I Am Bulletproof

Chapter Twenty One: A World I'll Never Know

Daryl watched as Carl and Rick helped an unconscious woman into the guard station. Carl was carrying a grocery basket and two katanas. One was black, the other white. He recognized the black one as Andy's and knew something had gone wrong. He'd been anxious ever since Andy left with Glenn and Maggie, and hurried over to see what was going on.

"Who the hell is that?" Daryl pointed to the woman, "And why does she have Andy's katana?!"

"We don't know. Carl saw her with the walkers. The only reason we let her in is because of the formula." Rick said and laid her on the floor. He dribbled some water on her face and she woke up. "How did you find us?"

"And where did you get that black katana?" Daryl aimed his crossbow at her dreaded head. When she didn't answer, Rick had Hershel come in and stitch her wounds. After she had some food and water Rick and Daryl returned to the guard station. Rick had made it clear he didn't want her in the cell block.

It took Daryl all he had not to shake her senseless for any information she could give about what happened to Andy. If he lost her, life would no longer have any meaning. She taugt him how to trust, and rely on others. Because of her, he actually had real friends, people who cared about him. Growing up the way he had, with such an abusive past, he never in his wildest dreams thought he could trust anyone as much as he did Andy. Daryl trusted Merle, but only to a certain extent. His older brother was reckless and often acted on impulse, with no thoughts on the consequences of his actions. This usually got them in trouble and sometimes landed them in jail.
In a way, Andy had saved him from himself.
She was his saving grace, the light at the end of a dark tunnel.

"Come on. Hershel says she's ready." Rick patted him on the back and they made thier way back to the guard station. The woman cooperated and told them everything she knew.

"Do you know who took them?" Hershel asked.

"Yeah, the same son of a bitch who shot me." The woman, who told them her name was Michonne, said and gave more information about the town of Woodbury.

"I say we leave right now. Who knows what sort of sick fucks have them." Daryl all but lost his temper.

"It's too late in the day. You know how dangerous it is out there at night." Rick pointed out. According to Michonne, it was a four hour drive plus another two in walking distance.

"We would have to wait until it was dark to sneak in anyway so why should it matter?! Who knows how much time they have!" Daryl stormed back to Andy's cell. He needed to get to her, make sure she was ok. And kill anyone who so much lay a finger on her. If Andy hadn't already killed her deranged ex-husband he would have; nice and slow, too.

Daryl, Rick, Michonne, and one of the remaining prisoners left the prison as soon as the sun rose. Daryl refused to let go of Andy's katana and strapped it to his back. He'd seen her do it so many times and had no problem adjusting it.
Minutes seemed like hours and Daryl was becoming angrier with each passing second. They should have left the day before! Hershel had been right, though. Michonne could barely walk across the room after her leg had been stitched up, even with the pain meds Julie gave her.
Right before they left, Julie had pulled him aside and asked him to bring her sister back dead or alive. Daryl swore he would and she hugged him. He still wasn't used to hugs, or any type of affection whatsoever.

"We're here. The rest of the way, we'll be walking." Rick told them and Daryl took his crossbow as well as a gun out of the trunk.

He was ready.

|Yes, the last chapter was a pile of steaming poo in my opinion. This one wasn't too bad; I actually kind of liked it. There is going to be a nice surprise coming up.

I'm mad at that fat guy who tried to rape Carl in the butt. Ugh! Can't believe I have to wait until October for Season Five. Anyway, time to start the next chapter. (It's nearly halfway finished!)

Next Chapter: Hate Me Today, Hate Me Tomorrow

Review, Favourite, Enjoy! :)

Oh, five reviews and I'll post the next chapter sooner than when I originally plan to.
