Alternate Legacy ch 21

I don't own Naruto

Naruko could see that gates of Konoha as she and Sakumo make their way along the main path. Sakumo burning a hole in her back with his inquiring gaze, she was liking it more when he was blind to her inconsistencies. Passing through the gates they begin the walk towards Hokage Tower when a frantic Anko lands in front of her. She was about to ask what had the purple hair girl in such a frenzy when Anko slams with her hug!

"Naruko-Nee-chan! You back! Thank Kami!"

"Um… wow, I didn't think you'd miss me that much Anko," Naruko laughs patting the girl on the head. However, Naruko could feel her shirt getting wet, tilting Anko's head up she saw the tears falling down the young girl's face. Gently she pushes the girl away and knelt so they were looking eye to eye. "Anko," She said her voice cracking with worry. "What wrong?"

Anko wipes her tears, but they refuse to stop, "Raiko-sensei, somethings wrong with him, he in the hospital!"

"Raiko's what!"

"I don't know what happened, he completed the mission but when he got back his nose started bleeding and then he fell over and he hasn't woken up since! Minato transported us home as fast as he could but the Doctors don't know what's wrong with him! Not even Lady Tsunade does!"

From inside her mind, Kyuubi spoke, "Oh boy… I saw this coming."

"Saw what coming you damnfox!"

"Just to the hospital, we got to save your primary mate."

"Raiko's not… wait… what did you do!"

"I didn't do anything… well I did, but it's unrelated to this, now go you, stupidgirl!"

"Sakumo report to the Hokage! I need to go check on Raiko." Naruko said in a panic, running away before the White Fang could retort, dragging Anko along with her. "Anko take me to him."

"I guess I'll just have a private talk with the Hokage, then," Sakumo mumbles heading for the tower. Hopefully, after the mission report, the Hokage would have time to hear him out.

Landing in front of the hospital Naruko follows Anko's directions to Raiko's room. Once at the door she tells the Genin to stay outside. Placing a seal on the door to keep others out. With a whirlwind of emotions, she approaches her friend's bed. Worry etched on her features, but still angry for what he did to her memories.

"Hey, wake up." She said shaking him, her voice hoarse. "I said wake up! I'm… I'm very angry at you right now. You have some explaining to do! Why did you alter my memories! Did you think I couldn't take it! I said wake up!"

"Try kissing him."

"This isn't a fairytale Kyuubi!"

"Says the girl with a demon fox in her belly, who is a time traveler. Also, when you do it, use my chakra."

"What are you scheming fox?" Naruko demands, but none the less calls upon Kyuubi's chakra. Just enough to turn her eyes red and her whisker marks to become more pronounced. Such a small amount wasn't enough to get any unwanted attention. Titling Raiko's head she puckers her lips, licking them anticipatingly. "I just need to kiss him?"

"That's what I said, it's not like you need to tongue him, but if you want to that's fine. It'll have the same effect."

Growling Naruko leans down, pressing her lips against Raiko's. There was a jolt of energy as their lips met. Not the lovey-dovey energy like in romance novels, which she differently didn't read and didn't have a whole series locked away in a scroll under her bed, but real chakra energy. Like Kyuubi's energy. She felt her consciousness slip as she fell on top of Raiko, their lips still locked as more of Kyuubi's chakra leaves her and flows into Raiko.

"What are you doing Kyuubi!"

"Fixing your boyfriend," Kyuubi growls.

Raiko's eyes open and he presses against her kiss, his arms snake around her waist pulling her closer. Naruko loses herself the passion and then realizes two hands were touching her ass! She breaks the kiss straddling Raiko's waist as she twists around to see that Raiko's furry red fox arm was back! Also, Raiko's eyes were red!

"Kyuubi!" Was all Naruko could growl as her own feral passion overtakes her. Her jacket hits the floor as Raiko firmly grabs her hips and resumes kissing her. Next goes her shirt. Raiko's teeth biting her nipple was the last thing she remembers before everything goes blank.

One hour later, Konoha Hospital, Raiko's room

"Oh, fuck what happened?" Raiko moans sitting up in bed, a bit surprised to find himself back in Konoha and… shirtless, pantless… the hell? "Since when is this hospital regulation? He leans over the side of the bed finding his hospital clothes carelessly discarded on the floor. When he leans down to pick them up his hand slips and he catches himself with his other… hand… what?

With wide eyes, Raiko turns around to see that his stub has once again grown a new arm. A red furred fox-like arm. Holding that arm was a naked Naruko, her eyes flutter open revealing blood red eyes, she giggles and nuzzles herself against his body, mewing like a newborn cat or maybe fox was more accurate. Did foxes mew? That didn't matter. What did matter is… is… what did matter?

"Hey, Naruko, snap out of it!" He hisses summoning some tree spikes from his fingers. His demon arm began burning with the activation of his bloodline, the arm withers becoming a mess of fur and bones as it detaches from his body. Around his stub, he saw bubbles of red chakra. Now he was really concerned. "Wake up!" He pokes Naruko with the wood spikes, snapping her out of her demonic state. She looks up at him, then to herself, and then slowly crawls out of the bed and picks up her clothes. Unable to meet his eyes.

"I um… ah… I'm going to get dressed." She said holding her bundle of clothes tight against her chest.

He realized he was staring and looks away, "Right, um, could you find my clothes?" He asks pulling the blanket to cover up. "I'd rather not wear hospital clothes."

"Sure, I'll look after I dress." Naruko scurries into the bathroom. Raiko awkwardly drums on his knee as he waits. Already missing his fox arm. He creates a wood arm, but it's not the same he had to think about what he was doing with it, much like a puppeteer. Putting his hands together he goes through hand seals, his wood hand awkwardly creating the seals. After a minute of that, he gives up and goes through single hand seals, the movement much more fluid. "Here you go." Naruko, now fully dressed, lays his clothes on the bed.

"Thanks," He tries to pick up the clothes with both hands, but the effort to use his wood arm was hard outside of combat. In battle, he could almost instinctively use his wood arm sometimes, but when he tries to use it for mundane things he couldn't make it work right, he wasn't a puppeteer after all. He couldn't manipulate his chakra strings like they were nerves. Kankuro had his respect. He pauses, confused by the name. "Naruko."

"Yeah?"

"Do I… um we know someone by the name of Kankuro?"

"Of course, he's Gaara's older brother, silly! From Suna." Naruko laughs, thinking Raiko was playing a joke. Her smile flatters when she sees the confusion on her friend's face. "Raiko, what's wrong?"

Raiko scratches his head, grimaces in pain, "Nothing, it's just whose Gaara? Also, Aren't we at war with Suna right now?"

Horrified Naruko takes a step back, "You're joking right? You remember Gaara, right? He was like me, he's like a brother to me!" Raiko shakes his head. "Ok, what about Lee? Rock Lee? The one that looks like Gai-sensei."

"Gai is a Genin, Naruko, is this… Rock Lee his little brother or something?"

Naruko covers her mouth with her hands, her breathing frantic as tears stream down her face, "No, Kami, no," She mutters. "You remember, don't you?" She cries. "You remember them, Sakura, Hinata, Ino, Kiba, Shino, Shikamaru, Choji, Neji, fuck Sai and Sasuke? Don't you… don't you remember any of them?"

Raiko looks at her strangely, "Are they friends or something? Did we meet them recently?"

"He doesn't remember any of the Konoha 11!" Naruko gasp with horror. "Ok, what about Kakashi-sensei?"

"Kakashi is nine, Naruko. He's an impressive ninja, but he's a bit far from being a sensei. He is talented though, isn't he a chunin? Sakumo must be proud." He laughs pulling on his shirt. "Um Naruko, could you give me some privacy? Your… hey, are you ok? Why are you crying?"

Naruko wipes her tears, but they simply continue to fall. "You've forgotten. You forgot all your friends! Tell me, when were you born, who are your parents?"

"My parents?" Raiko frowns, "You met my parents, their Jiraiya and Tsunade, are you sure you're not the one that needs to be in the hospital bed? What happened to me anyway? I was on a mission with Minato and the kids, right?"

"Your birthday Raiko, when were you born?" Naruko demands, making him frown, she was really acting crazy.

"October 21, after the second Shinobi war."

"The third, you were born after the third Shinobi war," Naruko corrects.

"Naruko, we're in the third Shinobi war right, now. Seriously are you ok?"

Inside her mind, Kyuubi rumbles, "Give it up Kit, it finally happened, he's integrated into the timeline. You'reprobably not going to last much longer." Naruko ignores him, desperately clutching Raiko by the shoulders.

"What about Pein? Tobi? Danzo? Madara? You have to remember what they did! They destroyed the village, killed our friends, they destroyed everything! That's why we came back! We're from the future! Remember?"

Raiko clutches his head, his face in pain as his veins become more pronounced. "Madara…" He growls in a deep hate-filled tone. Blood starts to drip from Raiko's eyes and nose, the medical machines start to go haywire, making a loud ear-piercing scream! Raiko's face contorts in pain and anger. "Madara… Danzo…"

"That's right! Remember! Remember Raiko!" Naruko cheers.

Images of a man with the sharingon flash through his mind. The bodies of many dead shinobi, from all nations, lay scattered about, their faces blurred, he knew them. He knew he knew them, but he couldn't remember their names or faces. He looks around the burning wasteland, the feeling of horror in his heart. He sees the man gripping Naruko by the throat, a blade posed to kill her. A sudden pain in his cheek snaps him back and he was in the hospital bed again, Naruko standing beside him with red eyes.

"Kyuubi," He growls taking his hand away from his face, it was covered in blood. "What's happening to me."

"You two changed enough of the timeline for it to have an effect," Kyuubi spoke through Naruko's voice. "Your memories are changing so they make some sense. Saving Sakumo had a bigger effect then I originally thought. Try not to recall the future too hard, your only human, remembering two different timelines isn't possible for your kind."

"What about Naruko?"

"She'll probably be fine for the time being. Thanks to me she'll be less affected for a bit longer than you, but that'll change the closer we get to her birthday. Till then the only thing that's for certain is the end result. Everything between now and then is in flux."

"We changed the future but the result is still the same huh?" Raiko chuckles. "I guess that means we'll need to start making some waves." He shakes his head. "Bring Naruko back. I need to talk to her. I assume she heard everything?"

Kyuubi nods, "She also has some choice words for you. Though I doubt you can clearly remember. Course if you willing to suffer some brain trauma you can probably recall the event she's upset about. I would advise both of you do talk about this now or forget it because after today you probably will."

"Fine by me, by the way, what did you do to me?"

Kyuubi chuckles as he lets his control of Naruko slip, "I'm just giving myself some insurance. It's the least you two can do for using my chakra for your little jutsu." With Kyuubi's presence gone, Naruko returns to the front of her mind, the switch leaving her dizzy. Using his wood arm Raiko stretches it out on pulls a chair from the other side of the room for Naruko to sit on.

"Thanks," Naruko says holding her head. "I hate it when he does that." She looks at him, her gaze intense, but softening by the minute, her worry overriding her anger at him. "I'm mad at you. You sealed away my memories, bad ones, but you still did it. But I guess you don't remember that, do you?"

"Not really," He sighs looking Naruko straight in the eye. "But I'm not apologizing. Right or wrong, I did what I thought was the right thing at the time."

"That's all you have to say?" Naruko snaps. "You sealed away my memories of when I was Danzo's assassin! Yes, they weren't great, but that doesn't mean I want to forget and everyone pretends it didn't happen!"

"Technically it didn't happen given the timeline flux."

Naruko seethes, "That's not the point! What makes you think you had the right to that!"

Raiko closes his eyes, inhaling and exhaling slowly. "I don't, but you know, just because I forgot the future, it doesn't mean I've forgotten the past. My memories, our memories from childhood are all still here in my head. The details are little different, but I remember running away from my parents after their constant fighting. I remember meeting you and helping you slip away from the village. I remember the little house I made with my wood release and how we lived in it for months before my dad found us. I remember looking at your big blue eyes when my dad came, the fear you felt, the fear that we were going to be separated. And I remember vowing to try and keep you from suffering as much as I could. So yes, I altered your memories, did I have the right or permission? No. I feel I would do it again if I thought it necessary. Because I…" Raiko bit his lip, running his hand through his hair. "Because I love you Naruko. You can hate me for what I did, but I'm not going to apologize, I thought it was the right thing to do at the time."

"You're a Baka," She mutters, her shoulders shaking as tears freely fall. "You're a fucking Baka! Just like your dad! Doing things behind my back because you think I can't take it. I remember I everything I did well under Danzo's control. I remember the people I killed. They died for stupid reasons. They weren't threats to the village or our friend, they were just people Danzo thought could be threats to him. I remember afterward when you freed me. I pathetic I was, sitting in my bed moping about things I couldn't change. You could have come in given me a pep talk, told me it was time to look ahead again, it was the past and I couldn't change it. But no, you messed with my mind! Just like he did! And the worse part is, even right now, as I'm absolutely pissed at you, I still love you."

Raiko said nothing, instead, he pulls Naruko into a hug, she struggles at first beating on his chest with her fists. He holds her tighter. Softly cooing and patting her back, like he should have done the first time. Pulling her back onto the bed He lays the sheets over Naruko and crawls out of the bed. She was asleep, exhaustion overtaking her. He brushes her bangs, muttering, "I'm sorry."

Pulling on the last of his clothes Raiko exits the room, finding Anko sitting on a chair outside. She runs up to him hugging his waist.

"Raiko-sensei! You're alright!" Anko peers around him, spotting Naruko, "Is something wrong with Naruko-nee-chan?"

"She's just resting." He smiles ruffling her hair. "Why don't you go in and sit with her. I have something I need to do."

"Ok, what's that?"

"I gotta talk to the Hokage is all. Don't worry. I'll see you around."

Hokage Tower

"Raiko, I'm glad to see your doing better," The Hokage said joyfully. "You had us worried when Minato returned carrying you on his back." Hiruzen looks around the room. Jiraiya and Tsunade with them. "Is there something you wish to discuss? If so please be quick, I am rather busy after all."

"Same here, not that I mind spending time with you, but I have a hospital to run," Tsunade grumbles while in her surgery outfit, fresh blood still on her clothes. Next to her was Jiraiya who was strangely silent, his right hand scratching his left irritably.

Raiko makes the sign for silence and points to the ceiling.

"I see that matter. Please proceed."

Taking out a scroll Raiko unrolls it, the seals written inside shoot out appearing all over the walls, completely securing the room from unwanted all eyes and ears.

"There has been a development," Raiko says. "Regarding the future."

"The same could be said about the present. Sakumo had some curious questions regarding Naruko's origins. Seems some uncomfortable questions were raised on their last mission."

"I wouldn't worry about that too much, given what will or probably has happened."

"And what's that son?" Jiraiya asks, his curiosity peaked.

Raiko takes a breath, "Before Naruko and I have said our memories of the future were disappearing." The three nod. "Well as of today after awakening from my seizure let's just call it, I can't recall most of the future, save for the fact it turns out like shit, so that hasn't changed yet. What has changed is my memories of the past and if I'm right. Your three memories might be affected as well. An example. How old were you when I was born mother?"

"I don't know I haven't given…" Tsunade clutches her head in pain. "I was… sixteen… seventeen maybe? What? And… I… oh my Kami I had sex with Jiraiya!"

"I had sex with Tsunade! Wahoo!" Jiraiya said suddenly! "I remember it so clearly! Her boobs just started getting bigger! And I… I…holy shit I got Tsunade pregnant! I remember! Right after the war, when her brother died. And we were traveling around a lot? What? I don't remember doing that at that age… and sorry to bother you guys, but have I always had this ring on my finger?" Jiraiya held up his left hand, showing off a golden ring. Tsunade did the same, revealing a matching ring. "Holy Kami in heaven! We're married!"

Hiruzen scowls, "Of course your married! I did the ceremony myself! Wait… did I?"

Raiko nods, "That's what I thought, our two times are mending together, trying to making everything sensible. As you two can probably tell, Mom, Dad, our pasts have synced. Even you are affected Lord Hokage. Do you suddenly find yourself with… different memories? Of two events but one gets harder and harder to remember?"

Hiruzen nods, "Yes, I am. I remember marrying Tsunade and Jiraiya. I even remember being there when you were born, it's foggy now, but when I try to remember that I didn't do any of those things its get fainter and fainter in my mind the more I think about it."

"Same here," says Jiraiya. "I am remembering my honeymoon now," He says with a leering grin. "Wait, if Tsunade and I are married, what happens to Dan?"

Raiko shrugs, "Can't say I really care, he's either with some else, alone, or dead or about to die. It's kind of out of our hands at this point what happens to him. More importantly, we need to focus on what needs to be done to change the crappy future Naruko and I came from. To do that certain people need to die, sooner rather than later.

The Hokage's eyes harden, "I see, and where is Naruko?"

"Right here," Naruko said, suddenly appearing in the room. She casts glare towards Raiko, "Someone left me in his hospital bed." The sound of pen on paper fills the room. "Are you seriously writing this down for your book sensei!"

"Right, right, not the best time," Jiraiya says putting away his notebook.

"Back on track here," Raiko says, glancing at Naruko. Who eyes him back, both signaling they'd settle this at home. "Long story short and you'll have to take a leap of faith when I say this… Danzo and Madara Uchiha need to die."

"They are 90% of our problems in the future," Adds Naruko as the room goes silent.

"Madara Uchiha is alive?" Tsunade gasps. "But my grandfather defeated him!"

"Defeated, not killed." Raiko retorts. "But yeah, we have to kill him and his followers. Danzo… well, he's just walking trouble. I'm not sure if there is any point it matters if he dies, but the sooner the better."

"As much as I'm displeased with Danzo, we are in the middle of a war and his Root forces are an asset to us."

He knew the Hokage to say that "Then after the war or just towards the end. Trust me Lord Hokage. He will be the rot that brings down the great tree that is Konoha. He thinks he's helping Konoha, but we don't need his kind of help. I cannot even begin to tell you the list of enemies we had to face because of Danzo."

"The sound ninja, Sasuke Uchiha, Pein, Orichmaru, the Uchiha rebellion. Itachi and many, many, others." Naruko lists sounding exhausted.

The Hokage and two Sennin blink, that was a long list. Hiruzen coughs, clearing his throat. "I'll need more concrete evidence than just your word as for going after Danzo, but as for Madara Uchiha. I'll leave the matter two you two. That is if you can take on such a legendary shinobi yourselves."

"Just as long as he doesn't resurrect himself, we can," Naruko mutters. "Oh yeah, one more thing, Sakumo…"

"I know, he's asking questions," The third answers. "What do you two want to do about it?"

Raiko looks to Naruko, who looks back, he relents, "I'll leave that up to Naruko." He says bitterly.

"I want to bring him into the loop. He's a walking paradox now, alive when he should be dead. So, the more he hangs around us, the more it might change the future, for the better hopefully." She smiles. "Also…" Now she looks to Raiko again. "I was thinking maybe we could tell my parents? Please?"

Raiko gives her one look and even with her big puppy eyes, he answers, "No."
