FADE IN. EXT. MORNING. OUTSIDE BOLZANO, ITALY. Two weeks after NEWKIRK was shot. The walker piloted by ALEK stands just visible from the trees, the rising sun glinting off the metal armor. DERYN sits looking out the hatch, waiting for the Leviathan to come into her sights. The great ship appears on the horizon.
DERYN (shouting down at ALEK)
I see her! Due north!
ALEK launches the walker forward and out of the trees. Once they are in full view of the oncoming airship, DERYN scrambles out of the hatch and onto the top of the walker with semaphore flags, signaling their location.
DERYN jumps down from the rig.
DERYN
They're coming. Get your things boys, we're going home
NEWKIRK scoffs at that statement and slowly stands up.
ALEK
Merry Christmas Deryn
DERYN(rolling her eyes)
Aye, this Christmas was certainly merry. One of the merriest Christmases
I can remember!
ALEK smirked and pulls DERYN into a smothering hug.
NEWKIRK(disgusted)
Ugh! Could you please keep the snogging down to a minimum? I'm still
used the Deryn being Dylan.
BOVRIL (climbing up NEWKIRK's jacket)
Mr. Sharp!
NEWKIRK (prying the loris off his shoulder)
And suddenly that makes sense.
DERYN laughs and NEWKIRK hints at a smile.
The End
