AND I STILL SUCK!
I CANNOT UPDATE FAST ENOUGH AT ALL!
I'M SO SORRY!
"Hi guys we're back!" The two children exclaimed as they burst through the doors of the guild.
They ran towards the bar, where a certain blonde-haired celestial mage was speaking with Mirajane. Holding their slips of paper tightly in their hands, they dashed towards the bar excitedly. Kai jumped onto a chair, while Aurea leapt up onto Lucy's back, hugging her neck gently. Laughing, Lucy removed the new-born barnacle off of her back and placed her on the counter, where Kai climbed up beside her.
"Lucy! Lucy! We're back!" Kai exclaimed.
"And we were careful this time!" Aurea added.
"Oh, good for you! SO, did you finish the job?"
"Yup! And we met some other kids too!" Kai replied.
"Oh really? Why don't you tell us about it? Now you've got me curious." Mirajane chuckled at the children's antics.
So that's exactly what the children did. Kai explained most of the story, while Aurea jumped in at certain parts to add to the details. Though, they left out the book of secrets, as none of them wanted to explain what had happened there. It would open up too many questions, especially about Kai's secret, and they both knew he didn't want to talk about any of that. So, they abbreviated that part and only explained about the magical 'tear' that caused the serpent to trust them. During their storytelling, a small crowd consisting of the guild members started to form around the two children, but they were too oblivious to notice. By the end of the story, the whole guild seemed to be sitting in anticipation through the events in the story.
"So, what're you going to do with the money you got?" Happy asked, flying over Aurea's head.
"Oh, yeah, about that…" she trailed off, "Lucy, close your eyes."
"Huh?.. Okay…" Lucy complied.
"Now hold out your hand."
Lucy did so, and the light mage placed the slips of paper she gained into Lucy's outstretched palm happily. At Aurea's request, Lucy then opened her eyes and looked at the slips of paper that lied in her hands. At first, no words came, as her, and Kai's for a matter-of-fact, widened. Aurea just smiled, this was her plan all along. She really had no use for money on her own, but ever since they had first seen Lucy's apartment, she had wanted to help and repay her for her kindness. Kai was shocked, he hadn't expected this as her 'surprise', he really had no idea what to expect. Lucy's face then brightened, and she hugged the kind light mage happily. Giving her appreciation as Aurea giggled in her arms. Kai watched the scene, and pulled the slips of paper he had gained out of his pocket. It was the other half of the reward, and with his and Aurea's combined, it would pay for a whole month of rent for Lucy. He had to admit, he hadn't thought of giving his money away, maybe saving it up for something in the future. But now, looking at this happy moment, he unfolded the money he received, and placed a happy smile on his face.
"Here Lucy! You can have the other half too!" Kai exclaimed, handing her his own reward.
"Oh, no, you two, I can't accept this! This is your reward!" Lucy replied.
"But we chose to give it to you!" the two children said in complete sync.
"Now you don't have to pay the next month's rent!" Aurea exclaimed.
Lucy then smiled widely, and pulled Kai into her arms beside Aurea. Soon enough, they were all laughing and having what seemed to be the time of their lives. For some reason, the two children didn't want to be alone, and Kai put a finger to his lips before working a small bit of his magic. Vines started to grow out of the ground, and before anyone could question them, they pulled every guild member closer to the trio.
"GROUP HUG!" Aurea yelled out happily, causing a chorus of laughter to erupt from the hug.
Now, the whole guild was happily playing around with Aurea and Kai. They played Freeze Tag with Team Natsu, which ended up with Gray actually freezing Natsu's foot, which then, of course, led to a huge fight between them. Luckily, Aurea and Erza stopped them before any of the guild could be permanently damaged. Aurea had a flying race with the exceeds, which she won, but she knew that they let her. Kai played around with his magic, Elfman and a few other guild members playing around with the plants, which somehow turned into an all-out brawl/tickle fight. Aurea even got Cana to let her try some of that stuff she was always drinking (but she actually gave her grape juice.) It was a lively time in the guild, but eventually night had settled and stars shown above in the darkened sky. Lucy told the children it was time to leave, which resulted in both of them exclaiming they weren't tired, but they still left with a loud 'Farwell' from the guild.
At Lucy's apartment Kai and Lucy quickly fell asleep in their usual areas, but one little girl stayed awake and sat at the window. She wasn't lying, she wasn't tired at all. She gazed up at the sky, and easily pointed out the constellations with their celestial names, soon she was naming the ones that couldn't even be seen in the sky she was witnessing. As each name rolled off of her tongue, a pang of familiarity came with each one as she envisioned a bright pink sky from above the clouds.
"Aquarius, Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Sagittarius, Aries, Scorpio, Gemini, Capricorn, Pisces, Libra, Crux, Horologium, Lyre, Nikora, Caelum, Pyxis, Polaris, Deneb,… Leo." she named every celestial being she could think of.
She had no idea how she knew all of these names, but each one seemed to comfort her. She was a bit confused on what that serpent was telling her. She was told to 'stay pure', even though that was something even a normal person would tell a child, it seemed to hold a different meaning inside herself. Not wanting to mull over that subject for any longer, she directed her attention back towards the celestial beings.
"Hey, I wonder…when do you guys all sleep?" she asked the stars, "I mean, your constellations come out during the night, but you can show up almost any time during the day with no sweat, and you've shown up at night a few times too. I don't know why, but I know you have." she stated.
The stars seemed to brighten and dim a bit, as if they were laughing, and Aurea smiled at them. She could've sat there for much longer, but a golden-like mist seemed to drift from the stars and it surrounded the small girl. A small tune played in Aurea's head, but no music was actually playing. The lullaby was familiar, as the celestial names were, and she hummed along with it.
"Just close your eyes, the sun is going down,
You'll be alright, no one can hurt you now,
Come morning light,
You and I'll be safe and,
Sound." the song hummed, as Aurea's glimmering eyes clouded over and her eyelids drooped.
"Goodnight…" she muttered drifting into bliss, "my…family…"
