Creating Our World Chapter 19
—
Hey Lovies!
So if you've noticed, i've updated the past 2 days and today was twice. I was so excited about rediscovering this story that I wanted to present everything before I forgot a good idea. Well, now I've decided to have a schedule. So Wednesday's, Friday's, and Saturday's I will update the story. THIS IS THE LAST CHAPTER GOING UP THIS WEEK BEFORE THIS NEW UPDATED SCHEDULE SO PLEASE DONT WONDER WHERE I WENT. Anyway, onto our intro.
—-
The war ended three years ago. Sokka, Toph, Suki, Zuko, and I all helped save the world thanks to our Avatar Aang. With the exception of a life we lost, Yue.
Life after the war hasn't been the easiest to tell you the truth. From me being kidnapped, to Aang's repopulation plan, to Mai's pregnancy complications...to be honest, I wish we were back in the war days again. At least then I knew that we would all still be friends in the end.
However, there has been happiness to correspond with the sadness. Yue is back! Umm, well that's good for everyone but Suki. Well...we found a new Earth King! Yeah, I give up, life's pretty rough.
The new adjustments to our lives have been hard, and with the new responsibilities, come new problems. Problems all of us are going to have to face.

Previously On Avatar….
Mai went into labor. And Aang had a choice to make.
—
Regular P.O.V.
There wasn't anything the Gaang could do to go back to the way things were before these new times had arisen. Mai's premature labor. Yue coming back from the Spirit World. Republic City. Aang's repopulation plan. Everyone was spinning. Spinning out of control.
Well, except Toph.
The Blind Bandit stood on the sidelines as her friends went through life-changing events, and couldn't do anything about it except for just be there. But even if she was there, it wasn't like she really made a difference.
She was forced to stand by as Aang comforted Katara and the other way around. While Sokka and Suki fought. While Yue pines for Sokka's attention. While Zuko wished for his wife to hold him again.
She had nothing going on with her. No one standing with her.
I mean, it's not exactly like the earthbender really wanted anyone to hold her and tell her everything was going to be okay. She would know they were lying. She just wanted to feel like she was bringing something to the group again, instead of reminding them that they had a blind friend who was a human lie detector.
So all she could do was sit.
Sit.
And wait.
For anything.
For someone.
For...a sign?
"Toph."
The short girl looked up, not really needing to, and was immediately reminded of her friend the firebender.
"What's up Zuko?"
"Remember when you asked me what I was going to name my child? Well actually, you asked me if I was going to put a 'z' somewhere in my child's name." Zuko humored, flashing the first smile he's shown in a while.
"Haha. Yea I remember. Pick a name yet?" She replied, sitting on the nearby couch with her friend standing in front of her.
"I was thinking Zhen for a girl. It means precious. Or Zhi for a boy. That means wisdom. Something I wish I'd had in my youth." He joked again, chucking at the end.
"Yea Sparky, I wish you had had that too. It would've saved my feet from a nice burn." Toph lifted her feet for emphasis.
"Yea, I'm still really sorry about that." Zuko replies, rubbing the back of his head and sitting down next to the bender.
"Ah, forget about it. You have bigger problems."
Zuko looked off into the distance, falling silent to Toph's notice.
"I meant with being the Firelord and everything! Plus having your mom and her family just added into your life, little old me will wait for payback." Toph finished, slapping Zuko on his back.
"Haha, I can't wait for that Toph. It'll be an interesting fight," Zuko said, rising from the couch and smoothing of his clothes. "So? Like the names?"
"They're perfect Sparky."
Toph may not have been able to comfort anyone really, but she was their friend, and sometimes, that's all people need.
Two Days Later
"AANG!"
The Avatar rushes toward the sound of his love and almost panicked at her exasperated tone.
"Katara! Sweetie? What's wrong?"
Katara turned toward the Avatar and revealed the sleeping beauty she had been watching over for the past two days. Mai had been in a coma ever since the surgery, but that didn't stop one member of the Gaang standing by her until she awoke.
"She moved! I mean, her body didn't move, but her hand did! I dropped the incense from the table top and reached down to get them before they started a fire and when I passed by the bed by her hand, it moved!" Katara said jumping and pointing at the Firelady's hand.
"That's great sweetheart, you should tell Zuko." Aang smiled, holding onto his love's shoulders.
"I was going to, but he's in the nursery. I didn't want to disturb him."
Aang turned toward the adjoining room to the one he was in. Zuko had been trying to clean out the room ever since he heard the news that the baby had perished, but his wife survived.
Aang has told him everything. From Mai's request to the decision he had to make regarding whose life to save. Zuko has agreed on everything the Avatar has decided, but that didn't make the loss any easier.
"I'll tell him." Katara concluded.
The waterbender walked toward the room and gently nudged the door. She found her friend bent onto his knees and with a blanket in his hand.
"Zuko? Is it okay if I come in?"
The firebender quickly whipped his head toward his friend and nodded, wiping tears from his face.
"Oh Zuko, I have good news." Katara revealed, rushing up to him and rubbing his back.
"How is there any good news? My baby is gone, Mai will never forgive herself when she wakes up, and the worst part is, I couldn't do anything. Not one thing to help my family." Zuko justified, going back to crying into the baby blanket.
Katara held her friend. This moment reminded her of the time they were both trapped in that crystal cave. How she would give anything to have troubles like those again. She knew she couldn't really say anything to lighten his pain. But she could let him know that she was there. And so was everyone else.
"Zuko, it's no secret I've experienced a death in the family. I couldn't imagine your pain, but I could only guess it's how my mother felt when she gave her life for mine. Yes, Mai will be broken. And yes, you are broken right now, but that's what we are here for. My father had a whole village to help him after that loss, and you have a whole Nation plus 5 idiots that would do anything for you."
Zuko officially broke down then, succumbing to his internal pain. He wouldn't be okay, not ever. But he would get through this. Because that's what he had to do.
Two Days Ago
Sokka read the message from the Fire Nation pigeon and grasped his mouth.
"What is it?"
"Zuko...his...Mai...the baby is gone."
Iroh broke. Falling to his knees and grasping his hat off of his head. The other white lotus member came from inside the tea shop and helped their friend up, bringing him inside.
"Oh my gosh." Suki could barely see behind the wall of potential tears forming in her eyes.
Yue looked back and forth between each person that stood in front of her and went over to comfort Sokka, breaking Suki's heart even more.
"We should head back." Sokka concluded, pushing Yue away from him.
"Yes, of course. First, the information you desired," Bumi started walking toward Suki to hold her incase she fell. "Yue's return is by no means a permanent one. It's more like a warning from my understanding. It seems as though the Avatar has forgotten his purpose to bridge the two worlds and the unnatural balance of the two has lead to many of the spirits becoming upset. In response, they sent Yue, someone you all-most of you knew, to remind you of their power. The moon and Yue is a mere warning for what's to come if the Avatar does not listen to their cries."
Great. Add another thing to Aang's list. As though it wasn't long enough.
"So, what? Aang listens to them and everything goes back to normal?" Sokka questioned.
"Not exactly. Tell Aang what I've told you today, I believe he will know what to do next."
"What about me? What will happen to me?" Yue chimes in.
"It seems as though your visit is almost over, I give it another 4 days, and on the full moon, you will return to your peaceful state in the Spirit Realm."
"But what about my memories?"
"No one is perfect, not even spirits. Perhaps it was a mere miscalculation, you should receive them once you are put back into your rightful place. Don't worry, it will be as easy as you falling asleep here, and waking up in the Spirit Realm as though this were all a dream."
"Yes sir, thank you for everything." Sokka responded. The group made their way toward the Fire Nation but before they could go...
"Please, give my condolences to the Firelord." Bumi expressed, never looking more serious than in this moment.
"Of course."
