Umm... what? It has been nearly a year since the last update?
So sorry, lovely patient readers!
This one is a little shorter, but I thought better than waiting even longer!
I hope you enjoy!
Thank you to all you lovely people who have read, liked, followed, and left a review! You are all amazing.

"Erik, will you stop fussing, I'm fine!"

Erik frowns. "You may feel fine now, but you're only two weeks away from your due date, and I worry."

Charles sighs, and draws his Alpha in for a kiss.

"I appreciate that you want to make sure the twins and I are fine. But, honestly, we are as well prepared as we will ever be."

Erik sighs too, and hugs his mate close. "I'd just feel better if I could keep you in my sight. Preferably here in our bed."

"Not happening. I'll be in the school, which is a ten minute walk from here. If anything happens, I'll send a kid to fetch you."

Erik nods reluctantly. "Okay. But you'll send a kid the minute you feel worse. Or even slightly unwell. Promise me"

"I promise. I'll be fine, Erik."

After a last kiss Erik finally lets him go, and Charles grabs his bag and hurries out of the door, before his Alpha changes his mind again.

All will be fine, honestly, Charles thinks while he walks to school. Hank is only half an hour away for a quick horse and rider, and Max is one of the fastest in Westchester county. The farmhands have been doing races against the clock to determine who will get the honour to fetch Hank. Alex won, unsurprisingly. He still hasn't gotten up the courage to actually ask Hank how he feels about a courtship, but he has become a little less shy around him. Whenever Charles has a check up at Hank's place, he makes sure to take Alex along "for carrying the shopping home" and then invites Hank to lunch with them. They seem to get along splendidly.

Perhaps they'll get closer in a few weeks when Hank is coming over to help with the birth.

Charles has talked at length with all his Omega friends about their experiences. Ruth was especially helpful, because she also had twins in similar circumstances. She taught him some exercises that are meant to help him relax his muscles and to keep breathing. Hank brought him pain relieving tea already, so they are all set for when the contractions start.

By now, Charles just wants the whole business to be over and done with. It's getting really uncomfortable to walk around with this huge belly. Thank god for Erik and his boys, because he can't even tie his own shoes anymore. But his mate and their boys make sure he doesn't have to. Or lift anything heavy. Or bend over in the fields. Honestly, not having to do any chores he doesn't want is quite a nice side effect of the pregnancy. Still, Charles would gladly start weeding the flower beds again if it meant that the babies were already there.

Ah well, it's only two more weeks now or so.

"Kitty, no! We use the door in this school, we don't climb in through the window!"

Kitty Pryde pouts, but obligingly vanishes from the window, and comes in through the door a minute later.

Charles gives her a smile. "Thank you."

Kitty smiles back, and joins her friends Jean and Bobby.

The children file in in little groups or alone, and Charles checks their names in the class register.

Victor and James Howlett arrive together, Victor vigilant as ever that no one even looks at his little brother in the wrong way. They are good boys, really, though they do get into fights now and then. Mostly because someone was mean to James, or Victor thought they were.

They spend a pleasant morning with history and mathematics, and then at recess Erik comes to visit with tasty treats. He has been doing that for the last few weeks, so Charles only rolls his eyes fondly.

"Hello, Liebling. Having a good morning?"

Charles smiles, and tugs Erik down for a kiss.

"Yes, thank you. I still feel quite well, too. How are things at home?"

"All is well. Mando is making lunch, it smells great already."

Charles' eyes are twinkling. "There is something else that smells good..."

Erik grins like a shark. "Is there? Your mate perhaps?"

Charles leans near to give him a sniff, and then a kiss. "You do smell nice, but no, I don't think you're the source."

Erik takes a box from out of a bag, and Charles eagerly opens it.

"Mhmmm, wif if delifious!" he moans with a mouth full of cookie.

Erik laughs. "Glad you like them. There are enough to share with your students, if you like."

Charles protectively gathers the box closer to himself, and gives his mate an incredulous look.

"Or not."

"I'm sharing with two babies, that should be enough," Charles proclaims after gobbling down his cookie, and then promptly stuffs another one in his mouth.

Erik raises his hands with a laugh. "I'm not gonna argue with you on that one."

The bell of the school rings, and the kids come running back to file inside, calling out "Hi, Mr Erik!" when they pass them.

Erik gives Charles a kiss, and a hand up. "I'll see you at lunch, my love, if not sooner."

Charles smiles at him. "Until lunch, Erik."

That's it for today, my darlings!
Next up we will have the actual birth FINALLY!
Honestly, poor Charles has been pregnant for YEARS now...
I hope you enjoyed! The journey is coming to an end soon, but there are still ideas for the future. If you like to see something, just drop me a line, I am very easily influenced by suggestions LOL
Thank you for reading, and sticking with me for so long!
