Previously on D2L: …Gray said as he walked out of the room. The moment he left, Lucy let out a deep breath and sighed as she collapsed on her bed, hugging her pillow…then, her phone rang.
"Hello?" she answered, not bothering to check the caller's name first.
"Lucy-san…um, hi" a sweet, feminine voice replied and Lucy's eyes widened in surprise and excitement.
"Y-yukino-chan?!" Lucy exclaimed happily.
Continue:
Lucy: It's been so long…
Yukino: I'm glad you still remember me and aren't mad at me or anything…
Lucy: mad at you? Why would I be mad at you?
Yukino: Well…actually, I was a bit worried when I never received any reply from you on your birthday…
Lucy: Reply?
Yukino: I had sent you a message to wish you happy birthday
Lucy: hmm…strange, I never saw it! But that aside, I'm not mad at you… So how're things back in Hargeon?
Yukino: …just like they used to be. Hargeon is no fun without you. I'm just happy to be talking to you like this…you sound like…like the old Lucy who used to always smile and be so cheerful.
Lucy: fancy you saying that *chuckles*
Yukino: Who is he?
Lucy: huh? *shocked*
Yukino: Lucy-san, I've known you long enough to know…right now, you're blushing aren't you?
Lucy was a bit shocked and flustered at Yukino's words. She turned quickly to look at herself in the mirror. Her hand reached up to her cheeks… 'warm' she thought. Yes, she really was blushing!
Yukino: It sounds like…Lucy-san has found her prince… the one I used always tell you about…
Lucy: I don't know Yukino-chan… I still feel sometimes that love really isn't something I should get into but –
Yukino: But with him you just can't avoid it – right?
Lucy smiled…
Lucy: Yeah…I guess you could say that.
Yukino: But Lucy-san…you're sure about him right? I don't want him to break your heart.
Lucy: I'm sure about him Yukino-chan…What I'm unsure about is myself. He's…the best thing that's ever happened to me, yet the thing I wished for most to never happen again… But do I deserve someone like him?
Yukino: Of course you do! If he's as wonderful as you describe then of course! Lucy-san, I've told you this before and I'll tell you again, you deserve only the best. You're a great girl…I hope he'll one day be able to make you realize that. But other than that, if ever anything should happen, just remember, be strong. There's more to life than love.
Lucy: But Yukino-chan…I just feel inside that…this time…if it happens again…I don't think I'll ever be able to fall in love again…let alone avoid it…It'll hurt a lot if it were to be him…more than it did the last time…
Yukino: Lucy-san… he's really important isn't he… This is more than just 'like'… have you confessed to him?
Lucy: no…I just can't muster the courage to…
Yukino: Have you ever shared it with anyone else?
Lucy: No…
Yukino: You need to tell someone how you feel Lucy…if you don't, it'll be like a burden on you.
It was the first time Yukino didn't use a honorific on her name… and Lucy knew that every word she said was true…
Lucy: I'm in love with him…Yukino-chan…
Yukino: You should say it to him soon Lucy-san…but just remember what I said before. There's more to life than love… and I'll always be there for you…I'll call you later…
