The Christmas party at Alex's changed their relationship, for the better.

James spent the winter break with Kendall and his family. He spent New Year's with them as well and it made James really happy. He was happier than he had ever been and he hoped nothing would go wrong. He was afraid everything would change once they went back to school and he was dreading it. He didn't want to go back. He didn't want to pass by Kendall in the halls like he didn't mean anything to him. James just wanted to be in university as a new person and not have to keep himself or his relationship with Kendall hidden.

It was the first day back and James was at his locker. He was taking out his books when Kendall showed up at his side.

"Morning." The blond grinned at him.

James smiled back. "Morning."

"So, I have practice after school today." Kendall told him as he fidgeted with the strap of his backpack. "And I know you don't want to be kept a secret so. I think I'll tell them."

James stopped what he was doing and looked at him. Kendall was looking at him but James could tell he was nervous. He looked like he might just faint. James knew this wouldn't be easy for the blond but he didn't know it would affect him like this.

"Don't worry about it." James said. "We only have a few months left. We can start over in Canada. I heard they're just a bit more tolerant than the idiots here."

Kendall blinked. "Are you sure?"

He was. In Canada they could start new. No one knows who they are over there. And James wasn't going to continue being a scared little kid anymore. He's going to stand up for what he believes in and he's never going to let anyone bully him again because of his sexuality. That's going to end the second they get their diplomas.

He nodded at Kendall. "Yeah, I'm sure."

The blond let out a sigh of relief and smiled. "Thanks."

The bell rang.

"I'll see you!" Kendall winked at him and ran off.

James closed his locker and started his way to class.

James was in his hotel room when Kendall, Logan, Jonah, and Alex came barreling in.

"What—"

They all sprawled out on his bed and couch.

"So, we are all going to U of T." Alex announced.

James frowned. "You all applied and got in?"

"Well, I'm not going for university. I'm going to get away from this place and the…memories. I told my parents you were leaving and they suggested I get a change of scenery as well." Jonah shrugged. "I just decided Canada for you."

"That's so sweet." Alex gushed. "But I got in. I just didn't tell you or Kendall."

"So we're all going to the same country and city together?"

"Road trip!" Logan, Jonah and Kendall sang together.

"You and Kendall can dorm together and Carlos and Logan can dorm together and Jonah and I can dorm together!" Alex said excitedly.

"I'm actually getting an apartment close to school." James said. "My mom's going to pay for it as an apology for being who she is."

"Roommies!" Logan, Jonah, and Kendall sang once again.

"There's only two rooms."

"Ask your mom for another one." Alex pouted. "We should all be together."

James shook his head. "No. We aren't on speaking terms. She just emailed me telling me she found an apartment for me."

"That's okay. Having a dorm is part of the college experience." Logan spoke up.

"But who's getting the second room?" Alex asked.

James shrugged. "Flip a coin."

Kendall stood up and wrapped an arm around James' shoulder. "I'm his boyfriend so I think it's only right that I be the one sharing the apartment."

"Favouritism doesn't work under my roof!" Alex shouted.

"I'm his best friend." Jonah said raising an eyebrow at Kendall. "I'm the one who should be sharing it with him."

Kendall and Jonah both looked at him expectantly.

James backed away from them and put up his hands. "Flip a coin or Carlos gets it."

"Fair enough."

Alex pulled out her wallet and took out a coin. They all started arguing while James sat back and got back to the assignment he was working on before they came in.

He was so used being alone and in the quiet. It was weird having people shouting and laughing. He wasn't used to it. But it was a good kind of weird. It filled his chest up with warmth and made him feel happy.

He could get used to this.

Five more months and he would have this every day.

He couldn't wait.
