Chapter 21 - Chancellor Confrontations
No Ones POV
The chancellor sat in his office, marking the latest papers submitted for late entrance. It was a typical office, a dark mahogany table and chair - filled with an assortment of files, papers, pens and pencils. Each wall was covered in bookshelves, each filled with all kind of books ranging from small handbooks to big volumes. He finished signing one of the papers, circling the final mark when a loud knock from the doors disturbed him, his hand flinching and drawing a red line across the page. He cursed under his breath before shuffling the papers away.
"Come in."
The door burst open to reveal Austin, Ally, Candy and Seth. Austin and Ally both looking like they were going to tear each other OR the Chancellor apart. However, Candy and Seth lurked behind, hands joined.
"Ah, Austin. Ally. A pleasure to see you." He greeted. Austin and Ally both marched up to his desk and slammed their hands on the worktop.
"Who's in PMA?" They both asked in unison. The Chancellor looked taken aback.
"You both are." He confirmed. Immediately they both shot back retorts.
"I told you I was in!"
"Um no, he said I was in."
"Wait what?!" They both screamed. Flinching again, he straightened out his tie and sat back properly, his cheeks looking flushed.
"You both got in." He said again, nodding. Austin looked confused while Ally scrunched up her face.
"Then why did you tell us that there was only one place?" Austin asked, running a hand through his hair.
"Yeah, do you know how much fighting and arguing we've been through because of this?" Ally hissed.
"Well, originally there was only one space open. But due to your final performance, I kicked out another student so both of you could get in." The Chancellor said. "You two should be overjoyed."
"We are, it was just that.. Nevermind." Austin muttered.
"Thank you for sorting things out Chancellor." Ally faked a smile before turning and walking out the door, Austin, Candy and Seth at her heels.
"You guys coming to my place?" Ally asked Seth and Candy as they left the building.
"Sure"
"Why not."
"Can I come?" A third voice inputted. Everyone turned to Austin wide eyed, Ally especially.
"Oh, uh, yeah." She stuttered out.
Candy, Seth, Austin, Ally and Kayla were sitting awkwardly in Ally's living room, TV turned on, lights dimmed down - but nobody seemed to be watching it; each of them eyeing each other to see who would be brave enough to break the tension.
"Guys this is ridiculous. We shouldn't be like this." Candy said.
"She's right, you two can stop fighting now too." Seth pointed out. Ally turned to Austin, who scoffed and looked away.
"Yeah, I don't think so." Ally admitted grudgingly. "But on another note, what's with you and Seth?"
"What do you mean?" Candy asked innocently, though Ally could still see the outlines of hers and Seth's hands intertwined. Ally felt nauseous. When did Seth give up on her and go to Candy? Was she really caught up with Austin that she missed it?
"Don't play dumb with me. I know you inside and out, so spill."
"Well, when you guys were practicing your performance, we were allowed to walk around the site. Kayla stayed with the Chancellor while Seth and I strolled around. I guessed it just happened." She told them, lifting up their joined hands for proof. Seth let go, and wrapped his arm around her. Ally felt a pang of guilt that she didn't even realize that her best friend had gotten someone to love and trust. But all those feelings for Seth disappeared - as if they were never there. She felt happy for them instead.
"I'm happy for you. Don't break her heart." Ally smiled truthfully.
"Same here, don't loose her." Austin put in. Honestly, Austin was glad that Seth and Candy were going out. That meant that Seth wouldn't be after Ally. Though he did feel his heart swell at the sight of the two lovers; he wished he had someone like that - he wished he had Ally. But he couldn't. Not after everything he had said to her. Because of Kelly, his job - he had to give up Ally. Right now, the decision was taking a toll on him. Austin needed to get out before he ruined it all.
"Well thank's for the chit chat, but I have better things to be doing than stay in this rat hole." He spat out, standing up. His heart was smacking him on the inside but he knew it had to be done. Seth and Ally both looked gobsmacked, both thinking he had changed. Candy however stood up too with an expression that could make any child cry.
"I knew it. You haven't changed the slightest. You'll always remain the same viscous, sly, wicked playboy!" She screamed at him. Kayla covered her ears, running up to Ally who covered her protectively from the shouts.
"Well at least I'm not a stuck up bitch who thinks she can wrap an guy around her finger! Please, your just an easy lay!" He yelled back. Austin looked around the room, no guilt traceable before he marched out the room - slamming the door. Everything was silent. Candy had her tough facade on but Ally knew she was breaking inside.
"Seth maybe you should leave right now." Ally told him quietly. He was about to protest when he saw the look on Ally's face.
"Fine, but text me if you need anything." He said. Seth stood up and kissed Candy on the cheek before walking out the room.
"Oh honey." Ally murmured, making Candy sit back down and bringing her into a hug as she started to cry.
