Chapter 21
"This is where souls long gone from their bodies are." My mother says.
Now find Tobias here. The words echo in my head. They stay there. He is dead. Long gone from his body and is here. Should I be happy he is here with me or be mad at him for being dead?
"Is Tobias here?" I ask her shyly.
"I don't think he's here."
He is. The voice tells me. They are lying only to protect you.
Who is the one to trust? The one who has lied to me many times or the one who I have always loved? But the one who lies has some truth, but then they have lied. Maybe the one I have always loved has lies to them.
But I run toward the row of gray houses anyway. I see flashes of familiar faces on the run, but I don't stop to acknowledge them. The only face I want, need, to see right now is Tobias. This is what I have been waiting for. A chance to be with him. To start over again with him.
I am forgiven for everything that I have done. I have done so much for him. We will have an endless love that will be remembered. He will forgive me.
But the thoughts of him dead in the Other World spirals in my head. How did he die? Suicide or did someone kill him? What if someone who hated me wanted to kill Tobias? It's Peter or maybe someone who I thought was a friend, Christina.
I will always love you Tobias. Even if you are not in this place, I will love you. My journey ends soon and I rather have you living than with me. You have so much potential and I don't want you to waste it.
I charge into a full speed sprint and I hit another person, which sends me falling against the sidewalk. "Sorry," I say.
The head do the last looks up and I recognize her.
"Tori," I say to her.
"Tris," she says. "Welcome."
"Your brother is alive."
She looks down at her shoes. "I know." She grabs my shoulder and brings her head to my ear. "This is all fake," she whispers. "I know you may not trust me, but this is just a scam. Believe me. And when you return to George say hi for me."
She lies The voice says.
"I will," I say in a low voice.
"Go." She motions for me to leave and I do.
I look around the row of gray house to find which looks like the one Tobias would be in. Out of the corner of my eye, I see a slightly darker gray house that is separate from the others. I walk up to the house and knock.
A boy with sea blue eyes and dark hair answers. Our eyes meet like it's the very first time, but they have meet hundreds of times. No.
The words spill out of my mouth, "Hi, Four."
A/N: So this is a slightly longer chapter because some of you have requested it and I can't wait for you guys to learn about the end, which will be around the 25ish chapter.
