"Carnage?" What in the world?

Venom notices now, eye patches widening at his twisted offspring. "Why are you here." Not asked, merely stated in a flat basic tone. I see that Carnage is obviously pleased by the effect he's having on us. I can smell his barely contained glee.

I don't even realize I moving to growl until I've done it. My fangs show in a snarl. "Grrr." The enemy symbiote shifts to get a better look at me. "Oh, look who's here. Slash." "How do you know my name?" I move closer to get a better target. I can see Venom doing the same. But Carnage is wily enough to move back out of range. He laughs in response to my question. I get closer. "How do you know?" I hiss again.

Laughter. Wild, psychotic laughter. Just the sort a human would expect out of a madman in a horror movie. You watch horror movies, Slash? Since when? I don't remember you seeing any. I silently groan. L, this is not the time... She continues. I know, but when have you seen a horror movie? Did you like it? I give in. I was watching too, when you were at base watching one. I thought it was horribly cheesy. A giggle. That it was, sister. That it was.

Did she just call me sister? I pause in amazement, but soon have to bring my attention back to the current situation. "Leave, Carnage." It's only a matter of time before either Venom or I attack. "I'm not going to." He answers back, still highly amused with everything. Such a child. Venom is appearing to roll his eye patches. Glad to know I'm not the only one here thinking that. I am, too! Reply is automatic. Thank you for sharing the same opinion as me for once in our lives. Now be quiet.

I leap forward, jaws open to bite Carnage. But he's too quick and is out of range too fast. "Let's play tag!" His claws catch my flanks and I am almost dragged towards him before Venom interferes. "Thanks for saving my tail." I say reluctantly to him before I start planning my next counterattack. There's a flash of surprise on Venom's face. IT quickly vanishes when I glance back at him.

By then, Carnage has attacked again. He makes another grab for my tail, missing this time around. Why is he only going after you, and not Venom? Very good point L makes. Why is he after me? You would think he would go for his 'creator' who has tried to kill him every turn and hasn't wasted any time denying that hatred instead of a stranger that merely shoved him off a building. "You know, you were the one that made it personal. If you had left her alone, I wouldn't have touched you." Carnage's eyes widen. "So, you're connected to that girl that bit me?" I can feel hate in those few syllables.

Oops. I nearly bash my head in the ground, I am such a fool. L's put it mildly. I'm actually surprised she didn't blow on me about revealing her connection to me. The way I see it, was that he was going to find out eventually and besides, I thought he knew already, like you. Her explanation somehow gets me to feel better. "You could say that." "Good. Because I'm gonna hunt her down and make her scream. You're my ticket to get her." Carnage is now even more determined to grab me and do something to me. Something bad.

Good thing I'm not going to let that happen. I go on the attack, biting down on his claws the next time they touch my tail. My tail gets in the way but I can deal with the pain. Blood drips down, both his and my own. I grip his wrist, tearing in deeper. Of course, I didn't expect him to turn his hand inside my mouth and start ripping the roof of it.

I screech. Finally I let him go. Blood is everywhere. It's still flooding my mouth. I spit in an attempt to get it out. For once in my life, the taste of blood does not taste delicious. Is that because it is your own? Will there be a time when the blood of innocents no longer appeals to you? A nasty insidious voice, the same that accompanied me in L's silence, speaks. You are a monster with the blood of helpless humans on your claws. Soon, you will slaughter their children, despite your 'rules'.

An image of Rocket dances before my eyes. I caused her death...and those of many others. Those other humans weren't nameless, faceless. No matter how vile they were, someone cared about them once. Truly cared. I look down at my claws covered in human gore. What have I done?

Both aliens watch in shock. Slash, for some reason, after looking down at her claws, shuts down, eyes wide. It's like she's gone into shock. But that's impossible...is it? The moment is broken by Carnage smirking and saying, "Well, at least she won't struggle." That sets Venom off, the symbiote off, to attack him.

Red and black all over again. But this time it is personal, family. Not a battle between strangers. All the while, Slash sits there, breathing in short shallow gasps. Her eyes have shrunk to pinpoints. Even though the fighters draw close to her many times, she has no reaction but to curl up tighter into a ball.

The shivers won't stop.

Hiding, trying to hide from them. Dead eyes, hunting me. Hiding.

Slash, stop freaking out! A voice? Stop, it's going to be ok. You hear? All ok!

Red everywhere. Hands dragging me down. Into the red.

You've handled worse wounds than this. Heck, you almost died once and you didn't act like this.

People above me. Laughing. "We won't hurt you. Much." Blades tearing scales out...

Oh no. The voice sounds horrified. Is that what those sickos did to you? When you wouldn't let me out? Here, let me help the pain. Part of me wants to rebel. I have to take it, take the pain. The rest of me folds back, grateful for this chance. I could swear hearing a last few words. You've always helped me. Now it's my turn.
