A/N: Hope you are still enjoying these :) Thanks for reading everyone!

Brennan stood outside the lab, only partially covered from the heavy rain. The case they had just finished up had hit too close to home. A foster girl had been found inside the trunk of her foster father's "stolen" car. Brennan had covered up her memories and hurt with anger. Lashing out at everyone around her and almost attacking the suspect/murderer. Booth had had to physically restrain her and it almost cost them the case.

Angela had tried to talk to her, Brennan knew her best friend had meant well but she didn't want to talk. She had never told Angela the story. Sweets was being annoying, hinting that he was there if she needed to talk, that she should discuss it, kept trying to bring it up. She knew he was concerned for her because he did know the story but unlike the night she had told him, Brennan could not find it in her to confide in Sweets. Hodgins and Cam offered support but ultimately left her alone, for which she was grateful. Booth had been wonderful. She felt bad for taking the majority of her frustration and hurt out on him but he knew. He knew why the case affected her more than any other case involving foster kids; he knew that being locked in that trunk for two days was not the only bad thing that had happened to her in foster care. And he didn't pressure her to talk about it, just let her know that like always he was there.

Brennan shivered slightly as the cold rain made its way through her clothes. Half her hair was plastered to her face and neck. She hadn't heard her come up behind her, but she felt his presence; something that made no sense scientifically. He put his coat around her shoulders shielding her from the cold rain.

"You should come inside." He said softly. She didn't respond, just kept looking out into nothing. He gently rubbed his hand over her arm.
"It's easier to breathe out here" She responded five minutes later. Booth's blue shirt was soaked through making it darker as it clung to his skin. He nodded in understanding.

"It could have been me" She whispered finally. "It could have been me" Suddenly she felt overwhelmed, tears sprang to her eyes and she was helpless to stop them from rolling down her cheeks; mixing with the rain. "It could have been me."

"It wasn't you" Booth said as he pulled her into a tight embrace. "It wasn't you." He kissed her temple. "It wasn't you Bones. It could have been but it wasn't. You are here. Alive. Very alive giving dead people voices. Helping me catch murderers. You are very much alive. You are Dr. Temperance Brennan. You're Bones. And you're not alone anymore." Brennan took a deep breathe in an attempt to regain her compose before looking up at him. The sincerity in his eyes didn't help to stop the tears.
"More than one kind of family" She whispered.

"Ya." Brennan hugged him again. They stood in the rain hugging until their shivers brought them back to reality.

"Come on Bones, let's get out of the rain" He said taking her hand in his and intertwining their fingers. Brennan nodded and let him guide her back into the lab, her heart feeling lighter than it had since the beginning of the case; as if Booth had taken physically taken her pain away.
