Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter, sorry to disappoint.

Sunday rolled around agonisingly slowly around James. Even Sirius went into the library to avoid his worry. After lunch there was no more reason to avoid James. The results were posted. James wasn't on the team. But he was a reserve.
"But it's not the same!" he told us again and again.
"But you still practise with them." Remus said.
"And if anyone can't play, you get to." Sirius said.
"And what makes you think that someone isn't going to be able to play?"
"This is Hogwarts." I told him. "There's always someone in the hospital wing."
"Are you saying what I think you're saying?" Sirius asked with a grin.
"That depends." I smiled. "What am I saying?"
"I can't do that to another team member." James said, staring gloomily at his pie.
"Well that can't stop you from practising." Remus said. James raised his glare from his pie to Remus, then back down again.
"Doesn't mean that I'll enjoy it."
"Well it could be worse." Sirius said happily after dinner.
"How's that?" James asked, attacking his treacle tart with a one track mind.
"You could have not made it as a reserve."
James went quiet for a moment before he mumbled, "I guess."
Over the next few weeks James went to all the practises and we went and watched him. Sirius yelling not-so-helpful comments and Remus doing homework. I was just watching them play. The captain had asked me one night to just watch. Watch who comes to watch us. Watch the training, what was and wasn't working.
Gryffindor had the first game against Hufflepuff on Saturday. The Thursday before the game a sixth year chaser was in a potions accident. James spent all of his free time training with the other chasers to get ready for the game. On Saturday we sat with him tried to encourage him to eat.
"I don't want to eat!' He complained, pushing toast away. Sirius nearly fell off the bench in shock. "I don't want to play chaser!"
"You're still playing Quidditch." Remus pointed out.
"But I'm not going to enjoy it."
"Say that again when you're on your broom flying around." I said. There was a small smile on his face which faded as the team passed and the Capitan dragged him up.
"Time to go."
"Good luck!" Sirius, Remus and I called in sync.
"Thanks." He whispered as he walked away with the rest of the team.
"Now that Mr. Sick is gone we can finally eat." Sirius said happily, rubbing his hands together.
"We don't have long though." Remus reminded him.
"Let's see how much we can eat in five minutes then." I said to Sirius, reaching for the pancakes.
"You're on." He reached for the toast stack and we started to eat.
Remus used the Daily Prophet to avoid looking at us eating.
"It wasn't that bad!" Sirius complained as we climbed the stairs to watch the game.
"You had that many different kinds of food in your mouth it would have been a feast in poor countries!"
"But it tastes better that way."
"To each their own." Remus muttered, sitting down and pulling out binoculars
"The game hasn't started yet." I said.
"But it will soon and I want to be ready."
"And here they come! In the Gryffindor team: Potter..." I stopped hearing what was being said with the cheering. There was silence among the Gryffindor's when the Hufflepuff team was announced. It was eerie.
I watched as the captains shook hands and mounted their brooms. Then Madam Hooch blew her whistle and threw up the quaffle.
"And they're off!" And that was the last that I heard from the commentator for the rest of the game. I didn't like the commentator. I always felt that if people didn't know what was going on then their friends could tell them or they could go back to their books.
James flew in formation with the other chasers, keeping very focused. So focused that he didn't see the bludger coming for him. Luckily a beater and the guy next to him did, or he would have had a headache and a long fall.
It was hard to ignore the cheers when we scored.
James flew really well. When James finally manages to score Remus, Sirius and I don't stop screaming for two minutes.
After his third goal I knew we were all going to end up with sore voices .
The whole crowd changed suddenly. Without looking I knew that the seekers were chasing the snitch. I kept my eyes on the Gryffindor chasers, who were still passing the quaffle around the way they practised. They scored three more goals, sending the Hufflepuff supporters wild cheering their seeker on. I flicked my eyes to the seekers to see our seeker with his outstreached arm pull out of his dive with his arm high in the air.
I opened my ears to the commentator to hear him announce the winner.
"Gryffindor wins! 270 to 90!" Everything after that was lost. We made our way onto the grounds and carried the players to the changing rooms.
Remus, Sirius and I waited for James to come out. When Lily, Scarlet and Citrus passed us Sirius had a little request.
"Don't you girls want to wait and enter the Common room with one of the stars of the quidditch team?"
"No thanks." Lily replied. "But if you need help getting there we'll be sure to laugh at you if we see you wandering around."
Scarlet laughed at her joke and Citrus smiled and they kept walking.
A/N: It has been nearly a month since I last updated and I do believe that this story is now a year old. You will be pleased to know that I have started writing again and I think that I will be updating every two weeks. This way it will take longer to run into the problem I had last time. I ran out of material/ time to write/ interest for this story. On the bright side, up to chapter 30 is finished. That's the next 9 updates (18 weeks) sorted. which should take us to 2014. It doesn't seem that close does it. I'm rambling, good job if you read that.
Encouragement may prompt earlier updates ;)
