The Attack

"What do we do?" Gabriel asked as Dean peaked out the angel's bedroom window. The demons had come out in the middle of the night and were currently surrounding the house. Bobby and Sam were downstairs gathering every weapon they could get their hands on while Custos distracted the demons. Dean's job right now was protect the angels.

"Get you three out of here," Dean whispered, watching as Custos attempted to scare the demons away from the back window. "Come on," he said, lifting the angels up into his arms and carrying them down the stairs. Sam threw an angel blade his direction and the hunter grabbed it in mid-air.

"Ready to go, Dean?" Sam asked, as he pushed open the window. Dean jumped through the window and reached his hands through the window.

"As ready as I'm going to be," Dean whispered in a hushed voice. Sam nodded, lifting each angel one by one through the window and into Dean's arms. Once the angels were through the window Sam and Bobby pushed their way through. Dean balanced all three angels in one arm and held the angel blade in the other. He scanned the area before nodding towards the woods. They all took off into the woods, watching as Custos distracted the demons.

"I heard Custos whine a while back, Dean," Bobby whispered so soft that only Dean could hear. Dean leaned his head against the tree they were hiding behind.

"Damn it," Dean cussed.

"The demon's aren't stupid. They'll find our trail, boy, we have to spli-" Dean sent a glare in Bobby's direction and the hunter shut his mouth.

"Dean?" Dean sucked in a breath, chancing a glance at the angels in his arms. Balthazar was the one who spoke. Gabriel was watching the way they came like a hawk and Castiel was staring at the forest like it was his worst nightmare. "Dean, we're not going to spit up are we?" the middle angel questioned. Castiel's eyes snapped up to Dean's and the fear was evident in the angel's face.

"No. I…I…" Dean cut Castiel off by gently tapping the angel's lips with his fingers.

"Cas, no one is going to be left alone. We need to stick together in this," Dean reassured the angel. Relief washed over the angel, but Sam and Bobby didn't look too convinced. Dean didn't care. He wasn't leaving anyone alone. Especially after making so many promises not to.

"There's something out there," Gabriel finally whispered, eyes fallowing a dark shadow drifting through the tree tops. The group followed the shadow Gabriel was watching.

"Demons," Sam whispered, holding his knife tighter. Dean quickly gathered the angels into his arm and slowly stood. Bobby and Sam followed and they slowly began to retreat.

Snap!

The shadow's head snapped in their direction at the sound of the twig snapping beneath Dean's boot. Another swear left Dean's mouth and the group ran for it. The shadow snarled jumping out from the light and revealing itself. The demon hissed, calling for others.

"Sam watch out!" Gabriel yelped as a female demon jumped out of nowhere. Sam readied his knife, but a mound of black fur jumped in his way, taking down the demon and ripping her throat out.

"Custos!" Castiel shouted in relief at the sight of the puppy while Dean simply winced. Custos' abdomen was slashed open, spilling his insides out. It didn't appear to be stopping the puppy.

"Good boy, Custos," Dean shouted before breaking into a run again. The hellhound puppy barked after him before going back to tearing the demon to pieces.

"Your left!" Sam shouted at Bobby and the old hunter stabbed Balthazar's angel blade into a demon's chest.

"Damn things run fast!" Bobby panted, eyes flickering around the room before stopping. Everyone halted, frowning at the hunter.

"Bobby, what are you doing?" Dean spat, eyes drifting from his father figure and the demons drawing closer.

"I'll hold 'em off while you idjits get the angels out of here," Bobby shouted at them. Dean and Sam both shouted at the hunter, trying to persuade him that they could get out of this together, but it was no use. "Just run!" Bobby shouted, turning his back to them and readying his blade. Dean began to move again, but Sam over to Bobby's side, spinning his own blade.

"Sam, no!" Dean shouted at his brother. Sam smiled at him over his shoulder.

"We'll meet you at Charlie's when this is all over," Sam shouted. Dean just stared at his brother, refusing to move. "You protect them, Dean! Don't you dare let anyone touch them!" Dean snapped out of it, nodding once before running back down the path and leaving his brother and Bobby to lead the demons elsewhere. He held back the burning in his eyes, reminding himself that he has to stay strong for the angels' sakes.

They must have been running for hours before Dean's legs finally turned to Jell-O and he collapsed into the dirt.

"Dean!" the angels screamed, shaking the hunter awake. Dean sat up, panting heavily. The angels swarmed him, tear stains tracking down their cheeks. Dean forced a smile.

"I'm alright. I'm just tired," Dean reassured them. The angel's through themselves at him, sobbing quietly into his shirt. Dean hushed them, rocking them gently as his eyes kept an eye out for any demons that may hear their crying. He didn't see anything, but that meant nothing.

"D…Dean…my…my dream it…" Castiel swallowed, looking absolutely terrified. Dean felt his heart clench at the use of his name being pronounced correctly. "This was…my dreams," Castiel finished, shivering in Dean's arms. Dean's eyes widened, glancing around the forest. It was so dark you could barely see anything over three feet away. It was quiet too. Too quiet. Dean pulled all three angels closer to himself.

"It'll be alright, Boys. I'm not going to let anyone touch you," Dean whispered.

"You should only make promises you can keep, Winchester," an oddly familiar voice hissed from behind. Dean turned, eyes widening at the sight of the little waitress he and Castiel had met. What was her name? Maranda? Arial?

"Andrea," Castiel gasped. Dean's skin went cold.

"Not anymore," the demon chuckled, pointing at the stab wound decorating her chest. Dean tensed, gritting his teeth together.

"What do you want?" Dean questioned, already knowing the answer. They wanted the angels. That bit was obvious.

"Think about it, Winchester. Lord Crowley would be so pleased to find one of these on his doorstep, tortured and mutilated," she hummed, twirling a finger through her hair.

"You guys are a bunch of kiss-ups," Dean spat, letting go of the angels and getting to his feet. He stepped in front of the angels protectively while spinning his blade. The demon shrugged her shoulders, pouncing at Dean in an instant. Dean gasped, dodging her attack and slicing at her head. She dodged, raking her claws against his cheek. Gabriel jumped in then, swiping his wings against her back. She cried out in pain, kicking the archangel in the stomach and sending him into his brothers. Dean's eyes locked on the angels, heart contracting. Shit.

"Gabe, get your brothers out of here!" Dean shouted at them. Gabriel and the angels didn't move. They stayed in place, spreading their wings up higher. Even Castiel was showing off his wings. Dean's teeth clamped down so hard on his lip that blood filled his mouth. "Damn it! Run!" Dean screamed at them, but the angels swung at the demon, crashing their wings against her soft form. Castiel picked up the angel blade that had been kicked out of Dean's hand and began to swipe at the demon. She dodged the blade, getting cut by if every other swipe, but not enough to be fatal. Andrea let out an irritated scream, kicking Castiel in the head and sending the angel in a crumpled heap to a muddy puddle.

"Cassie!" Balthazar screamed, turning his back from the fight to stare at his brother. Andrea smirked, taking full advantage of the angel's turned back and grabbed his wing. Balthazar let out a pained scream as a crunch echoed throughout the forest from his wing and collapsed next to Castiel, shivering in pain. Gabriel cried out for his brothers, heart pounding in terror. Dean lunged back at Andrea, holding her down on the ground as he struggled with her. Gabriel's eyes turned to him, wide with horror.

"Damn it, Gabriel! Take your brothers now!" Dean shouted, as he forced the demon to keep from moving.

"I can't just leave you-"

"Go, Gabe! Protect your brothers!" Dean screamed. Gabriel took in a shaky breath, picking Castiel up from the ground and shaking Balthazar awake. Castiel screamed in terror, ripping himself from his brother's hold and running towards Dean. "Grab him!" Dean shouted at the two older angels. Gabriel rushed after his brother, grabbing the baby angel before he could get any closer to Dean. Castiel screamed, but Gabe buried the little angel's face into his shoulder as he lifted Cas up and took Balthazar's hand. Soon the three were on their way in the opposite direction.

"Dwean!" Castiel cried from Gabriel's arms. Dean could just see the fearful tears running down the baby angel's cheeks. "Dwean!" the far away sob screamed.

"Don't leave each other alone!" he shouted after them, remembering Castiel's nightmare. Dean let out a breath only to be smacked against the head. He gasped in pain, rolling off of Andrea. Another Demon stood over him. This one was male and not one that Dean recognized. It smiled down at him before glancing in the direction of the angels currently running away.

"The chase is on," he hissed before smacking Dean in the head with an iron rod and dashing after the angels with Andrea at his side. Dean tried to pick himself up to go after them, but all he could see was a black fog rolling over his vision.

"Don't...leave each other a...alone..." Dean gasped, hoping that they had heard. His eyes fluttered closed as the darkness finally took over. The last thing he heard was the screaming of angels.

To be continued…..
