"Hey, Natsu, look! I'm in Fairy Tail now!"
"TTTTThat's nice, Luigi."
"It's Lucy, you idiot!"
"Lucy?"
"Lucy."
"Lucy!" Lucy's eyes popped open as her mind tried to grasp what was left of her dream. But it slipped through her fingers and all she was left with was pink. Pink what, she didn't know. But something... Pink.
"Lucy! Hello?" Lucy finally registered the sound of the voice, and almost screamed. But right before any sound escaped her lips, a hand was clamped over her mouth. Her eyes hadn't gotten used to the darkness of her room yet, so she didn't recognize the figure, but the hand was so… Warm.
"Please. Don't scream. It's me. Natsu." Lucy relaxed, and Natsu gently pulled his hand from her mouth.
"Natsu."
"Yes?"
"How did you get here aND WHY DID YOU WAKE ME UP YOU-" His hand clamped onto her mouth again as he desperately shushed her.
"I-It wasn't easy. I… I just had to see you again, okay? You did promise to play hide and seek with me, remember?!"
Lucy's eyes softened as she remembered the promise she had made to the demon prince during her 'mission'. Yet she had made that promise anticipating that she was never going to see him again, after all, it was nearly impossible for a demon to go to heaven and an angel to go to hell.
"But how did you get here," Lucy thought out loud, her words muffled by the softening placement of the demon's hand. Natsu laughed nervously and scratched behind his head, his eyes looking anywhere but hers.
"Heh, funny story. How about I tell you after we play hide and seek?"
Lucy smiled gently and got up, stretching her limbs and her wings to relieve the tension sleeping had caused. Once again, Natsu couldn't help but stare in awe at Lucy. And her hair, her skin, her wings…. It was as if he were mesmerized. But he was snapped out of his trance when Lucy threw a black cloak over the beautiful white feathers and turned to face him.
"Well? Are we going?"

"So, one person hides, and another tries to find them. The hider is given 20 seconds to hide somewhere in the area. I'll seek first, okay?"
Lucy nodded her head, but seemed somewhat distracted. Cold air nipped at her skin and she felt so uncomfortable, so exposed. She wasn't supposed to be here, she knew that, and it was eating her away and making her ansy.
"Hey, Luce, you okay?" The demon asked, concern etched on his face. Lucy turned to face him and smiled gently. She instantly felt guilty for not listening, and wanted to make it up to him.
"Yeah, I'm fine. First time in Earthland and all. So what are the rules again?" Natsu chuckled at her words. Where did she expect them to go? They couldn't go to hell, or she would be screwed over, and they couldn't go to heaven, or he would be screwed over. The only option left was Earthland, a place Natsu escaped to a lot when the pressure of life got to him.
"Just hide somewhere nearby. I'll find you. Okay?"
"Okay," Lucy said with a smile before walking off to find somewhere to hide. The demon began to count loudly, and Lucy started to worry again. What if someone found them? How would her father feel about this? She shook these thoughts out of her head and found a gazebo to hide in. She slipped underneath a table inside of the large structure and waited patiently until Natsu's voice vanished.
She could hear his feet crunching leaves nearby, and Lucy suddenly felt the urge to… giggle. Maybe it was because he was so close and couldn't find her, or maybe it was the plain stupidity of the game, but she couldn't stop. She hadn't ever laughed like this before, and that thought alone just made her hysterical.
The bubbly sound filled the air, and Natsu, obviously knowing where she was now, couldn't help but smile. She sounded like a little kid, and Natsu found it absolutely adorable. As quietly as possible, he jumped over the bushes surrounding the gazebo and onto the railing. Lucy was laughing too hard now to notice the figure looming over her with a grin, so she continued giggling, curled up on the cold wooden floor.
As swiftly and carefully as he could, Natsu swooped down and picked Lucy up from underneath the table, bridal style. Lucy's giggle's stopped abruptly and in their place was a surprised shriek. Natsu laughed heartily at her reaction as he carried her away from the structure she had been hiding in.
"What a weirdo," Natsu gasped between laughs, "The point of this game is to not get caught." Lucy pouted, turning away from her 'captor'.
"I'm not a weirdo… And I can walk y'know," She grumbled. Natsu hummed in response, but didn't put her down. Lucy glared at him, but he seemed oblivious as he carried her back to the tree where they had started. Upon realizing she wouldn't be getting down anytime soon, Lucy looked up at the dark night sky, and was suddenly intrigued. Silver lights dotted around, some bigger than others, but all of them popped out against the black background.
"What are those called…" Lucy said absentmindedly, pointing her finger towards the sky. Natsu's eyes followed suit, and when he saw what she was talking about, he smiled.
"Pretty, huh?" Natsu said with a grin. Lucy nodded, still mesmerized by the twinkling lights. "Very…" She murmured. Natsu couldn't keep his eyes off of her at that moment, she seemed so happy, so amazed.
She could feel his eyes on him though, and after much convincing to her brain, snapped herself out of that trance. Lucy looked at him, who was staring at her like she stared at the lights. She raised an eyebrow at him, and his grin grew as he continued walking.
"Alright, I'll hide this time, okay?" Natsu said after putting her down, "I've been playing this game all of my life though, so good luck." Lucy smiled and covered her eyes.
"One…."
"Two…."
Somewhere around 10, Lucy peeked behind her fingers, and it was as if he had vanished without a trace. She recovered her eyes and continued counting, grinning the entire time.
"Ready or not, here I come!"

Lucy lay in her own bed as the sun was just starting to rise. It may have been early, but she was wide awake, and smiling nonetheless. She snuggled in closer to her blankets and closed her eyes, trying to get some sleep before she had to get up. But none came, only pictures of Natsu grinning after she had found him, yelling out to her,
"Catch me if you can!"
and they ran, around and around until Lucy collapsed, Natsu falling soon after. And they watched the… Stars. Yes, that is what Natsu called them. Stars. They gazed at them for what Lucy had wished had been forever. But she had to leave, he had to leave. The only thing that stayed was the promise that they would see each other again, the promise Lucy was looking forward to fulfilling. Never, for as long as she had lived, had ever felt so happy.
And then reality hit her.
Natsu wasn't any ol' buddy she could be chummy with for the rest of her life. No, he was a demon, flesh and blood, and she couldn't be with him. She shouldn't have even spoken with him after the whole 'prophecy' ordeal, and if they hadn't spent that night together, she would've been okay with that.
Now her stupid grin was gone, and she was suddenly torn and heartbroken.
