Author's Note

I can't believe Christmas is almost here! It just felt like yesterday that school started. Time is going by really quick. I can't wait for New Years, thank you everyone for reading!

Disclaimer: I do not own Inuyasha, but I do own Makoto and Kisara.

"Oh don't cry sweetheart, shh…mommy is here," Kagome tried to calm her daughter down.

Ever since Inuyasha left to train Makoto, Kisara has been crying nonstop, Kagome was worried about her daughter, if she didn't stop crying, she wouldn't know what to do.

"There there," Kagome said, rocking Kisara slowly. Sniffles came from the baby Inu-Hanyou in her arms. "That's a good girl, don't worry now, papa and your onii-chan will be coming soon. Just you wait."

The priestess smiled when her daughter's blue eyes closed slowly, drifting off to sleep and comfortable in her arms. Kagome looked out the window.

"I hope they are doing alright," she whispered.

Makoto rubbed his nose, it wasn't the first time in doing so - matter of fact it was his fifth time- running into a tree that is.

Myoga the flea almost let out a chuckle of amusement, memories flooding into his mind when his lord had done the same. His action caused him to be flicked off his lord's shoulder.

"It ain't easy, I know that," Inuyasha said, kneeling down and placing a hand on his son's head, rubbing it affectionately. Only times when he was alone with his son or with Kagome around, including Myoga, he could show his affection, not in front of the other. He'd know that Miroku would tease him about it and the runt as well.

"It hurts," Makoto whined, still rubbing his aching nose with a frown on his face. He was upset that he didn't get it right, chasing the rabbit and capturing it, but the animal was clever and made a sharp turn to the right. Causing him to clash into a tree face first.

White dog ears twitched at the rustling sounds, his prey was hiding in the bushes and he was going to get it right.

Makoto took in account, the information that his father gave him, following the rules to successfully catch his prey.

Inuyasha watched him carefully, the young pup wasn't using his nose until he came face to face with his 'prey', he should warn the kit to be more careful when he'd train his son.

Then again, he forgot to mention any training to the kit and the moment would make a good laugh, and it did.

The only thing Shippo saw, before the wind was knocked out of him, was small claws outstretched in front of his face and then tackling him the ground.

"Ooof," was the sound both boys had let out when they fell. Makoto blinked in surprise,"Shippo-nii-chan?"

"Hai…" Shippo groaned, slowly pushing Makoto so that he could sit up. "You could've warned me," the kit had said, not looking his adopted father's direction, but Inuyasha knew that Shippo was talking to him.

"Hm- Nope, I don't think I would've if I could've," Inuyasha retorted, grinning at the shocked expression the kit had. "What are ya doing the bushes runt?" Inuyasha asked him.

Shippo semi glared at Inuyasha but he then shook his head and grinned,"Just visiting Makoto and then I'll be seeing Kisara after." The said Inu-Hanyou smiled excitedly and jumped up. Shippo ruffled his little brother's hair once he settled back down after jumping in excitement.

"You want to play?" Makoto asked him. Inuyasha sighed,"You two can play later, Shippo can you go make sure that Kagome and Kisara are alright," he turned to the kitsune who sat up straight. Shippo nodded and then smiled at his little brother,"We'll play later, ja!"

Makoto watched him scamper off and disappear by the trees, he pouted and stared up at his father with a sadden look. "Now that won't work on me pup like it does on your mother. You do want to become strong to protect your sister right?" Inuyasha asked him.

Makoto nodded and got up from his sitting position. "Yes, but I can't catch a stupid rabbit," the young pup looked at his feet, he wore rice straw sandals and he wrinkled his nose.

Inuyasha crouched down and meet his eyes,"You can, it took me a while to get it right." His father looked down at the sandals and inspected them.

"Take em' off, only for a little while though," Inuyasha crossed his arms and stood up,"Your Okaa-san wouldn't like your feet to get so dirty, so don't keep em off for long."

Makoto lifted his feet, curiously looking at them before taking them off and putting them to the side. He gazed up at his father who smiled at him and then his ears twitched to hear soft steps on the grass nearby.

Both Inu-Hanyou's watched as the same rabbit Makoto was chasing had come out from its hiding place. Inuyasha gave his son a curt nod and then Makoto started the chase.

Inuyasha admitted it, his chichi-ue would be proud of him. He may not of had his father teaching him the basic needs, but he'll be there for his son. That's all that mattered.

He could've sworn that he felt a hand on his shoulder, but looking over it, there was no one there.

"Stupid rabbit stay still!" the shouts from his son was heard. Then there was a splash and a few obscenities.

Inuyasha chuckled to himself and went off to look to where his son disappeared to.

"Okaa-san!" Kagome heard, turning around to see Shippo bounding into the hut. "Shippo-chan!" she smiled broadly upon seeing her adopted fox child.

Shippo smiled when he noticed the tiny bundle in his adopted mother's arms. " Is Kisara-chan sleeping?" he asked.

"No, she's just really quiet, she has been crying ever since Makoto left. I hope they come back home soon," she answered, hearing the babble noises her daughter made.

"They are here," Shippo said, his head turned to the shoji door of the hut.

Makoto had a big smile on his face, his father was standing behind him holding the prey he had tried so hard to catch.

"Papa can I go play with Shippo-nii-chan now?" Makoto asked. Inuyasha looked down at his son and nodded.

"But first go change sweety, you'll get sick if you stay in your wet clothing," Kagome told him. Makoto ran off into his room to change out of his red robe of the fire rat into warm clothing.

Inuyasha walked over to his wife and kissed her on the cheek. "So how did he do?" Kagome asked, going over to sit down and fixing the position she was holding Kisara.

"He did good but it took him a few tries to get it right," Inuyasha told her. Kagome nodded and began to rock Kisara to sleep.

Makoto walked into the room and rushed over to his father to give him a hug,"Thank you papa." Then the young Inu-Hanyou rushed out to play with Shippo.

"You did good papa," Kagome said, smiling at her husband. Inuyasha folded his arms and smirked,"I guess I did."

Kagome laughed happily and then thought for a minute,"Wait a second, Makoto wasn't bare foot this morning."
