~ The Obsessive Phase ~
pt. 4
It did not take long for Pauly to finish up the night before and come home. He and Deena sat up and talked for a while before going to bed and Pauly told her that he pretty much had a free day for Saturday.
Deena had plans to start off their evening by making them both dinner but Pauly changed that by saying that they would go out to dinner. Whatever else after that would be Deena's choice.
So tonight, they decided to call the babysitter in for Pauleena so they could have a night out on the Strip.
Now, it is after hours and Pauly and Deena take their last drink before deciding to hang it up. Going to clubs now is almost impossible with Pauly's rep in Vegas. They had tons of girls coming up to them wanting to go home with Pauly and a few guys recognized Deena and tried to do the same. So, it is definitely time to go.
Pauly and Deena stumble out to the parking lot, just Deena really. Pauly still needed to drive them back home. He didn't expect them to head to the club to drink otherwise he would have had a driver for them tonight. It is all good though.
They get in the Navigator and head back to the house to relieve the babysitter.
-At the House-
The babysitter looks at the time and goes to the front window just as Pauly's SUV headlights come up on the house. She goes to gather her things up, so she can be ready when time to leave.
Soon enough, Deena and Pauly come in. As always, Pauly takes care of the babysitter to get the report and to pay her. He pays her a little extra this time for staying late.
"We appreciate everything you've done. You're great Jenna."
Jenna, "No problem. Pauleena is always cool to watch. She's such a good little girl."
Pauly smiles and walks her to the door. Once there, Jenna swivels around like she forgot something.
Jenna "I almost forgot…"
Pauly waits. She continues.
"A friend of yours came by the house this evening."
Pauly, "A friend…? Who?"
He waits to hear whom it is because the only friends who know where he stays to drop by are Biggie and Jerry. Ryan also but he is not in town to visit this weekend.
Jenna responds, "Some guy…"
Well at least it's a guy…but who?
Pauly, "Okay what was his name?"
Jenna, "Oh shoot. I cannot remember, I'm sorry."
Pauly, "Did he say it was Jerry or Michael? Biggie is also what I call him."
Jenna, "None of those names ring a bell. I should have taken a note but anyway, he said he is a friend of yours from back home. I didn't know what else to tell him except that I'm just watching the house, I had no information on how to get in contact with you."
She continues.
"I also never disclosed where you were or confirmed that you live here, or that I was babysitting for Pauleena. I hope that is okay. I just didn't feel comfortable giving out too much information."
Pauly nods, "That's perfect. You did right. I've talked to my friends today and none of 'em said they were comin by. From now on, do exactly what you did. Do not let anyone know I stay here and better yet, call either Deena or myself as soon as someone comes by before opening the door, so we can confirm that it's someone we know."
Pauly continues.
"If we don't answer, you don't answer the door. If it seems suspicious, call the cops. Let them question whoeva it is."
Jenna, "Okay, go it."
Pauly, "I'll put the pieces of the puzzle together and get back to you so this doesn't happen again but it's nothing to worry about."
Pauly was really speaking for his well being. He then says goodnight to Jenna and thanks her again before walking her out to her car. When she leaves, Pauly decides to check the premises. He locks the house up first and takes a look around, bringing his key with him.
Inside Deena closes up her long, silk bedtime chemise before heading to Pauleena's room to check on her one last time. Deena ends up in Pauly's room, moving around doing last minute things before getting on the bed scooting up onto his pillows.
After a while, Pauly comes back in and heads up to his room to get ready for bed. Like Deena, he checks Pauleena and then comes back to his room. When he opens the door, he laughs a little.
"What are you doin?"
The room is lit dimly and there is music playing on Pauly's iPod. Deena smiles and responds lazily.
"I thought we could try listening to music while cuddling and trying to get to sleep, since last time was a fail."
Pauly, "Really…"
Deena, "Yeah."
Deena gets on her knees enough for Pauly to see what she has on, while she scoots off of his side of the bed. Even in the shadows, Pauly can tell just how lit she is.
Pauly, "Dee' you're drunk. I will not take it too good if you puke on my very expensive sheets."
Deena waves him off.
"I'm not a puker, you know that. Besides, this isn't the drunkest I've been. Just come over here."
Pauly, "Alright. Just let me get myself ready for bed."
Deena nods and continues to wait patiently.
Pauly does his routine and comes out with a pair of pajama pants and no shirt. He walks over to where he keeps his jewelry and he takes his chain and everything else off. He fishes for a tank top when Deena speaks up, knowing what he is looking for.
"No shirt."
Pauly looks back at her, "…but I get cold this time of year."
Deena laughs a little, "No shirt…you won't get cold tonight."
Pauly laughs. He knows he is stalling and Deena knows it too. After some more messing around, Deena gets up wasting no more time. She goes over to Pauly and closes the gap.
Deena hops up onto Pauly, using her arms around his neck to anchor herself while she wraps her short legs around his waist. Pauly has no choice but to hold her.
She settles around him and gently fans her hand out on his cheek while kissing his neck now.
Pauly still cannot help but to smile. He is still not completely comfortable with this role he and Deena seem to be in. There is still a tension there but he cannot help but to wonder if that tension will only be broken the more they release it.
So be it…
Pauly carries Deena over to the bed and lays her down. Now he's talking her language.
Deena grabs him up so he doesn't get away. After pecking and kissing, licking, and prodding, Pauly relaxes as his body responds. Before they can get too far with no return, Pauly stops.
"Hang on Dee'…"
Deena opens her bleary eyes.
"What?"
Pauly responds, "I gotta get the rain jacket."
Deena sighs and nods. She waits eagerly, her legs still in position.
Pauly gets off the bed and no sooner than he gets to the drawer, does his phone go off in the room.
Deena, "Are you kidding me…"
Pauly smacks his lips. He has to see who it is before shutting it off.
Of course it is, bingo, her name and number flashing on the screen. So that is a red light for the possibility of his phone remaining on. However, he will not let it be a red light to what he and Deena have started this time.
Pauly immediately turns his phone off and sets it on top of his dresser. He then grabs what he needs and proceeds back to Deena. Deena doesn't want to ask who it is and she could really care less at this point but she still sees a look on Pauly's face that is not quite right. However, if he doesn't mention anything then she won't.
Deena receives Pauly, determined to make him forget whatever is wrong as the remaining light goes out in the room.
Pauly looks over at the time. It is almost five in the morning. He then looks over at Deena who is passed out but resting comfortably. He is glad she is but he cannot rest. Pauly moves himself quietly out of his bed and over to his dresser. He looks at his phone for a second and then turns around to go to his master bathroom.
After taking care of business, he yawns and goes to check on Pauleena. Deena and Pauly are always conscious of their daughter. They find themselves not wanting to leave her alone for a second when one or the other is home, or both. She is their golden child so to speak.
Pauly is at her bedside pulling the sheet up some more over her little arms. He smiles and walks back out. When he gets back to his room he looks at his phone again. After deciphering, he decides to turn it back on. He goes downstairs to do so.
When he turns it on he is alerted that he has voicemail. Pauly checks and finds out that he has eight messages waiting….
After listening to just three of them, he is done. He hangs up and calls the person right away. He waits and then the voice comes on the line.
"Hey stranger. It's a wonder that you know how to use a phone."
Pauly, "What's goin on Angel? Why are you blowin up my phone like you're psycho?"
Angel, "I wouldn't have if you would just pick up. You cut your phone off and I couldn't reach you."
Pauly, "Okay but did you have to leave three thousand voicemails on my phone? If I didn't pick up or call you back right away, it means I can't talk."
Angel pauses, "…Okay, I see…You were probably smashin. My bad, I just hate it when I can't talk to my best friend. So who's the lucky chick this time?"
Pauly keeps things blunt and responds.
"When I need to report my love life to someone it will be to my girl…and the last time I checked that's nobody. You said it, friend…we're friends Angel."
Angel continues like she doesn't hear him.
"You're all up tight here lately. Maybe a little trip or somethin will cheer you up. I heard there's gonna be a huge party ova here on the East Coast. You should come home Pauly. We miss you here."
Pauly, "All my work is here right now. Your life is there and I think your friends need you there more than mine."
Angel responds, "Your friends are my friends, come on."
Pauly decides to end this conversation since it is going nowhere.
"Look Angel. You and I…we been tight since foreva but I just think we're not on the same page anymore."
Angel, "What do you mean?"
Pauly, "I'm not that life anymore. You know I got a Kid now, so I can't do the same crazy shit we used to do. When I party now, it's usually just work."
Pauly continues.
"…and speaking of which…I think it would be best if you waited for an invitation from me the next time I have a show."
Angel, "What?"
Pauly, "Don't take this personal, it's business. We talked about this before so I need you to cooperate with me this time."
Angel responds, "So you don't want me at any more of your shows? What is this Pauly?"
Pauly has had it.
"I'm sayin everyone who wants to be a guest at my shows, has to have an invitation from me personally. I'm also layin it out that I will call you when I can. If I don't get back to you when you call once, then wait for me to get back to you."
Pauly really wanted to tell Angel not to call him at all after listening to the voicemails she left him but he didn't want to cut her off cold turkey.
Well…the next response would have anyone thinking that Pauly did completely cut Angel off. She goes off. Pauly listens to only a little of it before deciding to hang up.
Pauly, "That's it. I'm gone. Goodbye Angel."
Angel practically growls into the phone, "No one loves you like I do Pauly, don't you hang up on me! When your so-called friends and fuck buddies start disappearing, who do you think is gonna be there…"
Pauly doesn't even wait for her to finish. He hangs up.
After sitting there for a while, he doesn't even try to analyze it anymore. He has said all he can to her and now it is time to take action to show he means business. He needs to create distance between them.
First thing the next day he is blocking Angel's number.
