AN: Welcome back! Now Chapter 21! Amata Alone

Even as the pod fell free and the greyish blue sky replaced the view she had of the Lone Wanderer, Amata continued to bang against the pod door in vain. The feeling of being weightless only compounded her feelings of helplessness as the escape pod fell through the air. A red light blipped on signaling her to prepare for the landing. She begrudgingly obliged strapping herself to the single chair inside the pod but her thoughts quickly returned to the Lone Wanderer and his actions.

'That asshole! I can't believe him! He better not die because I'm going to kill him!' she fumed but her thoughts were interrupted as the pod violently touched down causing her world to shake. The pod slide several more feet cutting into the earth before coming to rest. As if on cue the pod's door blew off exposing Amata to the cold air of the Capital Wasteland.

'Oh now it wants to open' she thought as she unstrapped herself and climbed out. Looking at her surroundings a sense of loneliness came over her as only dirt and rock greeted her. She checked her Pip-boy and let out a low moan, she had hoped that her pod landed close to Greyditch but according to the map she was near the outskirts of a small settlement named Andale.

"Let's just hope it's not full of Raiders." She said to no one as she started to head there. The sun was just beginning to peak through the clouds when Amata arrive, she looked around and the town seemed to be devoid of life.

"You shouldn't be here."

The voice was so sudden it nearly made Amata jump out of her skin, she turned to face the individual spoke to her. It was an old man with gray hair and a lot of wrinkles and liver spots.

'He looks like he could be my grandfather's father!' Amata thought doing her best to stifle a smile at the thought, but it seemed the old man saw through it.

"Listen! You need to leave! It's not safe here!" he whispered in hushed tones.

"Well it doesn't look that bad, I mean besides the ruined buildings, but as far as-" Amata was cut off as the old man let out a tiresome groan.

"Don't tell me. You have no idea what kind of place Andale is." The old man grumbled.

"It's the best town in Virginia!" A man chimed in. Amata was a bit unnerved at the fact that he was the second person in town that was able to approach her without her knowing.

"I should know! Won the title 'Best Town' 4 years straight!" he finished as he walked over.

"Now Jack, this young lady was just going on her merry way. Right?" he said giving Amata a questionable look.

"Oh nonsense dad she's just in time for breakfast! But I forget my manners, I'm Jack Smith and this is my old man Harris Smith. My family and the Wilsons would love to have you for breakfast." Jack said invitingly.

"Well I shouldn't, I'm in a bit of a hurry." Amata began to decline but her stomach began to protest.

'Well it has been a while since I ate.' She thought slightly embarrassed.

"Seems to me that you're hungry, no worries my wife will have you stuffed in no time." Jack smiled.

"I see no harm in that." Amata said agreeing. Old man Harris simply shook his head and muttered something about not eating the meat before waddling off to his home, leaving Amata alone with Jack.

"Did you catch what he was saying?" Amata asked Jack as they walked to his home.

"Oh he's just senile, comes with the age." He said dismissively.

The inside of the home looked much like the outside; a bit run down but with some attempt at cleaning the place up and make it look comfortable.

"Honey we have a guest of honor!" he called into the kitchen.

"Really! This early in the day?" a young blond wearing a pink pre-war dress said as she stepped out of the kitchen. When she saw Amata she turned her head slightly as if she was studying her.

"She's a bit on the scrawny side." She commented.

"Oh I'm sure you can bake her into some meat pies." Jack smiled as he kissed his wife.

'Wait, did he just say into some meat pies?' Amata thought but before she could pursue that line of thought there was a knock at the door. Jack opened the door and let in who Amata guessed had to be the Wilsons.

"Ah who do we have here?" the man wearing an orange pre-war sweater vest with gray pants.

"This is our guest of honor for breakfast, walked right into town not too long ago. Oh where are my manners this is my lovely wife Linda, my friend and neighbor Will, his wife Martha, and his daughter Jenny." He said introducing Amata to them.

"She's a bit thin in the waist isn't she Jack?" Will asked. Amata couldn't help but feel everyone's eyes hungrily digging into her skin.

"Well it will take some time to prepare her so I fixed up some appetizers." Linda said retrieving a pre-war serving tray, what sat on top of it didn't looked appealing but then again most edible things in the Capitol Wasteland were not pleasing to the eye. Amata felt like she recognized what it was but couldn't place her finger on it.

"It looks lovely Linda." Will complimented.

"And I'm sure it taste just as good." Jack added.

"…What is it?" Amata asked a bit off put.

"It's Raider Fillets." Linda answered.

"Oh I get it! Because it… looks like… a raider's …head?" Amata trailed off as the sudden realization of what she was looking at hit her. An overwhelming sense of revolt washed over her like a tidal wave and Amata no longer had to worry about her hunger.

"Look daddy I think she's turning green." Young Jenny noted.

"You aren't sick are you?" Jack asked a bit concerned.

"I think… no I know I'm going to be sick." Amata answered fighting back her gag reflexes.

"What's wrong? Never had raider before?" Will asked mockingly.

"I never had HUMAN before!" Amata blurted out.

"Well that would explain the scrawny waist." Linda concluded.

"All of you are c-ca-" Amata started.

"Carnivores?" Jack said attempting to finish her statement.

"Cannibals!" Amata yelled.

"Cannibals is such a negative term." Will stated.

"Please refrain from using the 'C-word' it ruins the atmosphere around here." Linda caution.

'What the hell are you still doing here? Get out! GET THE HELL OUT!' Amata's mind screamed at her.

"You were going to… me?" Amata stumbled over her words as she pieced everything together to which her present company shook their head yes to it all. There was a brief pause as Amata finally concluded all wondering who would make the first move. To which Amata quickly took, she bolted for the door and was already outside before anyone knew it. When the Smiths and Wilsons had reached the door Amata was already well on her way out of town, she didn't care which direction she ran just as long as it was a way from this place. On her way out she spotted old man Harris waving goodbye.

"Thanks for visiting Andale!" he crackled as his laughter split the wrinkles on his face.

"Fuck you old man!" Amata yelled back as she continued running it to the Wasteland.

"…Well I have to say that is the fastest I've ever seen breakfast run." Will stated.

"You know, something about her reminded me of someone who came here a while back, I wonder whatever happened to him?" Jack mused.
