Previously: Megan has been kidnapped by Christopher Pellant…
A/N: I tried to make Pellant as close to character as possible. I believe even for a bad guy, he has some courtesy, as shown with Dr. Brennan when he pushes her out of the way of an exploding pipe a few minutes before Booth kills him. Also why the long flashback? Well I wanted to show what happened between the time Megan was kidnapped and when she called her father. So it's kind of a flashback/missing scene…
Flashback…
Having just left her old neighborhood while trying to rid her mind of painful memories, Megan heads towards one of D.C.'s many malls. About to hail a cab, she is grabbed from behind and loses consciousness very quickly. Some time passes before she awakens.
As she regains consciousness and opens her eyes, she sees that wherever she is has very little light. Forcing herself not to panic, she hears someone enter the room. "Oh good, you're awake." This man says as he comes into her view. Setting down a plastic bag, he pulls out a bottle of water and a disposable straw. Opening the water bottle and putting the straw in it, he holds it to her lips. Her mouth feeling very dry, she takes a few sips before this man pulls the liquid away.
More awake than before, she moves her body into an upright position. This man helps her stand up from the cot she had been laying on and sits her in a folding chair, before booting up several computer screens. On them she can see everything important in her life. Her old neighborhood shows on one screen, her school is on another. Several spots that she frequents shows up across the multiple screens. But what frightens her the most isn't her spots; it's her father's. On one screen shows the FBI building, another shows the Jeffersonian. Last, but not least is her house…
The man then comes back over to her before pulling something out from his pocket. He hands her a cell phone.
"Now I need you to call your dad. Just press 6 for the speed dial. When he picks up, tell him my name."
"What is your name?" she asked him.
"Christopher Pellant." This man told her. At those words fear came to the surface. This must have been what her father had been so scared of. This man must have been the cause of the case her father was currently working on.
Pressing the number 6, she waits as she hears the ringing, waiting for him to pick up. Then he does.
"Booth."
"Daddy."
"Megan, hey where are you? I thought you were gonna bring me lunch kiddo."
"Daddy." Taking a deep breath, she said, "Pellant."
Booth couldn't believe he was hearing the bastard's name. This meant…
"Pellant. It's Christopher Pellant."
The criminal had his daughter.
End of Flashback…
After saying his name, Pellant took the cell from Booth's daughter. "Hello Agent Booth."
"Pellant. Let her go." His tone was venomous, promising the bad man harm if he didn't.
"But she just got here. We haven't even had the chance to talk about you or share a meal."
"I'm not playing around." Booth told Pellant. "Release her and I won't kill you.
"Now, is that any way to get you daughter back unharmed Agent Booth?" Christopher Pellant asked the FBI agent. Megan, hearing that he would hurt her and knowing how much he could, brought back bad memories. Panic raced through her body and sent her breathing out of control. She went into a panic attack, body shaking and she found herself unable to breathe normally. "Your manners really leave something to be desired. I mean you didn't even say please."
Then Pellant noticed her panic attack. Switching over to his hands free set-up, he began talking to Megan. "Now little Booth, I need you to breathe. In…now out." He repeated this several times.
"What did you do to her? Seeley asked Pellant.
"Me, nothing. It was your bad manners that caused this." Christopher told Seeley. "However, since it is the holiday season, tell you what. I'll give you just over 24 hours to get her back. Alive. You have until 11:55 pm Christmas Eve to find her. And me. Goodbye Agent Booth."
The second the call disconnected, he raced out of the FBI building and sped over to the Jeffersonian. He would need all the help he could get.
At the Jeffersonian…
Gathering all the squints around, he explained that Christopher Pellant had taken Megan.
"Oh my god. Is she okay?" Angela asked.
"For now," Booth replied. "He gave me until tomorrow night to find her." The clock was ticking.
