WARNING: Slight language in this chapter! Not cussing, but there are rude words that people in this story would only say when they're very, very angry. This will be an intense chapter. I changed the rating to T because of it and the ones to come.

I don't own Austin & Ally

Third Person POV

Ally sighed as she tried to straighten up the house for what felt like the thousandth time that week. When you had kids, it didn't matter how old they were or how little time it'd been since you last cleaned, your house was always dirty. She never even bothered doing more in the kids' rooms than picking up random toys on the floor and moving them out of the way, and taking the dirty laundry to the washer.

The girls' rooms were usually clean enough, that is, whenever the boys hadn't been in there. Whenever Emma had Evan or Jake or one of her cousins in her room, it was always a mess. And whenever Toby spent the night, Ally somehow always found Ella's room messier than usual. Teenage boy clothes found in her daughter's bathroom from when Toby had to change, and forgot to take them home, mostly. Also, he liked to drag out everything of Ella's and share memories to either embarrass her or make her smile.

Ally couldn't count the number of times she'd picked up old pictures from Ella's childhood off the bed where the two had fallen asleep, or off the floor where they'd fallen. She'd constantly had to turn off the TV in the room when they'd fallen asleep on movies, or old videos taken from when they were little.

When the kids had been younger, Ally always had to pick up little toy cars off the floor, and put all of Ella's baby dolls and stuffed animals up. Now that they were older, Ally missed picking up the silly, small things. Toby didn't bring over toy cars anymore. He took her daughter out to watch him drive the real things. It scared her to death thinking of the little boy she'd known since he was five years old behind the wheel of a car, and especially one that moved so fast. She knew he liked going to the racetrack, and she had a feeling he didn't want many people knowing. Ally only knew from stumbling in on one of Ella and Toby's conversations about it a few months ago, and they'd never known she was in the room.

Today, Ally walked into Emma's room first. It was easy enough. Emma was over at the mansion where she and Lily went to have a sleepover with Bri. There was only two stuffed animals that had fallen off of Emma's bed, and the clothes left in her hamper that Ally had to deal with. That kind of room would make any mother smile.

Evan's room was a bit messier, although he was gone for the weekend with Jake's family to the campgrounds. Ally scrunched up her nose in disgust. Where did her son get an entire pizza box, half eaten through, and looked to be about a month old? Shuddering, Ally shoved it in the trash-bag she'd had prepared just for his room and the upstairs bathroom. Ella had a connecting bathroom in her room, but it only had a sink and a toilet. No shower.

Trying to get out of her son's room as quickly as possible, Ally moved to her oldest daughter's room, where she was surprised to find it completely clean. Nothing to pick up or anything. That was weird considering Toby had trudged down the stairs around midnight and crashed on the couch after a long night of watching movies with Ella in her room. In fact, he was still downstairs asleep, even though Ella had left a few hours ago to go to the mall with Thalia. She doubted Toby even knew. The poor boy was so tired. This was his first Saturday off since he started working at The Magic Dragon. She refused to wake him up.

Shrugging, Ally moved on to the bathroom, hoping to just bag up the trash really quick and save cleaning the toilet for Austin. But just as she was about to dump the trash from the bathroom into the trash-bag, something caught her eye. What was that? Some kind of stick? if Ally hadn't known any better, she'd almost swear it was...

Exactly what she thought it was. A pregnancy test.

Oh crap.

"Hey Austin? Can you, uh, come here for a second?" Ally asked, still staring at the trash. It wasn't her test, so she wasn't about to go picking it up.

"Yeah, hang on," Austin yelled from down the hall. He was in their bedroom, doing who-knows-what.

Ally was still staring at the trashcan when he got in there. "So what'd you need?" Austin asked. When she didn't answered, Austin frowned. "Ally?"

"Look," she said, pointing. Austin's frown deepened as he walked over to where his wife was standing and glanced down at the trashcan.

"Yeah, there's trash. Is there something wrong with that?" Austin asked confusedly.

"No, look at what's in the trash. Austin, it's a pregnancy test."

Austin eyes widened as he looked back into the trashcan. Sure enough, there was a pregnancy test half hidden from a couple of tissues. "Is it...?"

"It's not mine." Ally shook her head. "It couldn't be mine, and you know that. Besides, I've never bought a pregnancy test in my life. Linda Murphy was the one to tell us when I was pregnant with the twins."

"Then whose is it?" Austin asked, his mind buzzing.

"I have no idea..." Ally trailed off. He knew what she was thinking. She wasn't sure whose test it was, but there was really only one other option. It wasn't Ally's, and Emma was too young so...There was only one other girl living in the house.

"Oh gosh!" Austin groaned, throwing his hands in the air. "How could we let this happen? We let them stay out together all day, and most of the night a few weeks back! We should have known they would've done something like this!"

"Austin, you can't jump to conclusions-" Ally started towards him.

"Oh I think I dang well can!" Austin snapped. "Our daughter is pregnant Ally! Pregnant! And she's never laid eyes on any other boy besides..."

Ally's eyes were wide as she watched her extremely angry husband process the information. And she knew he was thinking of just who else was in the house with them.

"Austin..." Ally started.

"Hey guys, what's with all the yelling?" asked a groggy voice from the doorway. Ally was almost afraid to turn around.

Standing in the doorway was Toby, dressed in flannel pajama pants and a white t-shirt, and looked as if he'd just tumbled out of bed. He probably had. He was rubbing his eyes, still half-closed from sleep.

"You," Austin growled, and started towards the boy. Eyes widening, Toby barely had time to back up a step before Austin had him pinned up against the bathroom wall. "You did this!"

"What did I do?" Toby screeched, holding his hands up in surrender.

"Don't act like you don't know," Austin said, glaring. "I outta pound you into this wall so hard you can't think straight."

"Austin!" Ally exclaimed. "Put him down!"

"Shut up," Austin spat. Turning back to Toby, he said, "You little punk got my daughter pregnant!"

Toby paled. "Ella's pregnant?" he whispered.

Austin was only getting angrier by the second. But Ally, noticing Toby's expression, put a hand on her husband's arm. "Austin..."

"I said shut up! He did this to our daughter!"

Toby was shaking in fear. "Austin, I-I swear I didn't do anything! I've never even kissed a girl before!"

"I don't believe you," Austin growled. "You had her out all day and most of the night a few weeks ago, and you expect me to believe nothing happened? We let you sleep over, for goodness sakes!"

"I didn't touch her!" Toby cried. "I'd never do that! I could never hurt her, Austin. She means too much to me. I-"

Ally watched as Toby stumbled over his own words. She could see what he was about to say. I love her.

"She can't be pregnant," Toby whispered, looking down. "She can't."

There was a crack in his voice. Ally's eyes widened again, and she tried pulling her husband away. "Austin, he didn't do it. He's telling the truth. You have to let him go."

"Why should I?" Austin snapped.

"Austin Monica Moon," Ally glowered. Austin sighed, releasing his grip on Toby with a glare. The boy didn't move. He just stood there, staring at the floor.

"What?" Austin sighed as his wife pulled him to the side. "Look, I'm sorry I yelled at you, and told you to shut up-"

"I don't care," Ally cut him off. "Think back on everything that's happened with those two in the past twelve years. Just last night, they were still denying their feelings for one another when we teased them. Think of how Toby has never let anyone touch her, and always held her at arm's length unless she asked him not to. He would never do this to her, and you know it."

Austin glanced back at Toby, a kid he'd known since the boy had been born seventeen years ago. A kid that had been his daughter's best friend for the past twelve years. He'd always looked at Ella with nothing short of love and admiration, and he'd never let anyone close enough to hurt her. Even as a five-year-old, he'd freaked out upon hearing what Ella had done in standing up to her kidnappers when they'd held a gun to her pregnant mother's head.

With as many years as Austin had been wishing that Toby wouldn't fall for Ella, just so he wouldn't lose his daughter, he hadn't taken the time to consider their feelings on the matter. And now, looking at the boy who was staring at the floor in utter disbelief, he realized there was nothing he could do. Toby was already in love with Ella, and he hadn't been the one to get her pregnant. He wouldn't lie about that. He'd never hurt her.

And that was why he looked so heartbroken at that moment. About as heartbroken as Austin felt, but they were both going about it in very different ways.

Austin sighed and put a hand on his shoulder. "I didn't do it," Toby whispered, looking up at him through glossy eyes.

"I know," Austin said.

"Hey guys, I'm home!"

Three heads shot up at the familiar voice. Ally put a hand to her heart, glancing at the boys. She just knew they'd behave irrationally.

"Guys?" Ella yelled, walking up the stairs and into the bathroom. "Oh, there you are. What's everyone doing in here?" She was almost laughing, but then she saw her mom looking like something bad was about to happen, her dad looking incredibly angry, and Toby...who just looked upset. More upset than she'd seen him in a very long time. "What's going on?"

"Why don't you tell us?" her father suggested with an odd look on his face.

"I have no idea..." Ella trailed off. "I just got home. I told you guys I went out with Thalia."

"Are you sure you weren't out with your boyfriend?" Austin snapped. Ella flinched, though she was still confused.

"Boyfriend? I don't have a boyfriend, Daddy-"

"Don't you 'Daddy' me, young lady, and I want you to stop lying to us." Ella was shocked at her father's outburst. He'd never talked to her like this before. She'd never heard him talk to anyone like this before.

"I'm not lying!" Ella exclaimed. "I don't have a boyfriend. I've never had a boyfriend. I have two friend that are boys, and one of those I just met this year. I honestly have no idea what you're talking about. And besides that, why can't I call you Daddy? I've always called you that."

"Well apparently you feel like you're all grown up," Austin said in a mocking voice. Ella pouted. "I mean, anyone who goes off and gets themselves pregnant-"

"Pregnant?" Ella asked in bewilderment. "Who's pregnant?"

"You, apparently." Ella looked in surprise to her best friend who'd spoken for the first time. "Or at least that's what I've been told."

"Me? You think I'm pregnant? Who told you that? I'm not pregnant! I've never even had my first kiss! I'm only seventeen! And I'm a Christian. You guys know this! I made a promise to God that I'd never have sex before marriage. Why on earth would you guys think I'm pregnant?"

"Because we found your pregnancy test," Austin said.

"We found a pregnancy test," Ally said, feeling skeptical now.

"And you automatically assumed it was mine?" Ella asked, now feeling more hurt than angry, although it didn't show. "Is it because I'm a teenager, or because you don't trust me? Wait, I know why y'all assumed that."

"Ella, we didn't-" Ally started, but Ella cut her mother off.

"You think that because my birth mother was a slut that drugged your brother and got herself pregnant, that I'm the same. Well, I may be a total mess, but I would never do that, but it's nice to see you guys have so much trust in me!" Ella knew she was being horrible. She knew she was hurting her parents, but she was just so mad. And they'd hurt her by even implying that she might do something like that.

"Ella!" Ally was appalled. Wha had gotten into her daughter? She never said anything like that before...

"Sunshine-"

"Don't 'Sunshine' me," Ella spat at him, making him wince. Austin didn't say anything, though. He deserved that.

"Ella, calm down." Toby tried putting a hand on his best friend's arm, but she wrenched it away from him.

"Don't tell me to calm down! You're a jerk! I can't believe you. You're supposed to be my best friend, and you believed this crap! Even after they probably blamed you! What kind of friend are you? I trusted you, Toby. Do you really think I wouldn't have told you? For goodness sakes, you would've been the first person I told! Whenever I'm scared, I go to you. Well I would have been really freakin' scared if someone told me I was pregnant. I am not a whore!"

"Ella!" both her parents screamed at the same time. They'd never heard her use that kind of language before. Had forbidden it, actually.

"What?" Ella snapped. "'Whore'? It's an ugly word, isn't it? But that's what you're calling me. And I don't like being falsely accused of something so detestable. So much for trust, huh?"

"Ella, we never said that," Ally said desperately.

"Oh, but you sure as heck implied it." Ella glared at her mother. "You all did. You all stood there, seeing a pregnancy test in the garbage, and automatically assumed it was mine. 'Ella's a teenager.' 'Ella's a slut.' 'Ella's a whore.' 'Ella's got to be the one that took this test.' Well I call bullcrap! But I guess it goes to show that the saying is true. 'Like mother, like daughter'? Well I find that funny. All these years you've been trying to convince me that blood didn't matter. That I was nothing like Elliot or Samantha. Yet you accuse me of the exact thing Samantha did when she was around my age. You think I'm going to be like Ally Dawson, eighteen years old with a baby. But, oh wait, Ally Dawson was a good girl. The baby she was raising wasn't hers."

Everyone stared at Ella as she continued her dramatic, hurtful dialogue. "You know, I always thought I would turn out like my mother. People told me I would. But I never knew they were just being cruel, and they meant the mother that gave birth to me. The mother that never meant to have me. The mother that didn't want me. They thought I would be like that, because I came from that. It was only a matter of time before Ella Dawson Moon-if I can even be called that-sheds her good girl image. Is that why I'm only allowed to go by Dawson at school? Because it's my real last name? Am I not good enough to go by Moon?

"You know, these thoughts have crossed my mind on more than one occasion, but I always pushed them back because my whole family always told me to. They told me they loved me, and supported me, and trusted me. And I trusted them. I trusted you. But I guess that was a mistake, because look where it got us."

Ella turned then, sprinting out of the room. Glancing at each other once, Ella's stunned parents and best friend dashed after her. "Ella," they all screamed, demanding to know where she was going, apologizing, and begging her to come back.

"No!" She yelled. "You don't get to know where I'm going! You don't get to care! And don't follow me, or so help me, I will not come back. Ever."

And so they stood there, silently, as Ella grabbed her jacket and purse from the floor and slammed the door behind her.

Toby turned then, looking at the people he'd come to know as second parents worriedly. "Do you think she'll come back? Should we go after her?"

Ally put a hand on his shoulder. "We have to give her time to cool off, honey," she said sadly. "Ella will be back, when she feels better. She didn't mean what she said."

"Yes she did," Toby looked down at his shoes as Austin spoke the words they were all thinking.

"Austin," Ally said, looking up at him with big eye. "Don't say that."

"You heard what she said," Austin argued. "She's felt this way for years, maybe all along. And we never knew it. Have we been that inconsiderate? Have we taken her for granted that much?"

Ally said nothing. She was thinking back to the conversation she'd had with Ella months ago, when her daughter had been so upset about thinking she'd let Lucas crawl out a window. She'd told her then that she hadn't felt like she deserved to be in the family. Did she still feel that way?**

Austin could remember all the times he'd gone into Ella's room after she'd had a nightmare** and she would tell him it was all her fault that something happened. Usually, it was something like someone in the family dying or getting hurt, and she always believed it was her fault. She had always been like that, and it had concerned him.

And Toby, who was standing there staring at the door as if Ella would materialize in front of it, was thinking back on all the times he'd heard Ella say stupid things about how she didn't belong. How she sometimes said she didn't deserve to have a friend like him. How she always sounded so insecure. And he'd never taken it more seriously than something requiring a serious talk that night.

They'd all failed her, and they all felt terrible about it.

Sometime that night, as she walked around, it had started to rain, and Ella realized she might need to find a place to stay for the night. The obvious thought hadn't even crossed her mind when she'd left her house in a rage. She was still angry, but she couldn't help that feeling of guilt that accompanied her thoughts when she remembered the hurt looks on her parents' faces. How broken hearted they'd seemed. And Toby…..the poor guy looked like he'd had his heart ripped out from his chest. She couldn't say she felt any better saying those horrible things to him. She loved him, for goodness sakes, and even if she didn't in that way, he was still her best friend. She felt despicable.

And now, walking around the cold, dark streets of Miami, Toby was the only person she could even think of to go to; to spill her secrets to and have him hold her while she cried about her parents. But she couldn't do that. Not after how she'd treated him, and said she couldn't trust him anymore. And everyone else in the family would take her parents' and Tobys side, and would take her straight back to the house to apologize. Even Terra or Maddie, who were more like sisters to her than anything. What had she been thinking, running away like that?

She'd been thinking she was really pissed at her parents, and she wanted them to know how bad it hurt to have someone you love not trust you. Because that's exactly how they'd made her feel in that moment.

Ella hadn't meant what she'd said about them implying she was aslut or a whore. She hadn't even meant to use the words. And she felt horrible about it. She hated cussing or saying rude words. It just wasn't her. The last time she could remember wanting to curse at someone was when she was six and told her kidnappers that they would go to hell if they didn't change their lives for God. And even then, that wasn't really something to count as cursing.

Ella sighed. She'd really made a mess of things. That was not how she should have handled that. Yes, she should have been upset with them for immediately assuming it was her pregnancy test, but she really couldn't blame them too much. She was the only girl in the house the could have a baby at the moment. Which left her to wonder whose test that might be. Faces floated into her mind, and she even thought that it might be Thalia. That maybe she and Derek had gotten together and didn't tell her and Toby. But the thought sounded wrong on every level. Thalia was too shy, and Derek too polite and caring. Ella hated herself for even thinking it.

Pushing those thoughts aside, she knew she had a right to be angry, even being the only girl in the house that could have been pregnant. So many people came to their house, it could have been anyone. Anyone married. It could be Trish, or Maddie, or Tori, or even her grandma or Aunt Claire, though that sounded less likely. It couldn't be her mother or Kelsey, but it could be a number of people, even those not married like herself. It could be Terra, or Alyssa, or Thalia...three people Ella doubted it would be as much as she knew it wasn't herself.

Imagine that, Ella mused to herself in a dry humor. Me, Ella Moon, being a teenage mom. She laughed at the thought. Like any guy would ever even like her! She was just the school weirdo that loved to read and write, and keep her head down. Until this year, Toby was her only friend. As it was now, she only had three, including Toby. No boy noticed her, and if they did, they wouldn't come near her because they believed Toby had a claim on her. They weren't going to go anywhere near the quarterback's girl.

Time after time, Ella could remember laughing at that as well, but she realized now that Toby did hold a claim over her, whether he knew it or not. She belonged to him completely. She was his. No one else would ever compare. She was in love with Toby Bentley, and she couldn't imagine loving anyone else that way for the rest of her life. Even after she had felt so betrayed today by him. She still trusted him, no matter what. She trusted him with her life. And she still trusted her parents. She just made it seem like she didn't. She knew they loved her, just as she loved them. It just hurt that they didn't seem to trust her.

Ella imagined that this is what Clary might have felt like when Simon said he didn't trust her in The Mortal Instruments: City of Ashes*. It felt horrible to be untrustworthy. And why wasn't she? Because she was a teenager? Because she was in love with her best friend and everyone knew it even though she hadn't said anything? Or was it actually because she did come from someone who'd had her out of wedlock?

No. Ella pushed those thoughts out of her mind. They only brought her pain. She trusted her parents. They didn't even think of that until she'd said it, Ella figured. Even if Ella had been the one to get pregnant, no one would've believed she would have left her baby at three months old or drugged the guy she slept with. That just wasn't Ella. Of course, sleeping with a guy at all wasn't Ella either, but she would choose to look past that little fact as she pondered these depressing thoughts.

Blinking in the rain, Ella glanced around her, suddenly aware that she had no idea where she was. Out of all the places she'd been in Miami, this didn't look like one of them. Uh oh.

"Little girl, you best gets off these streets."

Ella jumped at the voice, and nearly fell. Turning around, she saw an elderly woman with what looked like soot and ashes on her face and hands, and her clothes were shredded. Ella blinked at her. Where was she, and why did this woman look so bedraggled?

"I'm sorry ma'am, who are you?" Ella asked, swallowing against the lump in her throat.

"No one you need to concern yourself with, dear. Just a poor old soul in the neighborhood. But you look like a girl from the other side of town. A good girl. You needn't be on this side of town. There's nothing but hooligans and thugs down here, and those of us who can't afford to live anywhere else. You best be getting yourself home, you hear?"

"Um, I don't exactly know where that is…" Ella trailed off. She didn't exactly want to tell this woman that she kind of ran away from home either.

"Oh, are you lost?" The woman's gaze turned soft and concerned.

"Yes ma'am, just a bit. Do you happen to know of the nearest wifi spot so I can find where I'm meant to be?" Ella asked. She couldn't lie. She would not say she was going home. And she wasn't going to Maddie's or Toby's or her grandparents' house either. She wouldn't stoop to that kind of childish running away. She'd go where they least expected her to go.

The woman smiled. She was clearing amused by something, though Ella couldn't fathom what that might be. "Wifi? Around here? I wish!" The woman laughed loudly. "Honey, you best get yourself to McDonald's* or something. It's a few blocks down. But be careful. I cannot stress that enough. This is a bad part of town, I tell you. Been more than one murder, and a few kidnappings. And I do not want to be hearing of a young teenage girl getting kidnapped tomorrow morning on the news."

"Yes ma'am, I'll be very careful. Thank you so much," Ella said, waving at the poor old woman as she walked away. She might have stayed to talked to her, had the rain not gotten heavier, and it not been a part of town she didn't know in which this lady kept insisting was incredibly dangerous.

Walking down the street, Ella could understand what the woman had been taking about. Halfway down the second block, Ella saw a group of about five or six teenagers (mostly boys, from what she could tell), taking turns strabbing some poor animal that already looked dead. Pushing past the urge to puke or scream or both, Ella quickly move to the shadows as to not be seen by them. Who knows, those kids might think she wa some prep on the wrong side of town, and decide to take turns stabbing her. The thought nearly sent her into a panic attack, and she gained more respect for how long Maddie and Alyssa dealt with it all these years.

By the time she saw the old McDonald's sign that was missing the 'o' and the lights on about four letters were blinking on and off, she was nearing running. Pushing the doors open, she quickly ordered a cookie so they wouldn't get angry that she was only using their wifi. She took one bite of the cookie and immediately spat it back out. Peanut butter. She hated peanut butter, and she hadn't even realized she'd ordered it. Toby would have made sure she hadn't have accidently ordered that, or he would have gone back up there to get her a chocolate-chip cookie while he ate the peanut butter one. But Toby wasn't here.

Ella sighed and reached for her phone, quickly connecting to the internet and searching for the address she was now glad he'd memorized not so long ago after she heard her mother talking about it. Her eavesdropping may be rude, but it sure did come in handy.

When she got directions for the place, Ella literally sighed in relief. It was only another couple blocks from here. How lucky was that? It could have been on the other end of Miami for all he knew!

Grabbing her purse, which she clutched tightly in her hands as she glanced at a few rowdy men coming through the door in their mid-twenties, Ella rushed out the door and back into the storm. Of course the storm would have gotten worse while she was in McDonald's., and now the rain was incredibly heavy, with thunder and lightning, as she ran towards the street her phone showed her earlier. It took almost ten minutes to get there in the storm, and by the time she did, she was drenched and freezing and terrified.

Not even bothering with politeness, Ella banged on the door as hard as she could, over and over again. "Hello? Is anyone home? Please, open the door!"

She banged on the door a few more times, and was about to knock again when it was wrenched open, and a very familiar face loomed over her with a dazed, wide-eyed expression.

"Ella? What are you doing here?"

Ella smiled faintly. "Hi Uncle Elliot."

Hiya! So guess what day it is? It's exactly a year since I posted this story! :) Thanks to the guest who put that in a review, or else i might not have posted this today. i had it mostly finished, but it was still unedited, and I'm still getting used to Google Docs after I got a new computer and my dad didn't get Word put on it.

So, tell me what you guys think of the chapter :) I'm excited to hear your thoughts. This is a chapter I've been planning for a long time. Like since I was in Florida during the summer. I'm very excited part one is finally here!

Also! I want everyone who reviews (and feels like it) to please tell me who you think is pregnant. Because the test was definitely positive, and I'm sure everyone can agree it's not Ella right? So tell me who you think it might be. Here's a hint. They have been mentioned in this chapter. I might have a special surprise for those of you who guess it right on first try. Happy guessing!

*I don't own this stuff, obviously. And knowI reference The Mortal Instruments a lot but it's good at literary geniusness and a very exciting story.

**These examples could be found in chapter one, chapter three, and chapter six. Probably more places than that, but these are the few examples I went back and looked at specifically for this chapter with Ella and Toby/Ally/Austin.

God bless you all!
