This chapter is a little mix of things, Lily comes to visit them, Barney wants to buy a new place to live and finally Robin's pregnancy. So, if you are a little confused don't be I will explain more about her pregnany in the next chapter and then months leading up to the birth of B/R's first born. And, yes they have 2 kids just like Robin imagines
"So, how's everything going with Robin?" Lily asked, she stopped by to see Barney and Robin after being busy for a few days.
Ever since their lives changed, the group has been scattered in different places. With, Marshall and Lily in Long Island, Ted and Tracy in Westchester and Barney and Robin in the city it hasn't been like the old days. Robin and Lily barely get to see each other, in fact none of the gang get to hang out like they used to so it's nice that with the few times they get to spend together. Lily and Robin usually spent it together, but today Robin had canceled their lunch because she was feeling ill and she didn't feel healthy enough to go out. When Lily came to the door it was Barney who answered the door.
Now, Barney and Robin aren't living in the Fortress they had moved after they remarried but they are still living in the city on the Upper East Side. The bigger place is much more spacier than the fortress and with a baby coming the new place is much more fitting for the family.
Two weeks after the wedding!
It was more of a buy on a whim but it wasn't too expensive for him. Barney has always been a splurger, when he was still single buying things on a whim or the thrill of a purchase was fun and spending money with how much he was paid, felt like the only thing that kept him feeling a live. Like, buying a big screen TV or the Stormtrooper and of course suits and ties. But, buying things was a way for him to forget about being alone. Making the money he makes and spending it was the only joy he felt for along time, being single (he must admit now after all this time thinking finding love wasn't going to happen for him) but it did and back when he was single it was the only thing keeping him alive. But, now that's all changed because of Robin and thinking back on those single days it really makes his eyes more open and hopeful than how he felt back when he was single and searching.
He would never admit it to anyone but he hated being single. He wasn't sure if he could truly make himself feel love for anyone and he closed his heart to falling in love with anyone along time before he met Robin. But if it wasn't for her truly and wholeheartedly loving him back and realizing that he really does want the things he never thought he would have or be able to give to anyone.
But, buying something on a whim now hasn't been something he did in quite sometime. Until now!
"Robin, come here and check this out." He shouted out from the bedroom wanting her to come see the new townhouse he wants to buy for him and for them. He hopes that she likes it, he knows this is something they hadn't talked about yet but this had been on his mind since after they married the first time.
"What, what are you looking at?" Robin says entering their bedroom seeing Barney sitting on the bed with the laptop on his lap.
"I am looking at a new place to live. It's really a nice spacious place and it's in the city." He says excitedly with a hopeful smile on his face and that look he gets when he wants something. She knows that look all too well and it always get her in trouble or them in trouble.
"But, you said you didn't want to leave the fortress." She knows that before they got married they discussed this, she wanted him to sell the fortress but realized that it has been his home for along time and he loves the apartment he's lived in since he was 25. She gave in and let him keep the apartment because she loves him enough to understand that apart of who he is, is in this apartment. Apart of the man she loves, loves his apartment so she accepted loving it too because it was useless to fight over something you love just because she was being selfish and only thinking of this place her husband to be used to bang so many chicks in. But, realizing her selfish attitude about something Barney loves so much was her being jealous of all the girls he's had banged in this very apartment.
"Yes, but now I realized I just didn't want to give up something I loved over pleasing you and back then I was being selfish and not putting your wants and needs above my own. But, since then I come to realize that as much as I love this apartment, I love you more and now that we're back together I thought it would be nice to have a fresh start. So, I had been thinking, and this has been for a while, since our first wedding. That it's time to give this apartment up and move to a new place to make the new life I have with you feel permanent." He hopes Robin likes this idea, moving out of this apartment is hard for him but he truly wants to make this new life with Robin have something new to add to his new happy life with the love of his life.
Robin is giving him this look of sadness, she never expected for him to want to give up his beloved Fortress and actually feels a little sad for him even when he looks so hopeful and willing to give up something he loves for her.
"Also, I know how much you want to make a new life with me. I just want to make you happy and maybe moving to a new place will make our lives better." She looks at him then goes to sit next to him on the bed to look at the apartment on the computer.
"Wow, this is a really nice place but I don't think we need anything that big since we aren't having kids." Robin will come to regret those words but not in the sense that she doesn't want to have kids with Barney it's just she can't and that's the thing that makes her feel like maybe something is missing in Barney's life and this is why he wants to get a new place to live.
"I know that, I just think it will be a fresh start to our life together. It would make us being together forever means something more." She smiles at that, it would nice to have a fresh start to their newly wedded for the second time life together. Maybe he's right, maybe it's time for them to move on and start new cause new IS always better.
"Okay, but you think getting this big townhouse is really for us? I mean we could get something smaller or in the same space as this apartment." Robin isn't sure if buying a big spacious townhouse that might be too big for just two people was the right place to buy.
"I also saw this one." Barney clicks on the second page that he was looking at before this place he's looking at now and showed it to Robin.
"Um, I like this one more actually." Barney looks at her then to the page twice before giving her a quick kiss on the lips then saying.
"Your right, I should try listening to your opinions more." He saves the apartment page and writes down the number to the relater to contact them to go take a look at their could be new home.
"Robin's in bed, she isn't feeling well." Lily felt bad for being mad at Robin for canceling their lunch date but she let it slide because she knows how it is to be pregnant, especially for Robin who had struggles with fertility before getting pregnant.
"So, how are you doing? You're going to be a father soon how's things going with you." Lily goes to sit on the couch and Barney remains standing.
"Good, so far. Although because of the morning sickness coming on stronger Robin has been pretty sick lately which keeps me up late with her while she heaves into the toilet. So, to answer your question... I'm exhausted!" Lily laughed but she gets it, when women are pregnant some men get the same symptoms as their spouse it's called sympathy pains and in this case it was more of the tired nights and early mornings of throwing up everything and anything to go along with morning sickness.
"I get it, Marshall was the same way with me when I was pregnant with Marvin. I find it sweet that a guy can feel the symptoms of their spouses pregnancies. It only means that you truly love both Robin and the baby already, you are taking care of your family." When Lily was pregnant that first time it wasn't an easy pregnancy so Marshall started waiting on her hand and foot through out the last few months. It drove her crazy and Barney remembers wanting Marshall out of the house to get some peace and quiet in which he drove Marshall to the AC and got so drunk neither really remembers what exactly happened at the time.
"Oh, hey Lil what are you doing here?" Robin had just came from the bedroom seeing her friend was great cause she thought Lily was mad at her.
"Hi sweetie, I just stopped by to see how you guys are. Barney and I were just talking about pregnancy, particularly yours." Lily says hugging her friend. "You look better, are you okay are you still kinda sick?" Robin hugged her friend back then let go and said.
"I'm feeling better, this morning though I was a mess."
"Welcome to the craziness of pregnancy."
They both laugh and the three talked for a little while longer before Lily left.
"Are you really feeling better?" Barney asked just to make sure not to be worry about her again.
"Yeah, I'm better now I was really looking forward to that lunch with Lily though." Robin said putting her aching feet on top of the couch. "But, my feet kinda hurt can I rub them for me?" Barney sits opposite her on the couch taking her feet into his lap then slowly he starts to kneed his fingers over her toes.
The next couple of month everything went okay with Robin and her pregnancy but it wasn't an easy pregnancy. As the weeks and months past and she got bigger and less motivated she started to get bored. But that wasn't the hard part of the pregnancy, she had many early contractions and it came on a lot towards the end but luckily all the morning sickness and at times daily sickness subsided and things were okay for a while. But, by her eight months the doctor put her on bed rest but with Barney there 24/7 she didn't need to worry about anything and when she went into labor early she was premature.
It was 7 am when the contractions started which was expected especially since her due date is only 2 weeks away. They rushed to the hospital and Barney called Robin's doctor to meet them there.
