Sonia and Manic stood frozen in place, a combination of shock, disbelief, and shock on their faces. Their brother, the immature, thick headed blue hedgehog, had raised a four year old fox at the age of eleven. Through everything that had happened, he had taken it upon himself to take care of this abandoned fox, all by himself.

Said fox sniffled next to them. He had calmed down slowly through the story, but he was still shaken up. "After that adventure Sonic sorta adopted me as a little brother."

Sonia put a hand on his back, "And you're a welcome part of the family."

"And we'll get Sonic back." Manic added. Tails perked up at the two's words. Not only was he getting his brother back, but he was gaining two more siblings. "Now I'm not the youngest either!"

"Oh brother."

"Yes?"

Tails cracked up at Manic's joke. Even Sonia had to smile.

Cyrus, who had been stand a few away watching the three, now came in. "If we get the right equipment I might be able to track where Randell took Sonic."

"Yeah!" Sonia jumped up off the ground, "Let's do it to it!"

The other two boys followed in suit.

They all knew it was a trap.

When he had woken up there had been some weird blue energy surrounding him. Trapping him. Not being the one to like containment, he had tried kicking it. That didn't end too well for him.

Now he sat in the middle of the cell, thinking over- well everything. Whenever he wasn't running around he would think. Since that doesn't happen often though, people think of him as someone who really doesn't think that much. Who's always just doing everything on a whim. A feeling. Actually, if you left him alone long enough without him running off, you could see that isn't entirely true.

Like now, he was thinking about his family. His brother and sister. That day they met at the club. Him standing up on that stage rocking out on his guitar, and a green hedgehog joining him on the drums. Then a pink hedgehog jumping up to the piano. The beginning of the Sonic Underground.

And it almost came to an end thanks to that Egg-head screwing everything up. Of course he did meet some of the best friends he could ask for.

The Chaotix being… well. He didn't really know how to describe them as a unit. Vector had a good heart, Espio was skilled and very serious, and Charmy was…. Charmy. They worked well together but you had to wonder how they even met in the first place, coming from totally different backgrounds.

Team Dark, always being there to help. Shadow was a great rival and, whether he would admit it or not, friend. Rouge being really fun when she was annoying Knuckles and getting Shadow to help and come over to a lot of the stuff they always planned. And Omega for shooting down all the badniks. That was his number one priority after all.

Cream and Cheese, always being so polite and generous. He had never known her to say no to him when he asked her to do something. And of course Cheese for being do cute and lifting everyone's spirits.

Amy, even with her huge crush on him she was a great friend and fun to hang around with when she wasn't trying to pound you with her hammer. Which she did often. Of course it was slightly his fault that she wanted to in the first place.

And Tails. His best friend and his first friend.

He didn't get much farther as the strange man who had brought him here entered, with his hood still covering his face. He remembered that when he had come in a short while after he kicked the cell wall he had introduced himself as Randell.

"Good to see you're well Sonic." The hedgehog stayed silent, staring at the mysterious being in front of him. "Now do you have to be so stubborn? I'm just trying to make friendly conversation."

"Should have thought of that before you kidnapped me and dragged me away from my family." He briskly responded. He was willing to talk, but not friendly.

"I'm sorry but I had no choice. I really do like you Sonic. But to obtain what I need I must keep you here. You do understand?" he said this as if it was just something that happened every day. Like two friends having a simple argument. Well, they were not friends. That Sonic knew.

"You always have a choice. You could have just left us alone. But you 'had' to come in. You 'had' to take me." Sonic's voice was starting to raise and he had stood up.

"Take you away from your so called 'little brother'?" that crossed a line.

"You leave him alone!" he yelled at the top of his lungs, "He hasn't done anything to you!"

"No. He hasn't. Don't worry. I have no interest in your little play mate. And besides," he turned away from the cell, back towards the door, "You can't do much without that fancy medallion of yours."

Sonic stayed silent. He hadn't actually used that thing for battle in years. Ever since he had been teleported he had relied on his own skills to help him fight. He hadn't even used it for music before his party. But Randell didn't need to know that.

As soon as he had left Sonic plobbed back down on the floor and just laid there. He remembered one night in Mystical Ruins when Tails had been having problems sleeping so he had brought out his guitar and played until the fox had fallen asleep on his shoulder.

"Be okay little buddy."

When they got back to Freedom HQ they made sure not to tell anyone what had happened, but most people had guessed something bad had happened. What, they couldn't quite pinpoint.

"I'll be right back guys."

"Where you goin Tails?"

The fox started walking backwards to talk to the hedgehogs, "Just gotta do somethin real fast. I won't take long." And with that he flew off.

Sonia looked over to her brother, who only shrugged in response then went to the war room to plan their next move.

"Of course it's a trap! But what does that matter? We still need to get him out of there."

"I know we do, but what good would we be if we let him capture us too? We need to figure out what's going on before we can rush off to save him."

They had been going at this for fifteen minutes now. Arguing about the trap and if they should just attack straight on or make a plan. And it was getting really annoying.

"Would you guys chill?" Cyrus snapped, causing the two to go silent, "We won't be able to do anything if we don't even know where he is."

"Right sorry." Sonia muttered. "Why don't we talk about him saying that our medallions are more powerful than a chaos emerald?"

"Yeah. Seriously," Manic sat down next to Cyrus, "How is that even possible? And if he had been taking power from Knuckles's emerald then how did he not turn into some giant chaotic monster like Dingo?"

"That is a good question." Sonia walked up to them and sat on the table, "Maybe he learned to control it over time. Like exposing himself to the power little by little."

"I guess we'll have to do some research into him too." Cyrus leaned back in his chair, already feeling the exhaustion.

"No need." They spun around to see Tails in the doorway holding a large yellow computer with a satellite attached to the top. "I've already found plenty of info on him."

"Really?"

"Yep. It's right here." He taped the computer a few times until he brought up what he wanted. "Apparently, he's actually from another world all together. Around the time your medallions were made one of your jealous ancestors summoned him to help him steal them for himself. But Randell betrayed him. Instead of helping him steal them he got him caught and went into hiding, using the power of the master emerald to keep him alive. It started to grow smaller as he did so but the echidnas didn't notice since they kept it underground. But it also hid the emerald's signature from any prying eyes that would want to steal it or something. You guys were probably the first ones up there in decades. Maybe centuries." He took a deep breath, preparing for the next part of his speech, "If a strong enough power can combine the medallions then a weapon of mass destruction is created for a short amount of time. I guessing his plan is to steal the energy of the weapon for himself to grow even stronger."

There was silence for a few seconds. All of them trying to process what they had been told. Cyrus was the first to recover, "In that case we should start a plan no matter if we know where he is. If it's that bad we need to be well prepared. We can just alter it if we need to."

"Right. Let's get to work."

The three bent over the table, starting to map out the plan. How they would get inside and what sort of defenses this gut might have. The normal stuff.

As Tails walked over he muttered to himself, "And if that doesn't work, I've got our backup plan."
