Confessions

"Edward." I was surprised that it was still so difficult to say the name. "You made your feelings perfectly clear before. We don't need to discuss it again." I said this all in the doorway not willing to be alone with him in his room. That would kill me.

Frowning he left the door open and walked to the couch that divided his room. "Please come in Bella." He kept his back to me.

Walking slowly, I entered the room and looked around. It was very similar to the one in Forks. Large and open, but instead of glass in the windows they were taken out and replaced with panels that could be removed on nice days. They were removed now and you could hear the animals of the forest clearly. Instead of moving toward him I choose to go to one of the openings and see the view. The Cullen's really knew how to build them.

I heard him approach behind me and spun around to face him. He looked surprised and that half smile appeared on his face. "I'm not used to you being able to do that; move so fast like we do. It really seems like no time has passed at all. You look exactly like you did 20 years ago."

"Yep that tends to happen when you become a vampire, time stops moving. But it has, Edward, time has moved on and I have been fine on my own for 20 years so what exactly is it that you want?"

He looked upset again. "You have to understand, Bella. Back then, when I left, it wasn't what you think it was. It was to protect you. I really thought you knew deep down, I didn't leave because I was bored. How could I be bored with you? How could I not want to spend every day with you and be content in your presence? How could I not love you?"

I shook my head. "No, please don't! Don't say that. I can't!" Turning back to the forest, I leaned against the wall for support. He was intent on breaking me completely.

"Why not? I have thought of you every moment since I left and every second since I thought I lost you. Now that your back why can't I say what I should have said years ago? Why can't I hold you and never let you go like I should have done instead of leaving you" I covered my ears in attempts to block the sound. But being a vampire is a disadvantage in that department. "I have always and will always love you, forever." He came around to face me and he lifted my head so that he could look me in the eyes. He smiled.

"No!" I screamed back and punched him in the face.
