And that kids is what happens when you don't get distracted! :D

I actually find it really ironic how the title for this Fanfic is 'Distractions' and that is literally what happens to me whenever I try to write it. I get distracted :P But I finish nevertheless!

Again, a special thanks to zentih88 and LuigiWife1551 for reading and reviewing! You guys are what keeps me going. And also to the rest of my readers! Every view counts :3

Now without further adieu - the 4th to last chapter ;P

Surprisingly enough, me screaming my battle cry whilst breaking a window did nothing to grab the attention of our enemies. No alarms blared, no guards were shouting nor shooting at us, it was eerily quiet. I had almost decided that we had the wrong ship before two guards came into my view around the corner. They were engaged in an animate, but casual conversation about something dramatic, and best of all our entire group of 11 hadn't been seen. I took a stealthy approach, telling everyone behind me to wait in the corridor whilst I snuck up on the guards. I crept forward, wrench in hand, dotting in and out of the few corridors that connected through the hallway. When I got to the closest intersection, I still hadn't been noticed as the thugs ahead of me were still talking about some sort of extreme fishing trip they went on last week. I reared back quickly, putting all of my weight onto the right leg and holding my wrench out behind me, then sprung back up, flinging the millenium 12 at the fishermans head. His unconscious body slumped onto his friend as the wrench had returned, and I did the same movement aimed at the next one whose face momentarily was plastered with shock.

"Clear," I announced to the small army in hiding, as soon enough their robotic footsteps came closing in on my position, Talwyn leading them. Without any words to arouse suspicion, we stuffed the guards in the nearest supply closet. Cliche, I know, but it works.

We continued forth diving deeper into the ship, the soft patter of footsteps the only noise penetrating the silence. And since the rangers were set to stealth mode, there wasn't much of a disturbance. Our goal was to split off into two groups, the Rangers would be going to the head of the ship to hold the Varl and other personnel there captive. Talwyn, Clank and I would be heading to the centre of the massive warship to destroy the engines, as well as planting bombs along the way. That was the pride of the Freys military, would be gone. No second invasion could occur quickly, and Varl would be in prison. Job well done I thought, if it worked. I had full trust that the rangers would be able to bring the Cragmite down. They may be slightly cowardly, but they knew what to do and when to do it. They would never back down from a fight… Well barely ever.

We had just got to another cross junction when we was two guards running… Away from us? I was sure we hadn't been spotted, unless one of those guards I knocked out earlier had woken up, but that I highly doubted. One thing was for sure though, those guards were running fast. Springing their heels off in the most suspicious manner.

"Alpha Squad, we'll part here. Go left till you reach the Control Room. You know what to do from there."

"Roger that Sarge, these Frey will be easy prey." I rolled my eyes at the rangers humor, to be honest I wasn't in the mood.

"Just make sure Varl doesn't try anything fishy. Good luck," And with that Talwyn and I ran off, Clank right behind me, literally. It would take another minute just to get to the centre of the ship, as well as a minute for the rangers to get to the ships headquarters so timewise everything should be fine. Whilst running I took out my old Tesla Claw, and grinned at the nostalgia this weapon brang. This and the Devastator were two of the weapons key to taking Drek down, as wel las sucking up those oversized Agents of Doom with the Suck Cannon. Good times.

Not even after half a minute of running at a fair pace, we bumped into a guard who was initially hidden. After realising what had happened and why I was on the ground, I took action and fried him to a crisp, with minimal effort in doing so. Talwyn pulled me back up soon after and we continued running to our destination, but not long after than the ship turned from a boring silver, to a red light rave. The alarms had gone of which meant that the Rangers had been spotted, or the person I just electrocuted was able to send a transmission before carking it. Either way, armed guards would be coming at us soon, so time was of the essence.

We reached a heavy metal door at the end of the main corridor that spelt out 'Engine Room' for us, and the thought that this was soon going to be over glided through me and I smiled.

"Sarge, we are seconds away from the door. No units are lost. How's your side going?" J-32's voice suddenly appeared in my ear, and I moved my wrist up to my mouth to respond.
"Good. We're just about to set up our fireworks and get out of here. You set the bombs?" The robot laughed.

"Of course sarge! Anyway, see you on the otherside." The small transmission ended, and I had a good feeling wash over me as I swapped out my Tesla Claw for my Arbiter.

"Ready guys?" I asked my accompaniment who both said yes simultaneously, and with that I kicked down the door.

The engine bay was full with guards who all had their blasters trained on where the door used to reside, and where we now stood. At an instant, Talwyn and I had took cover behind the walls, avoiding most of the fire that came towards us. I took a different approach to the explosive weapon I held, and replaced it with the Heavy Lancer, which was much easier to aim with from cover, even being a double handed weapon. A few tactical shots saw 3 men down on our oppositions team, but here were still more arriving at the scene. None from behind us luckily enough, though who knew how long that would last. After another couple of hots, as well as a hammering on the trigger, another 11 guards had disappeared, which left just 6 out of the original 20. More were definitely bound to come round, so I finally got the chance to take out the Arbiter again, and this time use it. I jumped into the doorway and fired 3 successive shots, as fast as the gun would. The 3 missiles hit the part of the ship I was aiming at, the engine. Blue flames shot out from all the new cracks in the various components which moved the ship. It was already struggling to keep the ship suspended in the air, and looked like it was going to explode soon, so now was time for phase two. Getting out of here on the other side of the ship. I grabbed Talwyns hand, and quickly dotted through the carnage and smoke. Nearby guards weren't of any harm as my wrench always got to them before they saw us, as it wasn't too long before we were on the opposite yet identical side of the ship. The side which was facing the land we needed to end up on, rather than getting soaked in the brown ocean that was all over the planet.

I quickly took out the Arbiter again for one last shot at the engine. The trigger, which would cause the greater part of the ship to explode, as well as stop floating. The hardest part would be getting out in time, though there was always my hoverboots for that. I fired the missile launched, and had in back inside my quick select glove before it connected with the engine itself. Talwyn was then soon in my arms as we hoverbooted to the exterior of the ship.

The race to the outside was shorter, though much more dangerous than the stealthy approach that our group first took. We we';re speeding through the corridor, much like when I was carrying Talwyn to safety after her legs got damaged by the Cragmite virus. A least this time she was conscious and even smiling as I looked at her.

"Ratchet!" Clank shouted a warning, and I looked behind us. The engine had exploded and the blue flames we saw before was fulling up to corridors behind me like water. I also noticed the faintest falling sensation. We were in the danger zone, and I still hadn't heard anything from the Rangers… They've just teleported out of the ship with Varl I told myself, deterring my thoughts on it for the moment. To help boost us along, Clank had replaced his hands with the Heli-Pack fans so that instead of the fire gaining on us quickly, it was more like a 'We'll just make it' situation. And now the exit was fast approaching, but I only just realised how far away from land we were. It was going to take a big jump for us to make it to the beach at least.

"Clank, get reading to boost us up!" I shouted over the carnage behind us, and the new seemingly louder alarm that went off after the engine blew. We now had seconds till the edge of the ship, and seconds till we were engulfed in flames. But I was sure we would make it.

"Okay, Clank. Three… Two… One… Now!" I shouted again, and suddenly felt myself and Talwyn being pulled up slightly as I pushed up with my legs and Clank put his main fan to use. I felt a bit of pain as the blue fire tongued the air outside and singed my tail, but it was a weak flame being so far away from its source so it didn't get far. And with my hoverboots combined with Clank, I was sure that we would land on solid ground.

The glide itself was fairly peaceful as we looked at the ship behind us, which was ever so slightly falling. It wasn't until I noticed the head of the ship in flames that bad thoughts ruined the moment. Had the Rangers gotten out with Varl? Or were their memories teleported out of the ship as their robotic bodies were melted? I guess I'd have to wait for an answer as It could take a while for a ride to come pick us up, though I doubt we'd have company.

Eventually we landed on the surprisingly lush grass that covered the field we landed on, just off the shore. I was glad for it too - Sand was one of the worst things to get out of my fur, even with armour on it was bounding to get through somehow. I looked over at the giant warship that we had just sabotaged. It looked like it was hanging off a string at the rear which was slowly letting it down into the sea, the the backup motors didn't look ready to give up yet. But whilst looking at the half wrecked ship, I felt a sense of peace. The job had been done - If anything Varl would still be on that ship, posing no danger to anyone, except for being annoying in the afterlife perhaps. But he was away from me and that was the best part.

Talwyn had decided to lie down in the short grass, a smile on her face that shouted 'We did it!' And I couldn't blame her. I was even willing to join her, after I got some of this armour off. Clank had hopped off my back and saw now sitting next to the markazian, thinking things over with a subtle smile on his metallic lips and with that I pulled my green breastplate over my head, dropped it on the ground and joined the others.

"So that went well!" I almost laughed out as I rested my head of the soft green grass. I felt like I was on a bed… Maybe I could stuff my mattress with this stuff…

"Yeah, surprisingly." Talwyn commented, and Clank decided to add to it.

"It was quite close, I agree."
"Since when has it not been close?" I asked my best friend through a laugh this time, and the others agreed.

"Maybe one day, it'll be so easy you can do it all from bed."
"Now that, is an idea." I smiled, and my hand somehow found Talwyns. Then the three of us just lay there for a moment, savouring the peace that came after battle for once. But with our luck the peace didn't last long, there was an intruder approaching. But an intruder of the good kind. The dropship I recognised from the Starship Phoenix was making it's way towards us.

It landed at the edge of the lush field and opened its door to reveal a certain someone I hadn't seen in a while. She wore a purple suit, and had a brown coat of fur on her with fox like ears. The, new, mayor of metropolis was approaching.

Sasha.

You like it? Mini cliffhanger :P Nothing happens between the four... Nothing much that is ;) Then again, I haven't written it yet so last years version is always subject to change...
