Sorry for such a long wait. I've been in severe block. I've started to dislike this series for the rushed villain part, how much of it is a little pointless, how there are basically only 3 characters, and the lack of growth. This is my first story, but writing it has improved my skill imensely.
I don't own Zelda.
Erect he stood against the howling winds, raising his arms as if to defy the sky. Surrounded by blood that good and evil had shed, he wondered if there would be anything left to rule after he came to power.
Good and evil, He thought, as he stared at the Hero of time. Was it really that black and white? For thousands of years the land of Hyrule had denounced monsters as evil, long after surrounding countries had made attempts to cope with beastkin. Long had the Hylian race been that of Luddites and ignorants, never caring about anything less than a mile away, and adapting poorly to change. No wonder whyit was so easy for extremists to rise to power. The hooded man allowed himself a moment of pity for the young man caught up in the affairs of nobles before summoning the hammer of the princess he had killed...
Link raised his shield weakly, but a surviving Hyrule soldier charged in and slashed at the burly figure. His sword felt hot and heavy, and he arised shakily. So the fatass had tricked him again! With a quick glance he saw a leaking bag of sand, and realised the man had mimiced his duplicate made entirely of sand, and gambled Link would see him as nothing but a dummy.
"Wait, get out of there!" He shouted at the soldier. It was to late as the soldier received a blow to his knees and stumbled into a crater. The rage that had been built up in The Triforce bearer was let out. He had been enraged ever since the return to the surface, but it was as if the soldiers death had struck a match.
Link swung his sword harder than ever before, not caring if he strained himself or not. The monster of a man matched his strike with the butt of the hammer, and thrusted the long shaft at Link. The Hero of time spun 360 around in order to knock the shaft out of the way and simoultaneously strike the man on the shoulder.
The Man fell back, sand and blood falling out of a gash in his robes. At that moment Zelda appeared on the badly damaged roof of the building nearby. A blast of demonic air parted the two, howling from the hooded ones hands. Around the two triforce bearers- no, THREE triforce bearers Link corrected himself-, the remaining shops and buildings were ripped to shreds. The corpse of the Dead hand began twitching and convulsing.
As soon as the wind had died down, an eerie calm settled on the remains of Hyrule castle town. Zelda leapt down to join Link, her red and purple dress ripped at the frays. Link also noticed something he had never seen in his mistress before; a hopless, sombre gaze.
"Link..." She began. "We can't defeat him, we need the seven sages." The Hero of time stared at the hooded one, not taking his eyes off him. "As long as he holds the triforce of power, we can only banish him."
"Well then, let's just bind him now and kill him later."
"But Link-"
"We have to try!" Link leapt out of the way as the man used magic to corrode the ground beneath them. He fired his sword beam at the foe, blasting a hole in the wall behind and catching the hooded one on the arm.
There was no responce from the fat one, he merely fell backwards. Link watched Zelda draw her light arrows, the weapon that could banish evil.
A light gust of air was his only warning of impending death approaching. Link rolled out of the way, and heard a large crash bounce off the walls of an already demolished building. "You will never be able to even banish me, when I have absorbed the body of the triforce holder's daughter." And with a blast of compressed air, he knocked Zelda off her feet. She hit the ground with a thud. The princess recovered quickly, and retaliated with an arrow of light. Link watched as it stuck fast in the body of the man, went right through, and stuck into the body of the Dead hand, which slowly began to disintegrate.
After a howl of pain and anger, silence filled the small clearing created by combat. Then, slowly, the hooded one began to laugh. "HA HA HA HA HAHA HAA!" He exclaimed. "You can't kill me, for the body of the girl and I have been fused, and the triforce lies in my hands." Abruptly, Link sheathed his sword. "Zelda, hold him off for me!"
His liege did not bother asking questions, and drew her rapier. Link ran to her side and drew the bloodied hands of the dead Gerudo. At once, the burly figure realised what he was doing. He charged desperately at Link, double scimitars in hand. Zelda stood between the two, and lashed out, forcing him to stop.
Link prerared the hands of the young women on the flattest surface he could find. It was gristly work, but Link had done and seen a lot, and now was no time to worry about losing his innocence. He spread his arm and drew the master sword across it. Instantly blood spilled, mixed, and steamed across the soppy hands.
The man screamed in agony, and tumbled backwards. Zelda summoned her bow and shot a light arrow, hitting the man in the chest. His eyes lit up paranormally, but Zelda couldn't feel his power weaken one bit, as sand began to swirl around him.
Link seized the man, and pressed him against the last surviving piece of the wall. "Zelda, shoot through me!" The princess of Hyrule stood in shock, so much that she nearly dropped her bow.
"You have to trust me! It's the only way to defeat him!"
"But Link-"
"I'll be ok. Just shoot."
Link couldn't fathom the inner turmoil that beset his princess in the few seconds of silence. In fact, that moment became hazy when Link would retell it later. All he knew was that he just stood there, long after the arrow had shot right through him and transfered his blood into the body of a man who already had his soul connected to another, and who could not bear the essence of a third. The shock alone was enough to nullify the pain as he watched a man shrivel up and die in the early morning sun.
Link woke up in a white bed, looking around to find himself back in Hyrule castle. So he did indeed survive, Link smiled, noting a magically healed wound on his upper abdomen.
Zelda must have done something to monitor is conciousness, or else it was coincidence that she walked in at that moment. Instantly she suck refuge in his arms, and Link lost his feelings of ease when he realised Zelda was trembling.
"L-Link, it's terrible."
"What is it honey?"
"The Hyrule army has left for the desert. They mean to retaliate." And Link felt a hand of cold ice grip his heart.
