Talk about long time no see, went back read the whole story. Changed the ending to this chapter a little bit because the way it was worded just didn't sound right. But man has it been awhile. Hope you enjoy if you do review if you don't whelp still review and tell me how much you hate it. :)

All three of the rather larger than normal men walked the distance from the door to the waiting area in somewhat of a quick fashion. Once they made it to the waiting area Barbie hopped up from her seat spotting the three almost immediately. Barbie went right into the arms of her father allowing him to wrap his arms around her tightly.

"What happened Babygirl?" Her father asked her.

Barbie shook her head against his chest. "It's all my fault. I was talking to him and his machines just starting going crazy."

"No, sweetheart it's not your fault. I'm going to go find a doctor and see what's going on. Are you going to be okay?" Steve asked pulling away to look at the blonde. Barbie didn't respond just nodded as she used her sleeve to wipe some of her tears. Steve sighed turning away from her and walking down the hall looking for the doctor's office. Barbie looked to Roman and he wrapped his arm around her nudging her to the couch and making her sit.

She wrapped her arm around his waist and he rubbed her back letting her lean against him. "Come on Blondie I'm sure he's going to be okay."

Barbie just shook her head against his chest. "I wish people would stop telling me that."

Roman chuckled. "Well what else are we supposed to say?"

Barbie sighed she really didn't see the humor in the whole situation. "I don't know. I just wish I had some real answers. Like when he's going to wake up. If he's going to wake up." Barbie mumbled the last part, knowing that Roman would be on her case if she wasn't positive like she was supposed to be.

"I know this is hard for you, it's hard for all of us. And because we don't have any real answers we have to remain positive and hope for the best." Barbie sighed dropping her head to rest against his abdomen.

"I'm going to go get a drink." Dean said standing to his feet and leaving the waiting area without waiting for a response.

"What's wrong with him?" Barbie asked.

Roman shrugged,"Who knows, it is Dean were talking about."

"Yeah I guess your right."

"So how are you guys?" Roman asked adjusting his position on the couch.

"What do you mean?" Barbie asked innocently quite frankly she didn't really want to talk about this right now considering Dean could walk back around the corner at any moment.

"Come on Blondie, you and Dean?"

Barbie sat up looking at Roman,"There is no me and Dean. There's me and then there's Dean. Two separate entities. And besides weren't you the one who told me he wasn't stable enough to have me in his life?"

Roman couldn't help but glare at the young blonde. What was it about women and bringing up past events? "Yeah, but that was a month ago. And he hasn't been the same lately. He's been down and more down than usual. I don't know if it was anything you did or maybe just being in your presence but he was a lot more chipper 2 months ago."

What was it about men and sending mixed messages? One minute he was a threat and she should stay away from him, but now she was the key to happiness? None of this was making any sense to her. She did miss Dean he brought a certain spark into her life that she was regretting letting go of. On the other hand Randy had been with her through this whole thing while Dean had seemingly abandoned her when she was at her lowest. She was sure this whole situation was hurting him also, but he hadn't talked to her or asked for her assistance through it and assumed he was fine without her. But now Roman was telling her otherwise.

"Well what do you propose I do?"

Roman didn't plan on having this conversation right now, so he didn't exactly have a response. He just shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know, talk to him see what's going on. He's been avoiding talking about his feelings with the whole Seth thing and maybe you can get him to open up."

"Please tell me your joking. "Open up", I can't even get him to admit he likes me. How in the world do you think I can get him to talk about his sadness."

Again Roman shrugged his shoulders not having a prompt answer. "Bribe him with sex, maybe that's it maybe he's just sexually frustrated. With everything that's going on I doubt he's had time to find a girl." Barbie responded to his comment by punching him in the arm. "Ow, what was that for?"

"For being a guy, I'm not going to have sex with him just to get him to talk." Barbie said with a giggle.

Roman rubbed the spot where she had punched him before responding. "It was just a suggestion." He mumbled.

Barbie was about to respond, but before she got the chance Dean walked up holding a can of Coke. Both Barbie and Roman looked up at him wondering if he had heard any bit of their conversation, but if he had they were sure he would have addressed them by now.

"Did I do something?" Dean asked looking at the duo.

"No, but Barbie here was just wondering if you could take her back to her apartment she uh thinks she left her uh stove on." Roman said before Barbie could stop him from talking.

"And why can't she drive herself?" Dean asked with a raised eyebrow. He knew the two were up to something. He wasn't sure what, but he knew it was something.

"Because she forgot to fill up her tank. Yeah, used the last drop of gas she had getting here." Barbie couldn't help but look at Roman with a confused look which he just shrugged off. She knew he was trying to help, but none of his story was making sense.

"Okay let's go." Barbie looked at Dean surprised. She didn't expect him to believe such a bogus story, but she guessed he wasn't in the mood to contemplate. Barbie stood up glaring at Roman once Dean had turned his back.

"Your so dead." She whispered.

"Love you too." Roman said with a chuckle and a wave.

"Since I'm almost positive Roman's story was 100% bullshit, why is it that you needed me to give you a lift here?" The car ride had been awfully quiet. The only sounds were their breathing and the radio which seemed to be playing weird folk lore music, but Barbie didn't dare change the station as it seemed Dean was rather into it. Also she didn't want to break the silence by asking to change it. But now that they were out the car and in her apartment he seemed ready and willing to talk.

"I don't know what your talking about." Barbie said playing dumb. She walked into the kitchen pretending to check the stove before turning around only to come face to face with Dean. "Well looks like were all good and we can head back to the hospital." Barbie said trying to step past him, but he stepped to the side blocking her path.

"What were you and Roman talking about?" He asked crossing his arms.

"Nothing." Barbie said again trying to step past him and again he blocked her way.

"You can avoid the subject all you want and we can do this all night." Dean said raising an eyebrow. "Or you can tell me what's really going on. Your choice."

Barbie sighed running her hand through her hair she didn't doubt that Dean was willing to do this all night, but she also didn't want to come right out and tell him because somehow she knew it would end in an argument and at this point he was her only way back to the hospital. "Roman, he uh he's worried about you and he thought maybe that you'd open up and talk to me."

Dean could help but laugh sarcastically. "Wow you know that's just like Roman sticking his nose where it doesn't belong."

"He cares about you Dean and he's just trying to help." Barbie said sympathetically she didn't understand how he could mistake Roman's care for anything else.

"The last thing I want right now is people trying to help me." Dean said sternly.

Barbie looked away pondering her thoughts. "Your right, it's not what you want but maybe it's exactly what you need."

"Excuse me?"

"Roman cares about you, my brother cares about you, I care about you Dean. We all care about you and it's okay to let us in and to let us help you. We all get lost and off course at some point in our lives. Sometimes we need help to find the our way again and that's okay. That's what friends and family are there for, to help you and to care about you." Barbie took a step towards him but all he did was step away from her. He turned his back to her and ran a hand through his hair and down his face.

Why? Why did she have to say things like that? Why did she have to make him feel this way whenever she was around? "Dean please talk to me." Barbie spoke softly she hesitated but stepped towards him and wrapped her arms around him resting her head against his back. He became tense at her touch but softened and she heard him sigh.

"Her name was Jessica, but people rarely got away with calling her that. She hated it. Said it reminded her of her parents who were assholes." Dean said with a slight chuckle remembering the day that met. "We met at this bar, we were both too young to be there but no one cared. God she was beautiful and feisty as hell. She had an attitude, like she didn't give two shits what anybody thought of her. We started talking and we had a lot in common." Dean turned to face Barbie as he pulled away from her embrace to lean against the counter behind him and crosse his arms. "Both had fucked up families we had to get away from, both made too many mistakes to count. We started dating and she was my whole world. We fought a lot, but I knew it was only because she cared. I was in some stuff that she didn't like and she worried about me all the time. We were dating for a couple months but it felt like I'd known her forever. We were perfect for each other. At the time, Roman and Seth were the only people I had that even remotely resembled family at the time so I wanted them to meet her." Dean raised his eyes from the ground to look at Barbie, he wasn't sure how she was going to react to the truth, but there was no denying that he had to tell her. He was so sick of keeping it all in his emotions, his fears, everything. Sure Roman had been there to listen to him, but he never wanted to seem weak or fragile in front of his brothers especially in the business they were in.

He wanted to be able to share it himself with someone who would comfort him and not judge him. Someone who would hug him and tell him that it was all going to be alright. That is was okay to have feelings and to want to get them off his chest. And in his eyes Barbie was that person and she had been for a long time he was just too blinded by his own go and self destruction to truly see what she was worth. But now standing in front of her spilling his heart to her, he no longer cared about the big secret.

"Barbie there's something I think you should know." Dean said taking a deep breath.

"What is it?" Barbie asked knitting her eyebrows together not exactly sure why he would pause in the middle of his reminiscences of such a happy time in his life.

"Roman, Seth, your dad, and I to put it in simple terms were drug dealers." Dean said slowly watching as her expression went from worried to fearful.

"Wh-what?" She asked completely at a loss for words. She knew they were into something, but never in her wildest dreams would she have thought it was drug related. Never would she have thought her brother and her father could get mixed up in something she herself found so dangerous. But it all made sense now. Why her dad had to "go away". Why they never told her anything. Why Seth, Dean, and Roman always seemed to be going out at late hours. Why each of them seemed to have well rehearsed responses when it came to where they had acquired their injuries. But most importantly it explained why Seth was shot. "Is that why Seth-"

"Yeah." Dean answered simply allowing her to process the information.

This was too much for the blonde to handle. How could her family be tied up in something like this and not tell her. How could they put themselves in such a dirty and life threatening business and not think how the backfire could effect her.

"Barbie, I know you feel like they lied to you or that you would have been better off knowing the truth. But that's just not true, them not telling you was for your own protection. Your safety and well being was always their main priority." Dean said pushing himself off the counter to step closer to the blonde.

Even if that was their intention, it obviously hadn't worked out as planned. Her brother was lying in a hospital bed and she spent the past month in the dark about what happened. Just ponding if it was some random act of violence or who was she to blame for what happened, but all along they all knew exactly what had happened and this just made her irate.

"Were you guys ever going to tell me?" She paused holding her hands against his chest preventing him from getting to close to her. "What if Seth never got shot, would you all just have kept this little family secret from me forever?"

"Barbie, you don't understand okay. You not knowing you not being involved it was for the best."

"You don't get to decide what's best for me or my life. No one ever stopped to ask what I thought, so how the hell would any of you know what was best for me?"

"You just don't get it, this isn't some high school gossip. This is real fucking life, okay. It isn't something you just go around telling people. That's how people get hurt, that's how Jess how got hurt. Because I was a selfish bastard, and I didn't stop to think how this life I was leading would effect the people I care about. I bought Jess there that day to meet Roman and Seth. Next thing I know, bullets are flying. One minute we were talking and the next Jess is lying on the floor bleeding out. I ran to her and I tried to stop the bleeding I tried to-." Dean stopped, he ran both his hands down his face he hadn't told this story to anyone ever and just recalling the events was causing his emotions to jump around. "I loved her, I loved her so fucking much. But I never got the chance to tell her. She was gone just like that and it was all my fault."
