...

The hotel room was a two bedroom, with a sitting room separating the two, it was modern with a flat screen television set in the wall that were painted a peach colour.

Scott pouted as he sat on the couch, arms crossed and his wet fair hair sticking to his flushed face "I want Daddy" he muttered to Skylar who was looking through the bag they had picked up from Rachel.

"Trust me Scott, I wished we were with Ben as much as you" The 15-year-old pulled pepper spray from the bag "Terry and Jay taught you how to use this stuff right?"

Nodding Scott added "Snake said I should only use it if I'm in trouble"

Skylar smirked handing the bottle to the 7-year-old "right" she agreed "get your coat on we needa head to a different hotel" Scott didn't budge "please Scott, when we get to the next place you can sleep for as long as you want"

Weighing his options Scott finally padded across the carpeted floor to the bedroom he had used and grabbed his coat, hat and bag "can I talk to Daddy when we get out of here?"

"Okay" Skylar sighed "I'll call Steve to see if he thinks it would be a good idea.

...

Carlos stared out the window of the safe house he and the twins had decided to camp in, he could hear the two older boys fighting in low voices from the other room, the clouds were getting darker and the wind was picking up.

But Carlos' thoughts were on his brothers in the other room, they hadn't taken Alex being an agent the way he would have suspected and honestly he was having trouble dealing with it himself. His brother had been manipulated into working for a government he wanted nothing to do with.

It reminded him of his own situation years ago, even if the people doing the manipulating were totally different, they had both succeeded in doing wrong.

"It's possible Jay!" Terry exploded giving his brother a death glare "just think about it will you?!"

"He wouldn't lie to us like that!" Jay disagreed with a snarl.

The two teenagers were in a battle of wills, hazel eye's flaring and their handsome features pulled into frowns.

"Right now Terry we need to focus on protecting each other, not fighting with each other" Jay buried his face in his hands a yawn escaping his chapped lips.

Terry collapsed on the bed beside his brother "we don't even know who's after us Jay, we have no idea what we're up against and I'm...worried"

"Join the club" Carlos tried to joke appearing in the doorway "but nobody's going to get us out of this if we keep moping about and arguing with each other, we all need to pull together and find out what the hell is going on, and like Alex said to me, we'll get through this together"

"So much for a relaxing weekend" Jay smirked.

...

"We can't stay here for much longer" Alex sipped on his coffee.

The café the three boys had headed to for lunch was compact but cosy, with glass windows lining one wall and allowing you to gaze over the streets of London, the dim lights and strong smell of beverages had a calming effect on the nerves.

Steve nodded while chewing on his sandwich "we should really head somewhere public and call Dad before moving on to the next location, we should meet up with the others in a few days if we're lucky"

Tom smirked as he leant back in the chair his blue hoodie and denim jeans causing him to look like every other teenage boy who passed, his hair had got shorter since Alex had last seen him and it was more styled.

Alex too wore a pair of ripped up jeans and the jacket he had found in the emergency bag from Rachel, Steve wearing a coat and jeans with both Alex and he wearing caps to hide their faces from view.

"Ben's prepared for anything isn't he?" Tom joked but the smile was strained.

Steve shrugged carelessly "he's just protective of us" he tried to justify the actions.

Alex watched as people mulled in and out of the café, his mind trying to pick out threats without being ordered to do such a thing but it wasn't the people in the shop that caught his eye, it was three men who were mindlessly walking about the streets.

Leaning forward and forgetting about his coffee Alex focused solely on the men "Steve do you have your laptop?"

Steve made a face at being interrupted but nodded patting the bag on his knee "in case Sky or the twins need us, why?"

"You think it's them?" Tom whispered obviously having spotted the men the same way Alex had.

Alex bit his tongue the same thought running in his mind "Yes" he breathed when one of the men on the other side of the street turned and caught his eyes before raising his finger to an ear piece "They've been tracking our laptop signal!" he hissed already out of the chair.

Steve dropped the laptop on the chair and grabbed his bag before following Alex.

"Out the back" Tom advised rushing ahead of Alex, all three ignoring the yells as they barged through.

"Alex we need to warn the others, if they've found us then they've found them!" Steve yelled as they broke into the back alley.

Knowing he was right but not knowing what to do Alex pulled Steve along as they started to run down the street avoiding traffic "I have a feeling that they already know, are best shot is to contact Rachel"

"Head to the park there's a short cut I found a while back!" Tom sprinted beside the two.

...

"Jay! Carlos!" Terry stood from the porch he sat on as he spotted a black van and jeep approach the drive way of the safe house.

"Yea?" Jay followed his brothers gaze "into the car" he pushed Terry towards the stolen car that belonged to Eagle "Carlos in the car now!" he didn't wait for the younger before jumping into the passenger's seat.

The sound of a door signalled Carlos jumping in "seatbelts!" he scolded the twins who couldn't help but roll their eyes before doing just that.

"Hit it Terry" Jay pulled out his phone and hit the only number available.

"Brace yourself mate" Terry gave Carlos a reassuring smile before tearing towards the incoming vehicle.

Carlos closed his eyes as the speed of the car threw him against the back of the seat "You're crazy!" he growled in Spanish.

"Rachel" Jay breathed when the woman picked up.

"Status report Jayden" The woman's voice was crisp and straight to the point, nothing like Jay had heard before.

Terry chuckled as the van swerved onto the grass to stop from colliding with them, the jeep following suit but having no problem swerving around and following at top speed.

"We're leaving safe house 6, we've been compromised!" he took a sharp intake of breath as the jeep behind rammed the back of the car "a jeep and a van, Rachel I don't think we'll be able to out run them"

The sounds of muttering could be heard "Jay, listen, I'm sending someone to your position now just keep the phone on and don't worry, try to get onto a main road and there'll be less chance of them hitting you off the road"

"Terry!" Carlos screamed as the jeep sped up and once again rammed the car.

This time the three teenagers weren't as lucky.

Terry lost control of the steering and the car hit the curb before flipping down the ditch. The metal denting and the screams of the teenagers in the car punctured the air before the sound of smashing glass and screeching metal cut of all human sound.

The car rolled twice before the right side smashed into the tree, the metal bending to fit like a jigsaw puzzle.

The black locks sticking to tanned skin because of the blood leaking from a gash on the 13-year-olds head made the shallow rise and fall of his battered chest all the more important as he hung limply, the seatbelt the only thing holding him in place. The liquid leaking through the blue jacket was near invisible in the crumpled space.

In the passenger's seat a pool of blood was forming as the teenagers head rested against the spider web of cracks made in the window, his legs pinned tight from the shattered front of the car and the roof caved around him. Eyes moving frantically under closed lids.

The blood flowing freely from the driver's nose and the trickle of blood staining his mouth dripped from the crocked steering wheel his head settled against. The crushed door hid the shredded right arm of its victim in its clutches. The pale skin highlighting each cut the specs of glass had left.

"Jayden, Jay, you pick up now mister...Jay please...!"

[I was going to end it here but I thought you all deserved more]

...

Scott held the palm of his hands to his ears as he huddled in the darkness of the cupboard.

"Scott, hide now!" Skylar whispered urgently.

The splintering of wood had him biting his tongue to keep from crying out in surprise.

"You stay in here until you think it's safe and you can't hear anything okay?"

"Where is he?!" the sound of flesh being hit sent tears trailing down his cheeks, the scream following feeling like the punch had hit him "tell me you little brat!"

"I knew you were coming and sent him ahead" the choked voice of Skylar travelled through the door of the cupboard she had hidden him in moments ago.

"What will I do?"

"Phone Rachel and tell her you need somebody to come get you" Skylar smirked sadly "can you do that?"

There was a silence before the sound of something connecting with flesh echoed through the hotel room and a thud of someone hitting the ground followed "do you think the brat was telling the truth?"

"Yea" another voice answered with a grunt "there's no way the other kid would let her take a hit like that without reacting, we need to get her out of here before someone comes looking" the creaking of the floor signalled the man bending down to lift the teenage girl.

"Promise me something?" Scott nodded "you'll stay in here"

"I promise"

Skylar closed her eyes briefly "I love you Scotty" and she closed the door leaving Scott in a shocked silence because she had never said that, she had always kept her distance, had never tried to connect with him and he had always believed she hated him.

"I love you to Sky" the 7-year-old whispered to the empty room.

...

They had nearly reached the park when the black van pulled up in front of them, blocking the path, and two men jumped out with their guns aimed.

"Go!" Alex shoved Steve towards Tom who grabbed the hand of the younger and pulled him across the road not expecting the car to collide with them while trying to come to a screeching halt.

Alex watched in horror as the two boys slid over the bonnet of the silver car before hitting the ground with a thump.

Putting all his training into punching and fending off the two muscled men in front of him Alex twisted and turned to avoid them but one of the men quickly fired towards a passerby sending all the civilians diving to the ground and giving them enough time to grab Alex in his hesitation.

"Calm down boy"

Alex tensed at the words mumbled in his ear as a hand wrapped around his mouth and nose while the other held down his arms.

Head buzzing and black spots appearing in his vision Alex was briefly aware of Tom pulling Steve to his feet and making eye contact before disappearing.

Knowing he had provided the distraction needed for the other two boys to escape Alex let the darkness at the lack of oxygen take over and he fell limp. He wasn't aware of hitting the cold hard ground of the van as it took off into the streets of London.

...

Rachel rested her face in the sweaty palms of her hands as the words all three boys had spoken to her ran over in her head like a broken record.

Steve had lost Alex.

Scott had lost Skylar.

Terry, Jay and Carlos unaccounted for, but she wasn't stupid, she had heard the shattering of glass and metal.

"Rachel?"

Glancing up and setting the glasses back on her nose Rachel tried to give a smile to the tanned teen standing in the doorway a frown pulling at his innocent features "Hey Marty" her voice was weak and she dropped the attempt of a smile.

Marty shifted glancing over his shoulder at the three other teenagers gazing at him with worry "something's happened" he stated "Skylar?"

Rachel covered her mouth to stop the sob that wanted to break free at thinking about the girl she had failed to protect "I'm so sorry Marty"

"Tell us?" he begged his green eyes flashing with agony.

"Hey Marty" Mr Sanders who had appeared in the doorway set his hand on Marty's shoulder "Rachel, I'm here to take them to a safe house"

"Safe house?" Kylie asked slowly, her eye's wide.

Rachel stood to meet the man "of course Mike, I assume Ben got the messages?"

"A unit is heading to each known location now" Mr Sanders gave a grim shake of the head "if they're there we'll find them" he assured "I'm going to need you guys to follow me" he spoke to the four teenagers.

Cody, Kylie, Rich and Marty all shared looks of understanding before giving a curt nod.
