Hey guys MT here!

I'm sorry that I'm so late with this chapter but things kept coming up, or I just got really lazy because winter break started, and I was a bit behind. This chapter isn't going to be a super exciting chapter so don't kill me but read through to the end because I think the end was cool (at least it was in my head)

Anyways ENJOY!

Chapter 20

Saito walked downstairs to find Louise speaking to Tiffa and Agnes.

"Welcome back, Tiffa," said Saito, happily. Tiffa lit up when she saw Saito and she practically jumped on him as she threw herself around him to hug him.

"Saito! It's been so long!" shouted Tiffa, happily. Saito laughed a bit and hugged her back before the two broke from each other.

"Saito," began Agnes. "We performed a count and, in total, all of the Halkeginian kingdoms have 100 ships available but only 72 are battle ready. We also have 500 dragons ready for battle. Her Majesty asked me to inform you in case you had any ideas for a strategy."

"Hm…thank you, Agnes. If I think of something, I'll be sure to let you all know," said Saito, calmly. Agnes nodded and saluted Saito and Louise before leaving the house.

"Saito? What are you doing?" asked Tiffa after finding Saito in his study. Saito was staring at a large sheet of paper which had random drawings and things crossed out. He looked bothered and deep in thought.

"Hm…? Oh! Tiffa, it's you. I'm just going over some strategies I think might work for the number of ships and dragons we have. I had my parents give me a war strategies book from my world since we have had a lot of high scale wars, unlike Halkeginia," explained Saito. He leaned back in his chair and let out a deep, exhausted sigh, eliciting a worried expression from Tiffa.

"Don't work yourself too hard, Saito. It isn't good for you," said Tiffa, worriedly. Saito grinned at her and the two were interrupted by Siesta who had come in.

"Saito, Lord Bidashal sent a messenger to inform you that they had someone infiltrate the Valkyrie country and research some of the technology. They discovered that the Valkyrie do not have any kind of magical weapons that could cause mass destruction. He also said that he would keep you informed," said Siesta. Saito let out a deep sigh in relief and laid his head on the desk.

"Thank gosh…I don't think we could have won if they had a bunch of those kinds of weapons," said Saito, very relieved by the news. "Can you two allow me to plan out a strategy with this new information?"

"Yes, Saito," said Tiffa and Siesta in unison. The two girls left in silence and the door closed behind them, leaving Saito sit by himself in silence.

Sometime later…

Saito sighed in relief after he finished the strategy that he was going to present to Henrietta the next day. He leaned back in his chair and rubbed his eyes with the palms of his hands, tired from sitting for so long. It had been several hours and, when he glanced out the window, he could already see the sun was close to setting. Another day gone by… thought Saito.

"So, Partner, what do you think?" asked Derf from next to the desk. Saito slid his hands through his hair and didn't turn towards his metal friend.

"For what?" asked Saito, plainly, not really having any energy to say it any more enthusiastically.

"War. This will be the largest war Halkeginia has experienced for two thousand years. On top of that, you will be one of the top fighters and practically a general. The Queen and the generals value your input enormously, so anything you say will be taken into consideration," said Derf, calmly. Saito groaned and muttered out a 'Don't remind me' making Derf rattle in his scabbard from laughter. "Hahaha! Partner, I'm tellin' ya right now that I've never had a partner quite like you!"

"Well you only had one other before me, so there isn't much to compare to," said Saito, peaking an eye out from behind his hands.

"Oh, no! I've had 7 partners before you. Only 2 or 3 were notable and actually did something, though. But you're still the most interesting, more so than even Sasha, Brimir's Gandalfr. I mean, you can resist the attacks of beautiful women, you have a heart of steel and a will of fire, and the ferocity of a dragon. I think you could give Sasha a run for her money!" said Derf while chuckling. Saito laughed a bit, as well, pulling his hands from his face. "Plus, I don't think anyone could bring out Gandalfr's power like you could."

"Hm? What do you mean?" asked Saito, a bit intrigued. How could even Sasha, the first and most powerful Gandalfr, not be better than him at bringing out their power.

"Sasha was too calm and complacent, she never let her emotions run loose because the couple times she did she nearly destroyed an area that I'd have to say would be equal to Albion," said Derf. Saito choked on his own saliva and began coughing from the shock of such a statement. Albion is similar in size to the United Kingdom in his world. In order to destroy such a land mass you would need quite a few nuclear explosives just to level it let alone destroy it.

"H-How the hell…? Even Void mage aren't that powerful," said Saito, still shocked.

"You're right, familiars are more powerful. The issue is that releasing all that power damages the natural balance of magic in the world, so both your bodies and the power of the spirits inside you all restrain the amount you can release in a certain amount of time. In truth, though, you seem to release significantly more than normally allowed. I'm not sure why, though. Aside from that you, for whatever reason, are able to use much more Void energy, that is natural in your body from being a Void familiar, and on top of that you use it much more efficiently, like that demonic sword attack you pulled out. You could easily wipe out an army of two or three thousand with one of those. Even Sasha couldn't do something that powerful," said Derf, sounding amazed by Saito's powers. Saito just sat there in awe and looked away while he thought about it.

"Is it because of what my powers are based on? You said emotion was Gandalfr's," said Saito.

"Yes. You have stronger emotions than most of the others. That is what makes a Void familiar strongest, their sources of power being the greatest. For Gandalfr, it is emotion. For Vindalfr, it is willpower. For Myoznitnirn, it is a desire for knowledge. For Lifdrasir, it is love. You and Asuna are capable of unlocking your full powers as Void familiars because you have very powerful emotion and willpower," explained Derf. Saito nodded and then grinned.

"Let's be ready to kick their asses, partner," said Saito with a wide grin.

"Hell yeah! I ain't gonna let them make a fool of us Void weapons or our partners!" shouted Derf, causing his scabbard to clatter around. Saito began to chuckle at his sword's energy and he picked up Derf to head downstairs for dinner.

"So, how long has it been since something like this occurred?" asked Julio as he sat forward in his chair, his elbows on the table and his fingers intertwined in front of his face.

"Mother told me it hasn't happened since before I was born," said Henrietta who was sitting, calmly, in her chair, her posture perfect.

"So we will be forming a permanent alliance from now on, I assume?" asked a darker-skinned man sitting across from them.

"Yes, this is what you all were called for," began Drasnir, elected representative of the elven people. "We are here with the leader of every nation of Halkeginia, along with the land of the elves, to form a permanent alliance to stop the Valkyrie and protect the world from future evils. I believe we should all introduce ourselves. I am Drasnir, one of the most influential members of the elf council and the representative elected to speak for the elven people."

"I am Queen Henrietta, here to represent the people of Tristain and our neighboring duchies."

"I am Julio Cesare. I am the high priest of Romalia and will be representing its people and including the interests of the Great Founder Brimir."

"I am Charlotte Helene Orleans di Galli, Queen of Gallia and the representative of her people during this conference."

"I am Harold Cheshire di Albion. I am the king of New Albion and have come to represent my citizens in this meeting."

"I am Axel Reinhold le Franz di Germania; I am the son of the emperor, Albert the third, and am the representative of Germania in this meeting. Please forgive my father, he is older in age and is currently ill."

"My condolences to the Germanian Emperor. Now let us begin negotiations for the Treaty of Wolfsburg," began Drasnir. "Primarily, how should we proceed with the Valkyrian threat that nears the border of Halkeginia? We of the elfish country allowed them to pass through because we weren't sure how you all wished to proceed."

"We require your assistance in the coming battle because we wish to use a 'pincher strategy' that one of our generals devised," began Henrietta. "She believed that if we could get the enemy in between Halkeginia and the elfish country, we could attack them from two fronts, dividing their attention and therefore weakening them."

Murmurs echoed in the room as people discussed the idea. Generally, the people thought it would be a good idea as they believed their enemies to be nearly a hundred thousand in number.

"What about the Void mage? They have been training with their familiars in your academy of magic, if I am correct," said Axel. Everyone turned to Henrietta and she put on a serious expression.

"Yes, I have heard from my messengers and from the Vallière Void mage that all has been going well and they have already progressed quite far. Currently, Vallière's Void mage has already learned how to use magic in all five of the elements and has been able to combine them but with difficulty. Basically she has reached Pentagon-wizard status. Tiffania, the elfish Void mage, has, as I have been informed, learned how to use 4 of the elements, excluding earth which is difficult for her for some reason, however she has spent time with the elves and learned how to use nature magic which will be a great asset to us. The new Void mage from Albion, Gwendolyn, has excelled due to guidance from her senior and has all but mastered her Void magic. She has also learned wind and water magic and has mastered combining them into more powerful spells," explained Henrietta. Everyone wore happy expressions at the good news and began to chat about the progress.

"I knew it would be a good idea to send Gwendolyn to study with her senior. We couldn't really offer her any help in Albion," said Harold, who looked overjoyed. "She was like a daughter to me, I raised her when my good friend and his wife died. I had taken her in and she was always such a timid child and, when she was blessed with Void magic, she became even more reclusive, feeling that she was strange and different. I'm so happy she was able to be with others like her."

Henrietta smiled at King Harold and was about to say something before Drasnir called for everyone's attention once again.

"Alright then, all is right if their powers have increased. The enemy has a powerful Void mage on their side as well and we will need their assistance in the coming battle. Moving on, what about army strength, how great a force do you all have?" asked Drasnir. "We elves are ready to send 15,000 elfish warriors and 10 ships and 100 dragon knights to fight."

"We of Germania are willing to give 10,000 soldiers, 15 ships, and 100 dragon knights," said Axel.

"Tristain will be able to send 15,000 soldiers and 25 ships but can only spare 50 dragon knights," said Henrietta.

"Albion will send 20,000 strong soldiers, 30 ships, and 100 dragon knights," said Harold, proudly.

"Romalia will have 20,000 soldiers prepared to fight, 10 ships, and 100 dragon knights," said Julio.

"Gallia sends 30,000 soldiers, 20 ships, and 150 dragon knights," said Tabitha. Harold and Julio choked on their saliva at such numbers and coughed, violently.

"A-Amazing," said Harold in awe. Julio nodded and Tabitha sported a small smile at the comical moment.

"Seems that the Valkyrie army will be quite distraught," said Drasnir with a grin.

"They think they can walk into our home and attack it? They will not come out unscathed," said Henrietta, fiercely. "We will wipe them out and protect our homelands!"

Everyone in the room put their fists in the air and roared in agreement before negotiations continued.
