Dylan was walking into the arena with Blark. Denise and Solana were at the other end.
If you completely skipped the last chapter, here's what you missed. Denise, Dylan's ex-girlfriend, visited him in the hospital after Dylan got impaled by a beast, a nickname given by the Choten, who Dylan teamed up with last chapter, for... How should I say... Messed up creatures. So, he got released the next day, and got ready for the tournament. Allie and Ava got eliminated on the fourth day, and the last day in a tag team battle.
Dylan looked at Blark, confident. "You ready?" Dylan asked.
Blark nodded, and readied his gauntlet, and Dylan did the same. Before they reached the entrance to the arena, Jaha walked into the middle.
"Now, before we start, I should tell you people here today that this round is different than most are. For one, it's a 2 vs 2 match, as the combatants already know." she said. "Now, what they don't know is that in this round, the duelists are allowed to make contact with their creatures. This includes riding, blocking attacks heading towards them, and any spells, with the exception of healing spells."
That shocked Dylan. A lot. But it also got him even more syked for the fight, right up until she finished her next statement.
"Now, for two or more combatants, there are some obvious things in this round you are not allowed to do. I don't feel like I have to mention any." Jaha said. "Well, without further adieu, let's introduce our first group of combatants. Gabriel, would you do the honors?" she asked.
Gabe then ran onto the middle of the arena. And I gotta tell you, I had no other way to write this other than to have it sound like a wrestling match, so bear with me here. "To my right, we have the diva duet, Solana and Denise!" he shouted. About half the audience cheered. Although Dylan didn't understand that "diva duet" part, since they haven't actually teamed up at all. Their fighting style was similar, judging by all the matches Denise fought with Truthseeker Forion and Shadeblaze the Corruptor. Solana still has yet to show her second creature.
"To my left, we have the twin devils, Blark and Dylan!" Gabe shouted, and again, half the crowd cheered.
"Thank you, Gabriel. Now, one more thing." Jaha said, as Gabe walked away from the middle. "Each person may only use 1 creature, so choose wisely."
Dylan and Blark instantly knew their creatures, and he bet he knew Solana knew too. He wasn't sure about Denise, though.
"Twilight Archon!" Dylan shouted.
"Patchwork Surgeon!" Blark summoned.
"Shadeblaze the Corruptor!" Denise said. What came out looked like a giant mechanical dragon that stood on two legs.
Solana merely looked at the creatures summoned by Dylan and Blark. "Hmph. Piece of cake." she said. "Andromeda of the Citadel!"
A giant portal opened. The creature that flew out looked like a golden mechanical serpent with 2 legs, 2 arms and giant blue spiked shoulders.
"Isn't that..." Dylan started.
"a high level dragon?" Blark finished.
"Oh, you have no idea." Solana said.
"Alright, Blark, you go for Denise." Dylan said. "I've trained with Solana for a whole month. I know how she fights, and how she's changed over the ten days in the tournament."
Assuming everyone knew Dylan and Denise have dated, Blark probably would have argued. But they didn't tell anyone, so he didn't know that they even knew each other, since they haven't met up since that day in the hospital, which he also didn't know about, so Blark just nodded.
"And, begin!" Jaha shouted.
Andromeda moved quickly, so Archon couldn't keep up, and he ended up getting headbutted in the chest before he could even move. Patchwork Surgeon ran straight for Shadeblaze, with Blark on his shoulder. The difference in power between the two teams was obvious, but they had a plan that they picked up from Ray, Allie and Gabe, which although hasn't worked before for them, might work here. You don't need to beat the creature. You need to beat the duelist.
Archon tried rushing past every chance he got, but Andromeda always blocked him, so he couldn't get to Solana. Dylan tried looking for the Dragon's weak spot, but couldn't see anything. The Dragon looked perfectly built. If it weren't gigantic, he'd have Archon fly over it, but the roof is too close to the ground to do that without destroying part of the road above, or the dojo floor above. He then remembered he could use spells.
"Twilight Archon, teleport!" Dylan shouted, which warped Archon behind the dragon, closer to Solana.
"Clever son of a bitch." Solana said, but just grinned. "Twilight Archon, teleport." she added, warping him back to where he was before. So warping him was out of the question. He was thinking of other spells he could use. He decided to use those later, and just distract Andromeda.
He ran up to it, and rammed it with his shield, which gave Archon the opening he needed to get to Solana. However, Solana copied Dylan, but instead of ramming Archon, she rammed Dylan, letting Andromeda attack Twilight Archon again. So, that didn't work. He decided to just rush her, with Archon at his side.
I shouldn't have to explain why this was a bad idea, but I'm going to. He rushed forward as fast as he could, and although he could get past Andromeda, Archon still got split up by the giant golden dragon. So that's a thing. Instead of fighting Solana head on (which he really should have), he decided to run back over to Archon, shield bashing Andromeda again. He then thought that maybe they could rush her, but Dylan would be riding on Archon instead of running beside him.
That went a little better. Andromeda tried to stop them, but Dylan blocked it with his shield, giving Archon an opening on Solana. He decided to make a downward slice, which she blocked, but he just kept trying while Dylan kept Andromeda off of them. It looked like it was going to succeed. But, let's go back a bit to the beginning of the battle.
Patchwork Surgeon rushed towards Shadeblaze, hoping to cut it with his cleaver, or wrap it in some tentacles. However, Shadeblaze moved way too fast. So fast that it was as fast as Archon. Patchwork was more of a hard hitter than a fast mover, which complicated his actions a lot in this situation. Blark had ideas, though. He got Patchwork to grab his leg and swing him at the mechanical darkness-fire hybrid, while he used his shield to hit it down. It did a lot more than it looked like Archon managed to do against Andromeda. However, the dragon got back up, and punched Patchwork, and the process repeated over and over until Shadeblaze decided to grab Patchwork and throw him at Archon, and they had good timing, as Archon was currently standing still, pushing his swords against Solana's shield, and Dylan was holding off Andromeda. So Patchwork hit Archon, and banished shortly after they stopped touching, leaving just Archon, Andromeda, and Shadeblaze, which was a problem, since Andromeda was barely hurt and Shadeblaze wasn't doing much worse.
This is entertaining. Blue said.
I know. Who do you think's gonna win? Alex asked.
Dylan looked at the two of the creatures that stood before him, and he knew he had to take desperate actions. Since they were allowed spells, he thought he'd go with one he learned in his scroll. Well, two.
"Archon, I need to regain some mana to pull a very risky stunt off, but I don't think we have another choice. Think you can hold them off?" Dylan asked. "It'll only take about 15 seconds."
"That shouldn't be TOO hard, since I got grinded to a pulp in 5 by one of them." Archon said, sarcastically.
"Fine, 20 seconds and I'll help you get away from them." Dylan said. "Sorry, but if I help, it'll take longer."
"With you by my side, I can withstand anything." Archon said, putting Dylan on his back and flying all over the arena.
"What's he doing?" Solana asked.
"I don't know, but it might not be good. We should probably stop him." Denise said, having Shadeblaze punch the wall multiple times, but none of them actually hit Dylan, as Archon either dodged or Dylan used a shield.
"I agree." Solana said, and she had Andromeda do the same thing as Shadeblaze, making it slightly more difficult for Archon and Dylan to either dodge or block.
"Almost done..." Dylan said, as fist after fist punched the walls he was flying around. "Got it. Ok, throw me into Andromeda's mouth."
"What are you planning?" Archon asked.
"Just trust me on this one, ok?" Dylan said. Archon sighed, grabbed Dylan, and threw him like a football into Andromeda's mouth.
"What's he doing in there?" Solana asked.
"I don't know, but he left his creature unguarded. Banish him!" Denise said, still throwing punches. Archon dodged most of them, but a few made contact.
"I'll finish him off." Solana said, but when she tried moving Andromeda, the golden dragon wouldn't move.
"What's wrong?" Denise asked.
"I don't know, it's not listening to me." Solana said. Suddenly, a black foggy dome erupted from Andromeda, banishing it. "What the hell was that?"
"Hey, it worked." Dylan said. "Alright. Now for that creature."
"What's he doing? Shadeblaze, stop him!" Denise commanded. Shadeblaze listened, and was going in for a ounch on Dylan.
"Infinite flow of water..." Dylan started.
"No..." Solana said.
"Compel obedience!" Dylan finished, and he pointed his hand at Shadeblaze, as a mini water tornado shot from it and hit his stomach. Suddenly, it stopped moving.
"Come on, you freaking thing. Listen to me!" Denise shouted.
Dylan, now in control of Denise's creature, just banished it with a simple hand gesture. "So, does that count, or did I break a rule somewhere?" he asked, as he turned to face the masters.
"Um... Give us a moment, Dylan." Jaha said, and she turned to talk to the other masters. After 5 or so minutes, they turned back to face the arena.
"After 5 minutes of consideration, Dylan never actually did break a rule. We allowed full use of spells except for healing spells, which he never used." Isao said. "As for banishment, the rules never said that the banishment had to be by fighting or by forfeit, meaning it could be anything."
"Therefore, the winner of the first ever Kaijudo tournament is Dylan Lunus." Jaha said. Some of the crowd cheered because they wanted him to win, some booed because they thought that he didn't win fairly, and some just stayed silent. Dylan didn't really mind, because honestly, it's the first tournament. Over years to come, they were bound to fix some things, like no spells above a certain level.
Solana sighed, and walked up to Dylan. "That was actually really fun."
"Yeah, it was." Dylan said. "Did you have to bring out the second-strongest creature in the light civilization?"
"I was going to use Andromeda second in the last round, but they only allowed one." Solana said. "Did you even need a creature?"
"I probably would have done better without one." Dylan said. "You know, given past experiences."
"Well, maybe we can battle again some time." Solana said, getting really close.
Why do you have to get all the chicks? Alex asked.
"I... Should probably get going." Dylan said. "Maybe you can stop by my house. It's almost fixed."
"Uhh... Yeah, sure." Solana said, blushing. Luckily, anyone that could see her was too far to notice. Although they did notice everything else.
Dylan walked out of the way, and was immediately stopped by a bunch of people congratulating him, and Blark too, as well as Solana and Denise, just for making it to the last round. After they got passed all of those people, they caught up with Ray, Allie, Rebecca, Ava, Lucy, and Samantha. Gabe was still on duty.
"Hey guys." Dylan said.
"Hey. Where'd you learn to do that?" Allie asked. "We had to learn from a scroll given from mystical creatures that were a myth even here until we found them."
"They were like 4 feet down my scroll." Dylan said, showing the five spells of absolute on his scroll. "Honestly, it was kind of awesome to use them."
"What's this blank space?" Ray asked, point to a spot below the spells of absolute that was fairly large.
"That's a pretty good question." Dylan said. "I haven't notice it before."
"It could just be nothing" Allie said. But as you guys know, nothing that's pointed out in a book is pointed out for no reason... Well, except that glowing fingers thing from chapter 5 or whenever.
"Yeah, you're probably right." Dylan said. "Anyways, I should head back to Aldergrove. I gotta check something."
"Something to do with your house?" Gabe asked, after catching up.
"No, something else." Dylan said. "The outpost broke. Think it's repaired?"
"It might be." Rebecca said. "Why do you care?"
"Not important." Dylan said, and he walked towards the ley lines. "I'll be right back."
"Last time you said that, we didn't see you until the next day." Ray said before Dylan was out of hearing distance.
"Should we follow him?" Allie asked.
"He'll know we're there." Rebecca said. "Just leave him alone."
"I'm with her." Gabe said. "But for different reasons."
"I'm concerned about him." Denise said.
"Why do you care? You just met him." Allie said.
"Yeah... About that..." Denise said.
TO DYLAN WE GO
Dylan walked through the ley line to Aldergrove. On the other side, he saw a semi-destroyed building, the outpost. He looked to the wall where the marking was before. It was still there, somehow. He walked over to it to see if he could get any answers. He put his hand into the wall.
Ah, I see you're back. You seem confused, though. The deep voice said. What is troubling you?
I was wondering what you meant by "the key to my past". Dylan said.
All will be answered when you gather the human artifacts. The deep voice said.
Dylan sighed. He didn't think this would help, but he gave it a shot. He went through the ley line, and headed back to San Campion.
When he arrived, he was greeted by his friends. They looked slightly pissed.
"So, you dated Denise?" Ray asked.
"Yeah. Why would that piss you off?" Dylan asked.
"Why wouldn't you tell us?" Allie asked. "We knew you had an ex, by why is today the first we get a name?"
"Because it's really something I'd like to avoid talking about." Dylan said. "And assuming the person you love got hit by a car, you wouldn't want to talk about it either."
"SHE GOT HIT BY A CAR!?" Ray asked. Dylan shot Denise a quizzical look.
"I didn't tell them EVERYTHING." Denise said. "Honestly, who do you think I am?"
"Whatever. What do we know about the location of the human artifacts?" Dylan asked. Jaha couldn't tell him anything about his past when he asked a week before, so he's going to search for the answers himself.
"Well, maybe you should come with me to talk about that." Gabe said, and they walked over to the monitor room, where the other masters were waiting.
"Ahh, Dylan. You're here." Jaha said. "We have recently found a girl carrying a shield wandering around the nature civilization."
"Sounds promising." Dylan said. "What else do you know about her?"
"She seems to be good friends with Colossus." Kimora said. "Though unlike the others, she isn't searching for you."
"Great, someone who'll actually be a challenge." Dylan said. "Unless you have more information."
"You catch on quick." Kimora said.
"It turns out that the Choten is finding a way to travel through time." Jaha said.
"Wait, is there a spell that can do that?" Dylan asked.
"Well, as a matter of fact, Feral is teaching him a spell that he created himself." Isao said. "If he can perfect it, it can mean disastrous things for us."
"And how much longer do we have?" Dylan asked.
"We don't know. He may already be done." Jaha said. "As for why he's teaming up with Feral and Killer is beyond my knowledge."
Dylan sighed. "Screw the artifact. I'm going to stop him."
AT THE CHOTEN'S SHIP, A FEW HOURS LATER
"What am I doing?" Dylan asked, as he landed on the Choten's ship. He looked around for the Choten, but he wasn't in his usual room.
You know this is basically suicide, right? Blue asked.
I don't care. I have to do this. Dylan said.
No, you really don't. Alex said. What are you trying to accomplish?
I'm going to end that bastard's life. Dylan said.
Dude, there are two clones of you in there, and just yesterday, you had a hole put in your chest. Blue said. How will you manage to kill him?
I'll find a way. Dylan said. After all the misery he put me through, that bastard's gotta pay.
You think you could have brought some help here? Blue asked.
Dylan ignored her, and ran down some stairs.
"Alright, so you're back to being a pest?" the Choten asked over the loudspeaker.
"After all I've been through, do you expect me not to?" Dylan asked.
The Choten sighed. "I was hoping not to have to kill you. The beasts are going to murder me for this, but whatever. Seto, Feral, could you get rid of him?"
"No problem." Seto said, as he ran towards Dylan, fully clad in the artifacts.
"I'll take him on." Feral said, and he ran towards Dylan as well.
"Wow, so unfair." Dylan said, sarcastically.
"I think we can get rid of your confidence pretty easily." Feral said.
Ready for another thousand dollar hospital bill? Alex asked.
Dylan ignored him, and ran up to attack Seto, but Feral blocked him, and Seto kicked him in the nuts.
"AAAAAHHHHHH!" Dylan screamed in pain.
"GET YOUR HANDS OFF OF HIM!" he heard a familiar voice scream, and suddenly someone rushed past him. They were moving too fast to see who, but they knocked Seta and Feral down very easily. When Dylan finally got a good look, he was in for a shock.
"Denise! What are you doing here?" Dylan asked.
"No time. I'll hold them off. You go after the Choten." Denise said. Dylan nodded, and started running.
"Get back here!" Seto shouted, and chased him, but was knocked down quickly by Denise. The same thing happened with Feral.
"So I see you're going to fight me, and leave your girlfriend to fight my men by herself." the Choten said. "How gutless."
"I wasn't going to, but she insisted." Dylan said. "And also, she's not my girlfriend."
"Yeah, sure." the Choten said. "How about I strike you a deal?"
"No." Dylan said. "No more deals. I'm ending this."
The Choten said. "If you wish. But I should probably tell you that I should not be your only target anymore."
"I wasn't referring to you." Dylan said. He finally found the room that the Choten was in, and burst in.
The Choten turned of the loudspeaker. "If you don't mean me, who are you referring to?"
"Believe me, dealing with you is a solid part of my plan." Dylan said.
The Choten chuckled. "You think a little boy such as yourself can stop me?"
"It's happened before." Dylan said. "Would you be surprised?"
"Hmph. Very well. I'll submit." The Choten said, and he turned on the loudspeaker again. Before he could say anything, Dylan jumped on his back. "Feral, I'm assuming you can hear this. I need you to freeze me in time for 6 years!"
"What? Are you crazy!? What are you hoping to accomplish by doing this!?" Feral asked.
"JUST DO IT!" Dylan shouted.
Feral hesitated, but realized there was no arguing. He knew his reasons. "Fine, whatever. But don't blame me if this doesn't work out!" he shouted.
"Alright. Denise, if you can hear me, I need you to tell everyone what happened. Tell them that these last few months were the best I've had in my life." Dylan said. "Tell them... Tell them that they're the best friends I could have asked for!"
He could hear Denise sniffle on the other end. "I'll tell them." Denise said. "Anything for you."
"If that's all, I'd like to freeze you now!" Feral said. "No, really, I turn into a cheesy little bitch and would find much enjoyment in freezing you!"
"JUST GO AHEAD AND DO IT!" Dylan screamed.
Feral nodded, and a camera showed him doing a strange unknown kata. "Five elements, bind this boy in a prison of time!"
Suddenly, Dylan couldn't move his legs. Or his arms.
"What... What is happening?" the Choten asked, with obvious fear in his voice. "FERAL! WHAT DID YOU DO!?"
As Dylan started slipping unconscious, only one thing was on his mind. Don't worry. I'll save you.
Yeah, I'm not done with this. I'm nowhere near done with this. You think that was all? In my mind, I'm just getting started. Anyways, follow, like, comment, ideas, etc. And have a good day.
