Well, long time no see! I won't bore you guys about why I was gone so long. Now, to the story!
Chapter 21
Sorry
(Sky's pov)
Arguing with Jerome was never a good thing.
"The monsoon season is coming soon, you guys have to leave now."
"Just for a few days longer, or until he wakes up."
"If you two stay a few days longer you'll get caught up with the storm and you'll be staying here longer than few days. I'm telling you, you have to leave now or later today!"
"Are you kicking us out cause Bajan is scared or because you're scared?!"
"It isn't that at all! You know better than anyone else that Bajan and I don't go judge'in others."
"Yea… Come on Jerome! Just until he wakes up, please!"
"You said it yourself! If water caused those burns, than being in the middle of a three month storm won't help at all! Anyway, the humidity from the jungle isn't helping with his condition."
"But-"
"No, Sky. You know I'll let you two stay but I'm thinking of the kid too. Your just really worried and not thinking straight."
I hate arguing with him because I know he always wins.
I stayed silent and looked over to the bed where Enderlox was laying at. Right now we were at Jerome and Bajan's place. It was the closest help I could find.
I don't remember too much but I had woken up that night by a scream. It sounded like someone screaming 'Stop'. When I was aware of my surroundings, I noticed that Enderlox was gone. I had a mini panic attack, but I quickly calmed down. I knew he could defend himself and mobs really didn't attack him. I learned that the first night of our little adventure.
I got up to look around for him only to hear some faint voice. I followed the voice but…I was too late.
I saw him and an Enderman together at an edge of a lake. By the tears on his face and his frighten expression, I knew that this wasn't a friendly visit. I saw a push, heard a splash and I immediately screamed out to Enderlox, but screaming doesn't help. It never does.
The Enderman disappeared and I jumped into the lake. I hadn't seen much when I was in the lake but once I felt something I grabbed it immediately. I felt something burning my hand upon contact but I didn't let go. I knew what was in my hand was an arm and with that in mind I swam to the top as fast as I could. I broke through the surface and pulled Enderlox through and dragged him to land. I was soaking wet but for Enderlox it was a completely different story.
Most of his skin had severely burned off and it just hurt to look at him. I had never seen such grotesque injuries before and seeing the sight of bone, I couldn't seem to hold down whatever food I had in me. His whole body was burnt, not leaving an inch of skin even remotely okay. There wasn't even much blood either, or what I think was his blood. The same dark ooze was seeping out of him like when we were at the End. Parts of his arms showed bone while the rest of his body was showing repulsive red muscles. Even his face wasn't sparred.
I had quickly gotten up and was standing over Enderlox. I couldn't tell if he was even alive at that point. I soon realized that standing over him while my whole body was still soaking wet wasn't the best idea. Water started to drip from my hair or my shirt and would land on him. Hearing the sizzling sound when the water made contact with his skin made me cringe and step back a few paces. At that moment I had no idea on what to do.
"How long do you think it'll be 'til he heals?"
"I can't say, I've never seen anything like this."
"Then how are we going to get back?"
"I'll come with you of course and help! Do you really think I'm going to let you go off with a half dead teen, on a horse, for a few days? You not really the tender, love and caring type Sky."
"I know that! I was just hoping I could still convince you to stay for a few more days…"
"Hey, he'll be better off at your place. Seto will be able to take care of him. 'Kay?"
"Fine… Will Bajan be coming to?"
"He has to prepare the treehouse for the monsoon. So, no. Although it would be nice if he came along."
"Yea. Okay, then so when do we leave?"
"How about…in two hours? Yea, two hours. We'll prepare to leave in that time."
"Okay."
Two hours. What a short amount of time left.
After I made sure I was completely dry, I picked him up and carried him on my back. I know now this wasn't the best way to take him to safety but I wasn't really thinking. I was too worried about him. The trek to the jungle took a lot longer than I thought it was. I thanked Notch the whole way that he was still breathing and that no mobs attacked us.
Once we were at the edge of the jungle, I noticed the sky getting brighter. I had laid Enderlox down against a tree and traveled on my own to find the treehouse. Although I made sure the sun had risen before I left him on his own. But I didn't bother getting a good look at him in the light. I was afraid I would throw up again.
After I had found house and was able to get Jerome and Bajan to follow, I finally started to relax a bit. Jerome had carried him up to the top of their home and Bajan help bandage him up. Enderlox looked like a mummy after Bajan was done with him. He also looked dead…
I stayed there for about two days before Jerome started suggesting that we leave. I have been in a chair for those two days watching Enderlox to see if he would wake up, but he never did. He hadn't even moved, not even his eyelids flickered. I guess it would be better if we brought him back home. Seto knew how to heal others, hopefully he knew how to heal burns as well.
If only I hadn't fallen asleep. He even told me that he felt uneasy yet I was too off guard to actually worry. This is my fault why he's like this. When he wakes up I swear I'll make it up to him. I swear I will, I need to apologize. But what would be a good enough apology gift?
"…home…"
I was so deep in thought I almost missed that. My eyes had widen and I jumped out of my chair with so much force that the chair fell backwards. Jerome had already left the room but quickly returned to see what the noise was about.
"What's wrong Sky?"
"N-Nothing. I thought I heard something," I said to him reassuringly.
He gave a slight nod and left the room once more.
I sat back down. At least I knew what to do. I mean he did ask for it before, but I kind of lied to him so I would hurt his feelings and all, but… I guess lying to him wasn't very nice.
"Hey Enderlox, I'm sorry I let this happen to you," I said in a hushed voice, "I'll make it up okay? I'll bring you back. Back to the End. I'm sorry."
I don't know why, but I felt something ominous when I said 'End'. I took a look at Enderlox and it almost seemed like he was scared or that he didn't want to go. But that was only a feeling.
Well…Whad'ya think? Not my best work but you know, I tried. Now things will start getting even more interesting from here on out. Yay!
