NOTE – Just letting everyone know, although there short chapters this will be a long story. I can already feel it :) Hope you enjoy and feel free to review but I love that I have such a response to my story although I feel so dodgy with it ha, ha. But any who, enjoy! I gave you guys a longer chapter to compensate for my long as wait. My writing block is slightly over! Hopefully the chapter lived up to my previous ones. I will be going back too and fixing the obvious mistakes and all that jazz!
Being dismissed from class, I wandered out into the hallway. With Alison hot on my heels, grabbing my shoulder she spun me around. Angry was an understatement.
"What the hell, you just rush off from the house and then ignore me all day?" she demands, I nod slowly.
"Yeah, that was kinda the plan" I replied.
"We should talk about last night" she said, I narrow my eyes at her.
"You to, God am I the only sane Argent?" I said.
Pulling a face at me she sighed "Okay, meet me for coffee this afternoon then?"
"Maybe, I'll see how I feel I mean I did spend most of the night arguing with your father and using a blunt arrow to untie myself" I muttered, Alison gives me a look of shock and understanding.
"Are they teaching you?" she asked, I sighed and shook my head.
"No, I've already been taught Alison, on the day of my twelfth birthday party you know most girls get a dress or a doll but I got was a lesson in lycanthropy and forced to shoot animals as target practice and you know what else I was taught?" I said giving her an almost pleading look.
"What?" she asked.
"That we're a family raised on superstitions and neurotic personality traits" I replied, before pushing off down the hallway.
Running into a hard body as I rounded the corner too quick, I pushed myself away from them and muttered an apology. I looked up and saw a void of expression Boyd. He looked at me and nodded slowly. He seemed tired and uncaring that I had bumped into him; he seemed almost upset or annoyed at something.
"Careful Elspeth, the school is full of road blocks you just gotta push around them" he muttered before disappearing into the crowd.
What the hell? Since when did Boyd become a philosophical? Ugh, I hated this school more and more every damn day.
Grumbling my way through the day, I successfully managed to make it to my final period of the day. Drama, which I had with nobody and I was able to just enjoy my class and melt into a nothingness that was and what school should be like for a normal teenager, though I don't think life is going to be as easy as drama class.
About half way through class, I became the unfortunate student that had to run a errand for the teacher. Resulting in my early dismissal from class, I was about half way to my destination when the sound of two bickering voices that I knew too well unfortunately caught my attention.
"It's a rave, like a party I need you and Erica to get there and subdue Jackson" Derek's gruff voice rang out.
Slowing my pace down, so I could ease drop easier I continued to listen in.
"Will it take all night, I kinda had plans" Isaac asked.
A short deep growl was Derek's first response "You're part of a pack now, my pack and I need your head in the game Isaac this may be a life or death situation" he replied.
A pack? Like a pack of wolves?
"Okay, you have my full attention" Isaac replied.
"It's bad enough I have Scott dallying around with Alison, don't get caught up in Elspeth's drama she is still a Argent" Derek replied.
"Yeah but she's not that kind of Argent, she doesn't even know why her bracelet burnt us" Isaac replied.
Derek sighed "She needs to be told something" he muttered.
Coming around the corner, I frowned into the ground as I attempted to take no notice of the two men that were looking at me as I walked to the classroom. Exiting the classroom, I felt my stomach roll to see I was greeted by only one man and it was the one that had a habit of cornering me in an empty space.
"Good afternoon Derek" I said.
"Elspeth, come for a walk with me" he asked, I shook my head at him.
"No, I have to get back to class" I replied.
He chuckled "It wasn't a request more so a demand" he said, sending a chill throughout my body.
Nodding slowly, I anxiously walked closer to him until he was within grabbing distance. He shot me a reassuring smile which didn't comfort me at all.
"Are you going to kill me?" I asked suddenly as we were crossing the car park.
He looked at me and laughed "No, I don't need another reason for your family to attack me"
"Why would my family attack you?" I asked, did I really want to know the answer?
"Let's just say Argents and Hales' don't have a friendly history, get in the car" he replied, stepping forward and opening his car door for me.
Nodding I slide into the car, looking back at the school I spot Stiles and Scott looking out the window to me. Both of them worried and angry, I look to Derek who too spotted the boys. He smiled and gave a curt chuckle.
"That'll get all of 'em riled up" he replied, before hitting his floor to the gas and taking off.
I didn't know where he was taking me until I noticed that we weren't heading into the forestry or anywhere creepy, we were in the middle of Beacon Hills and we were surrounded by people. I looked at Derek and saw he seemed relaxed almost.
"You're not going to chop me up or beat me up in the middle of suburbia are you?" I asked.
"No, I'm not all evil Elspeth I thought I'd take you to a public place away from Isaac, Scott and Jackson so we can talk" he replied, pulling into a small car park for a empty coffee shop.
"Dude, you could have just talked to me like a normal person I was mentally writing my good-bye letters" I muttered as I pulled myself from the car.
Derek laughed "Oh I can still be menacing, I'm just choosing to be gentle come now" he said, ushering me inside.
Sitting down in the corner of the shop, we we're served our coffee's quite quick. I was also quick to notice the date aroma this had. Well, this is awkward. Looking at me, his face was set into stone.
"Are you all human?" I asked suddenly, pulling him back slightly.
"What makes you say that?" he replied.
"Creepiness, close pack of friends and an awesome body" I replied, my face falling into a serious mask.
"I'm pretty sure I'm a human" he replied, a short smile on his lips.
He's lying to you. Oh great, that's not a creepy thought to have. Taking a sip of my coffee, I glance to my bracelet and frown. Maybe the sizzling should have been a clue that Derek wasn't 100% human.
"What did you want to talk to me about Derek" I asked.
"We need to talk you and Isaac and you and what's been chasing you" he replied sternly.
"So let me get this straight, a Kanima aka the thing that has been tormenting me has a master who is forcing the Kanima to attack me?" I asked, Derek nodded slowly at me.
We'd been talking for over two hours now and several phone calls from Alison, Stiles and Scott later. I'd finally been let in on a little bit about this town.
"But I haven't killed anyone, I don't know how the thing is after me then" I replied.
"We gather the bond between the Kanima and master is strong enough that it can do its own bidding" he replied.
"And you reckon Jackson is the Kanima, not the master?" I asked.
"We know certainly, we've seen him shift" Derek replied.
Looking into my lap, I felt a wash of general ickyness wash over me.
"Ew, I made out with a Kanima" I muttered.
Derek chuckles and nods "Yeah, Jackson's always been a snake"
I nod "Yep. Look it's getting late I need to get my car and all that jazz but Derek, thank-you for telling me about the Kanima I mean it wasn't that hard and in a way I feel safer knowing what is wondering out there after me" I said.
"I did it because I want to protect Isaac and Scott, I don't know what it is about you and Alison but you've got them under your thumbs so I by protecting you I'm protecting them" he replied.
"Why do you want to protect them?" I asked.
Derek gives me a smirking smile and shrugs "Because their part of my oh don't know what to call... a pack"
Pulling up to the school, I felt myself groan as I noticed three people leaning against my car. There were three cars in the entire parking lot. Mine, Derek's and Stiles; standing by my car was a seething Alison, Stiles and Scott. Their faces were of pure anger when I got from the car; turning back to Derek he had a hard mask on his face.
"Thank-you Derek, I guess after everything you're not too shabby" I said.
"Stay safe Elspeth" he replied, before hitting the gas and shooting off.
Turning back, I was face to face with my new friends and one seriously pissed off cousin. Alison looked to be vibrating from anger. She better not lash out at me, I wasn't much of a fighter. I would fight but it was always with my words.
"Alison" I said.
"You are the most annoying and dim witted person I have come across in eons! Do you not understand that with everything going on around you, disappearing in a car with Derek Hale is not the most comforting thing to be told by Stiles and Scott!" she snapped at me.
Putting my hands up in defence, I shot her a weak smile "Chill, Derek did something you were all too chicken to do" I replied.
"Like what Elspeth?" Scott interjected, stepping around Alison.
"The Kanima and its master, we've gathered that Jackson morphs at night into the creature that killed Anika and attacked me" I said, looking at them as their faces drifted into shock and annoyance.
"Derek told her" Stiles said.
"Thank-you Captain Obvious" I replied.
"Why aren't you flipping out?" Scott asked me.
I shrugged "I kinda had to get over my disbelief of all supernatural; I mean I did see the thing kill a girl and maul me my grieving of lost innocent is long gone, I just want my parents back and the thing to leave me alone" I replied.
"Is that all Derek told you about?" Alison asked, glancing to Scott.
I nodded "Yep, but from what I'm guessing is that their once again is more to the story then what I'm told" I muttered.
"Do we tell her?" Stiles muttered to Scott.
"Not yet, she knows enough to stay safe" Scott replied.
Clicking my tongue three times, I sighed and barged past the two boys. Flinging open my car door, I threw my bag into the front seat and looked back at the three of them.
"Stop keeping me in the dark, you're meant to be my friends yet Derek is the one who sheds me some light on what might or might not tear me into a thousand pieces" I snapped, slamming the door shut behind me.
Throwing myself onto the bed, I grumbled at everything. Derek Hale, the one I've been afraid of has been the most truthful to me. I mean that has to show something, I'm not a delicate flower I can defend myself. I mean that thing attacked twice and I'm still kicking.
Knock, knock.
"Go away" I call out.
"Let me in before someone knows I'm here" Isaac's voice called out.
Pulling myself up off the bed almost instantly, I fumbled over to the door and flung it open. Standing their awkwardly, he threw a glance over his shoulder and barged into my room as Gerard made his way out of his bedroom. He gave me a solid nod, which I replied with a nod, shutting the door behind me.
Turning around, Isaac was laying across my bed casually staring at my empty and lifeless room. He pulled a small face at a photo frame with a family picture. Including a young Alison and I.
"How homely" he said.
I arched an eyebrow at him and crossed my arms "What do you want?" I demanded.
He gave me a look and patted the bed beside him, sitting down a bit away from him. I gave him with void expression. I wasn't in the mood for anyone, not even Isaac.
"Do you make a habit of breaking into girls houses?" I asked.
He chuckled and shrugged "It's kind of a phase I'm going through" he shrugged, I laughed lightly.
"Dork" I muttered.
"Heard you went out and got coffee with Derek today" he asked, I glanced to him his face had fallen slightly serious.
"I did, he's been the most truthful around here" I replied.
"You could have asked me" he replied.
I gave him a void look "Oh come on dumb-dumb, you know as well as I do that wasn't the case"
He shrugged and moved forward to me, reaching up he grabbed my chin and pulled my face gently to his. A soft quick kiss and he smiled at me, slightly shaking his head.
"You know so much but aren't putting two and two together" he replied, kissing me gently once more.
