Prompt: This will only hurt a lot
"Can't I go to some other healer?" Nathaniel asked, raising his head from where it was resting on his folded hands. He lay on his stomach on an improvised cot in a farmer's barn that his companions had taken refuge in after a brief skirmish with highway bandits.
The Warden Commander bit her lip, trying not to laugh. "Anders is the best we have, and besides, it would be worse to leave the arrow in just to travel to Amaranthine."
"Not much worse," Nathaniel grumbled.
"What is this? An arrow in the leg? Howe did this happen?" Anders said in a mock surprise voice.
"On second thought, Commander," Nathaniel said, attempting to push himself up, "I'd like to choose execution now if you don't mind."
"Stay where you are," she ordered, pushing on his shoulders with her hands. He huffed out a sigh.
"Tsk tsk!" Anders said, making a show of rolling up his sleeves. "A little arrow wound? This isn't that bad. Let me take a look..."
Nathaniel grit his teeth. He could still hear Anders humming to himself as he inspected the broken arrow shaft lodged in Nathaniel's calf. Then he grunted with pain as Anders prodded the wound.
"A little warning, if you please!" he growled.
Anders snorted. "You called me over to come heal your little problem here. What did you think I was going to do if not touch it?"
Nathaniel closed his eyes. "Just... get it over with. We still have further to travel today."
He felt Anders' hand rest on his calf, felt the flare of pain as the shaft moved and braced himself.
"Don't worry," Anders said cheerfully. "This will only hurt a lot."
