In their youth, Alexa and Viola didn't always have the chance to spend time together. The elder sister lived with their father in Lumiose City, while the younger lived with their mother in Santalune City. And with both parents in the middle of a violent divorce, chances for the girls to meet were few. Which was why they cherished those short weekends they had together.
Spending long nights under the bed sheets with their pokémon partners, their three year age gap never seemed to matter (Unless Alexa decided to play the role of the teasing older sister, or if she wanted to use her age to her advantage against Viola. Because even she could be cruel and bossy at times). What they could do depended on where they were; in Lumiose City, they'd run through the streets, cameras in hand, playing the roles of the reporter hunting for a story or a photographer searching for a subject. And in Santalune, they would run free through the much smaller, more open city, even drifting onto Route 4 and into the hedge mazes while Alexa's Noibat flew over their heads and Viola's Spewpa perched on her shoulder. And they would sit at sunset and talk about whatever topic came to mind.
"Hey," Viola said one evening, watching as her beloved Spewpa ran around after Noibat, who remained high in the air above the Bug pokémon's head, "d'you think that maybe Spewpa could fly one day? Like Noibat?" Alexa looked down at her sister sitting on the grass, then to their pokémon before she sat down beside the girl.
"I should think so. Most Bug-types gain wings when they evolve. And Spewpa's only in its second stage," she said matter-of-factly. This earned her a pout of annoyance from her sister, however rather than respond, Viola then said, "What about us? We could fly, with our pokémon. Right over Kalos!" She jumped to her feet and spun around, her arms outstretched like plane wings. Alexa smiled.
"Maybe." Pursing her lips, she thought about it, then smiled again, saying, "That'd be pretty cool actually." Viola then lowered her arms again, though remained standing as she echoed her sisters words, "Yeah, it'd be pretty cool." The two sisters fell quiet, continuing to watch as the pokémon played. Then Viola piped up, "Mom said I'll be needing braces. That's what the dentist said last time I went." This made Alexa snigger as she stood and snarked, lifting Viola's lip to gawk at her crooked teeth, "I can see why."
Viola batted away Alexa's arm with an annoyed yell of, "Shut up! They're not that bad!" Alexa laughed. "Not that bad? If you're 10 years old and needing braces, then it must be bad." Then she smirked.
"What, are you scared people will start calling you 'tin teeth' or something?" she asked. Viola looked down, cheeks turning pink, though the sunset managed to hide this from her sister. Alexa did however manage to see how upset the younger blonde was. Teasing aside, she put an arm around her sister and said in a comforting, "Hey hey, it won't be the end of the world if you need a couple of train tracks to straighten out your teeth for a few years. Though it should be a warning that you should lay off the Sweet Hearts for a while." As Viola looked up, wearing a small smile, Alexa then added, "Besides, I'll make sure nobody goes around calling you tin teeth, unless its me." She finished with a large, toothy grin, with made Viola pout again.
"You're hopeless!" the girl yelled, running off toward the house where their mother had just opened the door, ready to call them in. Alexa watched her run off, then sighed.
"Maybe I shouldn't have said that," she muttered. Hearing her mother call her name, she called for Noibat and Spewpa to return themselves, and the three made their way to the house.
I wanted to do something showing Alexa and Viola being siblings as well as maybe build in a bit more of the personal story canon I want to work on. Because while I am keeping this as close to GameFreak canon as I can (I.e. mainly the games with a dash of anime and manga in there too), I wouldn't mind building my own canon as well, like personalities and backstories, as you've seen in previous drabbles.
This was a really quick thing I did, but I hope youse liked it nonetheless.
It reminds me that I need to do more drabbles showing Alexa and Viola being siblings, cause they're sisters, they can do cutesy things as well, goddammit!
