out when I feel awkward." I gave a short pause. "It's not like he did it on purpose, the alpha made him."
"Oh my god. What are we going to do about the full moon tonight?" Madison held her head in her hands.
"Let me worry about that. I've got Garrett taken care of. You guys just worry about Scott." Madison nodded before her head shot up quickly.
"Wait!" She yelled, causing me to wince. "We have to deal with Scott tonight on our own?"
"No, of course not. Derek is going to help you. But we aren't telling Scott and Stiles. We want to let them panic a little as payback for throwing Derek to the wolves." There was a short pregnant pause. "No pun intended…"
"So, don't say anything to Scott and Stiles. Got it. What about Patrick?" Madison took the forgotten oatmeal crème pie from my hand and began to eat it. I made an offended noise before snatching it back and stuffing the rest in my mouth.
"I gueff you can fell Pachwick." I few specks of food flew from my mouth, causing Madison to flinch backward.
"In English please." I swallowed painfully.
"I guess you can tell Patrick. Just make sure he doesn't tell. Shouldn't you be getting to school?" I glanced at the clock that now said 7am.
"I came to get Garrett. Is he not coming?" Madison glanced over her shoulder to my closed bedroom door.
"I think it's best if he stays home today. Make up whatever you need to." I waved her off as I walked her out the door. I jumped when I turned around and Derek was standing there. Derek glared at me as I shifted my weight from foot to foot awkwardly.
"Hungry?" I quickly sidestepped him as I made my way toward the kitchen, ignoring the footsteps that followed me.
"What part of 'Don't tell her I'm alive' was hard for you to understand?" I quickly grabbed my poptart and began munching on it before turning around.
"Probably the her part. You see the use of pronouns with out having a noun that it refers back to in an earlier sentence is rather vague. It could have meant anyone. Technically speaking, English is not my first language." Derek's eyes switched to blue as he glared at me. "Don't stare at me with that tone of voice." Garrett finally came out of the bedroom.
"You've been here since you were 4 years old Raf, I'm pretty sure you don't get to pull the 'I'm not American enough' card." Garrett smirked at me as I shot him a glare.
"Stay here with him. I'm going out." Derek grabbed his jacket as he began to walk to the door.
"Stay here? What am I? A dog sitter?" Derek stopped with his hand on the handle as he turned to glare at me. He glanced at Jack, who laid on the couch. "Just because I have a dog, doesn't mean I dog sit."
"Can we stop with the really lame dog jokes?" Garrett's annoyed voice snapped at me. Well, this was going to be fun. He's already more short tempered than usual. I chose to not respond to his question since I myself was feeling a little more short tempered than normal.
"Going to stalk Scott? I had no idea you were so in love with the boy. He seems just a little young for you." Derek's eyes flashed blue again. "Besides, I seem to recall a certain someone being the most wanted man in the state, possibly even the country." Derek continued to glare at me as I stood waiting for his answer.
"I really don't think he cares, Raf." Garrett mumbled from behind me. I let out a large sigh.
"Just go stalk your boyfriend." I huffed as I shoved a still glaring Derek out the door. I turned back to Garrett.
"So, what do we do while we wait?" Garrett picked up my half eaten poptart and began to eat it himself. I quickly snatched it out of his hand.
"What is with your family members and stealing my food?" I growled out as I stuffed the rest of the poptart in my mouth. Garrett rolled his eyes as he went to get another.
"Don't know about you, but I'm in the mood to play some World of Tanks." Garrett sent me a smirk. "Did you know that American tanks had a 10% break down rate in World War 2. They were meant to work for a short time since they were mass-produced and could be easily be replaced. So they didn't care much about quality at the time." I stared at him with a blank face before turning and walking to my room to sleep some more. "So…that's a no?" He called after me. I slammed my door shut in response.
Translation: "There was a double murder last night. He may have killed an innocent.", "What if he killed not innocent people?", "It's possible.", "All I know for sure is that he did kill someone last night."
