Clary Pov
"Fine I'll do it." I stated. Jonathan and Jace whipped around to face me.
"You can't do that Clary. Imagine what they will do to you." Jace said. I was about to tell him there was nothing to worry about, but Jon cut me off.
"Jace is right Clare, you can't. There has to be a better way to get Eden and dad back." Jon pleaded. I let out a sigh and rubbed my temple.
"Jon, I've been given the chance to get both Eden and dad back. Why shouldn't I take it?" I asked. Jon grabbed onto my shoulders and looked me in the eyes. The eyes that are similar to my own.
"Clare, I promise you that we will find a better way to find them. You have to promise that you won't try to take matters into your own hands. Please promise me." Jonathan begged. I could tell that he was on the verge of crying. Jon has been there for me for the longest time. Even when he had chosen our mother over me, I knew that he was still there for me in spirit.
"Please Clare, for me." He pleaded giving me his doe eyes.
"Fine, I promise, but how are we going to find them. That was our only lead." I said frustrated.
"Calm down Clary. I'm pretty sure the police have another lead." Jace said as he laced his fingers with mine. I rolled my eyes at the statement.
"I'm pretty sure if they had a lead, my father and son would be here right now." I spat. The instant that left my mouth I regretted it. I turned towards one of the officers in the room.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean it like that." I apologized. The officer just gave me a small sympathetic smile.
"Don't worry ma'am. I would be upset too." I returned his smile and huddled into Jace's side. All of this is starting to take its toll on me. My eyelids were getting extremely heavy and with every blink, they remained closed longer.
"Hey Clary, you okay?" Jace whispered into my hair. I nodded and buried my head further into Jace's side.
"You should get some rest. I'll wake you up if they find out anything new." Jace said softly. I didn't even get the chance to respond because I fell asleep.
Valentine's pov
I groaned out in pain. I feel like I've been hit by a truck and scarped off the side of the road. I opened my eyes and was met with unfamiliar scenery. The room is a fair sized concrete room. I tried to rub at my eyes to make my vision a bit clearer, but my hands were restrained.
"What the hell?" I groaned. I noticed that I was handcuffed to a metal bar.
"She'll be happy that you're awake." A voice said. I looked up and saw a boy around the age of Clary and Jonathan. For some reason, he looked very familiar.
"What? Who?" I asked. The young man rolled his eyes and walked over to where I was sitting.
"Don't worry. You'll find out soon enough." He patted my head like I was some dog and smiled. Wait a second; I recognized those glasses and curly brown locks anywhere.
"Simon Lewis?" I asked shocked. Simon's smirk fell, but he was able to compose himself.
"Huh, so the old man remembers me." He teased.
"How could I forget, you were Clary's best friend since she could walk." I said still a bit shocked.
"Why the hell am I here? I was nothing but a father to you Simon." I said. Simon just scoffed and crossed his arms over his chest.
"Don't tell me that you, the big shot lawyer, hasn't figured out why you're here." I was about to say something, until he cut me off.
"Trust me, I'm not doing this to get back at you, but your bitch of a daughter." He hissed.
"What did Clary do?" I asked.
"What did she do? All she did was break my heart and shatter it." He said sarcastically. I looked up at him confused.
"What are you talking about? She stood up for you when you got bullied. She was your only friend." I practically yelled.
"Yeah and then she went out like the little slut she is and got herself knocked up." As soon as that sentence left his mouth, I was boiling with anger.
"You listen you here you little rat. It is not my daughter's fault that you couldn't man up and tell her how you felt. That is all on you." I said. He narrowed his eyes at me.
"I can't believe you sticking up for her. She ruined your marriage. Her and that little-."
"Don't you dare finish that sentence." I spat. "My daughter is not a slut. The guy who got her pregnant was a jackass." I said to him. The two of us were locked in a stare down.
"Okay Simon, I think that's enough." A voice said from behind. Is that? No it can't be.
"Jocelyn?"
Clary Pov
"Ms. Morgenstern." An officer called. I sat up for the couch and walked over to the group of officers.
"Did you find out more about my son?" I asked. The officers looked at each other and gave each other a nod.
"We found Eden." As soon as that came out of his mouth, it felt like I could breathe again. "He was dropped off at a fire station about half an hour ago. Some of the firefighters are looking over him right now and will be sending him to the station soon." I wrapped my arms around the officer.
"Thank you so much." I thanked the officer. The officer smiled and patted me on the back.
"Your welcome. We are still looking for your father." At that reminder, my smile fell. I may have my son back, but my dad was still missing. I just nodded and went back to Jace and Jonathan.
"Hey sis, did they tell you anything new?" Jon asked. I gave him a small smile and nodded.
"They found Eden." The two of them let out a sigh of relief. "He was dropped off at a fire station half an hour ago." I said. Jace smiled and gave my hand a reassuring squeeze.
"Wait, did they find dad yet?" Jon asked. I shook my head.
"No, they said that they are still looking for him. I really hope that he's okay." I said.
Simon Pov
I looked up to see Jocelyn leaning against the doorframe with a smirk on her face.
"What the hell are you doing here? I thought you were supposed to bring back the kid?" I asked. At the mention of the little brat, Valentine piped in.
"You have Eden? Where is he? I swear that if you two did something I will-."
"Oh relax Valentine. I dropped the brat off at a fire station." Jocelyn cut him off. Valentine glared at her. She rolled her eyes.
"Unharmed." She said trying to reassure him. She walked over to Valentine and stood right in front of him.
"Why are you doing this Jocelyn? I thought you wanted nothing to do with Clary?" Valentine asked.
"She ruined my marriage. I wanted payback." Jocelyn said viciously.
"Clary is you daughter. She didn't ruin you marriage. You did that all on your own." Valentine spat. Jocelyn placed one hand on her hip and narrowed her gaze.
"I'll make you a deal. I'll let you go, if you give me half a million dollars." At the mention of the money, I turned to Jocelyn.
"What do you need all that money for? That's not apart of the plan." I said. She rolled her eyes at me.
"I need it to get out of the country." She said truthfully.
"What do you mean get out of the country?" I asked. She just laughed and patted my cheek.
"Oh Simon, when they find out that it was us, we will go to jail. I'm getting out of here before they get the chance." She said.
"Is that enough money for the both of us?" I asked. She snorted and rolled her eyes.
"Who said I was taking you along? I only needed you to take care of Valentine and the kid. You can fend for yourself." My eyes widened at the mention of leaving me.
"What? You said that we were in this together. You get revenge on Clary for destroying your marriage, I get back at her for breaking my heart." I said with a slight panic in my voice.
"You know what forget the money. I have another plan." Jocelyn said. I was about to ask her what she was going to do, but everything went black.
