! Chapter Twenty One!

! Answering the Questions and Getting Over the Pain!

The next morning Lila was back to her normal self, forcing herself to get over what happened years ago. She wasn't that little girl anymore, she was stronger now. She would be insulting her Danna if she let herself be effected by the past and she refused to let that happen.

So instead of sitting around moping she let it go. Or at least she tried.

"Lila," Sasori snapped, "You are not paying attention." He told her and she shook her head to clear it.

He had offered to show her two new poisons for her training but it seems she was having trouble keeping focus.

"Sorry, won't do it again." She sighed and he stared at her for a second before turning back to his work.

She made sure to block everything out but her training, he was being kind enough to show her so she had to show respect and focus on the task at hand.

After an hour and a half of nothing but what went into the poison and what went into its antidote Lila left the workshop and headed into the kitchen for lunch.

Everyone but Shea and her leader turned to look at her expectantly as she sat down, noticing the looks she looked around, "What?" She asked with a raised eyebrow.

"We heard you got a letter." Zetsu told her and she sighed with an eye roll. "Yes, I got a letter. Which is in a pile ash in my trash can now." she told them with a smirk.

"It was from your parents." Itachi stated and she nodded, "Yep, it was." She told them and Konan sat the food down in front of them.

"Well what the fuck did it say?" Hidan asked as Sasori walked in, "It was an apology." Lila told them, Sasori had already got the confession out of her that morning and continued to grab two viols of black, now frozen, liquid from the freezer and left to his workshop.

"An apology for what?" Kisame asked as they all grabbed a plate and started eating, "For ruining my life." She shrugged, stuffing her face with the super goodness that was Konan's cooking.

Shea snorted at her words but otherwise didn't say anything, her eyes showing her humor. "Well that really tells us a lot, un." Deidara said sarcastically and Lila sighed. "It tells you all you need to know." She told them, ignoring them the rest of the time she ate.

"Why won't you tell us?" Kisame asked, "Yeah, Lila-Chan, Tobi wants to know!" Tobi shouted.

They were all in the living room staring at Lila intensely. "Maybe I don't want to tell you." She insisted, crossing her arms as she glared at the wall.

"Guys', leave her alone. She'll tell you when she wants to tell you." Shea told them and sent a puppy dog look towards Kisame; he instantly sighed in defeat and dropped the subject.

The others, however, refused to let it go. "Do you not trust us, yeah?" Deidara asked with a sad look, hoping to guilt her into telling.

"Just fuck off!" She insisted, but she was ignored. "You can't just say they ruined your fucking life and be done with it, just fucking tell us!" Hidan insisted until everyone was shouting at her at the same time.

It was just one after another until she felt she would lose her mind. "They beat me, okay! Are you fucking happy now?!" She yelled to them as she stood and stormed off, leaving the room silent.

"Nice, guys'," Shea sighed; she didn't bother to go after her friend, knowing it would only make it worse, make her feel weak.

Instead she looked over to Kisame, who took the hint and sent Hidan flying into the wall; mainly because he was closer than the others.

Sasori heard the yell from his workshop and didn't bother to turn as Lila stormed in and sat in the chair next to him.

"We work with idiots." She sniffled, brushing away a tear as she watched him work. "I've known this for a while." He deadpanned; his hand steady as he laced one of his puppets fingernails with the black poison.

After a while of silence he looked over to find her asleep, tears still leaking from her eyes now and then.

He just sighed and continued his work; he would take her to her room later.

Two days later and Lila still refused to look anyone in the eyes other then Sasori, Shea, and her leaders; the last solely because she had to show them respect.

Shea sighed deeply when Lila went to her room after breakfast and locked herself in. She wasn't mad at anyone, just ashamed at herself for letting the whole thing get this far, this bad.

"Well, I'm gonna go fix this." She said as she stood and left the kitchen; the others curiously followed her as she went to her room and grabbed her guitar before heading further down the hall to Lila's door.

She then sat down on the floor, leaned her back against the wall, and played.

"Telling Lila's story spoken,
about how all her bones are broken,
Hammers fall on all the pieces,
Two months in the cover creases,

Fully alive,
more than most,
Ready to smile,
and love life,
fully alive,
and she knows,
How to believe in futures,

All my complaints shrink to nothing;
I'm ashamed of all my some things,
She's glad for one day of comfort,
only because she has suffered,

Fully alive,
more than most,
Ready to smile,
and love life,
fully alive,
and she knows,
How to believe in futures,

Here she stands today,
in her brilliant shining way,
Stronger then her pain,
in her brilliant shining way,

Fully alive,
more than most,
Ready to smile,
and love life,
fully alive,
and she knows,
How to believe in futures,

Fully alive,
more than most,
Ready to smile,
and love life,
fully alive,
and she knows,
How to believe in Jesus."

Lila opened the door to tell them to leave her alone but then she saw Kisame and Deidara fighting to hold back Hidan as he cursed and struggled to get to Shea, who had a triumphant smile on her face as she successfully enraged Hidan with Jesus.

She started laughing, uncontrollably, and everyone froze to look at her as she slid to the floor and crawled over to her partner.

"You know me too well." She laughed and Shea joined in, hugging the blond. "Yep, I should've done this days ago." She grinned and pulled her friend up until they both stood. "Oh and Hidan," Lila said as she turned to the albino with evil grin.

"Jesus loves you." She told him before darting off, just making it around the corner before he broke away from everyone and chased her down the hall.

However, when he turned a corner she disappeared, leaving him all too confused.

"Zetsu, what's up?" Lila asked as the plant man sat her down in a chair in Pein's office, said leader entered a second later with a stack of papers. "Lila, I need you and Shea to take these down to the village and give them to the council members." He told her and her eyebrows shot up.

She thought diplomatic stuff was left to the more important people like Konan, not two spies who had a tendency to screw things up.

As if reading her mind he sighed, "It's a simple job; the entire council has tea at Yuri's Tea Shop everyday at one-o-clock and will be expecting you. Get in, get out, and don't say a word to them. Let Shea do the talking, she's done this twice before and it shouldn't be a problem." He told her, answering all her questions to the point she really was wondering if he can read her mind.

"I can't read your mind, Lila; now take these, get Shea, and go." He ordered as he sat behind his desk. "Hai, Leader-Sama." she said as she stood and bowed, her eyes slightly panicked at the thought that her mind was left open to him.

Shea was lounging on one of the couches, proud of herself that she managed to bring Lila out of her rut, when said girl walked in with a huge stack of papers and scrolls.

"We're on council duty today." The blond told her with a deadpanned expression, causing Shea to groan in displeasure before sighing.

"Fine, but we need to leave now before they get tired of waiting." The brunette told her as she rolled off the couch and took half of the stack from her partner before heading to the door, Lila right behind her.

As they walked they kept the paper clutched closely to their persons to keep them as dry as they could in the rain.

Pein had lessened it to a drizzle but it wasn't that much help as they hiked through the woods to the village.

Their cloaks and straw hats were all the ID they needed as the gates were opened to allow them inside where they walked through the village to the tea shop at a steady pace, keeping up the façade of two ruthless Akatsuki members as they walked up to the table the council always had reserved for their tea time.

"Shea, haven't seen you in a while." One spoke as they sat the papers and scrolls down on the table. "That you haven't." She agreed, not getting into the subject as her face stayed indifferent.

"Who's your friend?" Another asked, "My partner, Lila." She told them simply as one went through the papers, "Is it all here?" he asked, handing her something to sign. "Yes." she answered as she did so, "Are you positive." He questioned, handing her something else. "Yes." She repeated and signed. "Very good." he said and the girls instantly turned and made their way out of the tea shop.

"Wait," one called out to them, causing them to turn and wait. "We need you two to do something for us." He told them with a cocky smile.

"I'm afraid we only follow our leader, if you need something done then you must take it up with him." Shea told him before they left, Lila biting her tongue to follow the order to keep quiet.

"Why was it he seemed far more interested in our chests then the documents in front of him?" She asked. "Because Kuro is a perv." Shea told her with a sigh as they left the village and headed back to base.

When they entered they instantly shed their soaking wet cloaks and hats before Lila got comfy on the couch while Shea went to tell Pein the documents were delivered and signed off to the council.

After doing so she left to her room for a nice shower and twenty minutes later she was clean and on her bed with a nice book.

The blankets were pulled up over her legs as she leaned against a stack of pillows and pulled her knees up so she could sit the book on them.

Her reading, however, didn't last long until she fell asleep; the book falling from her limp hands to the floor with a soft thump.

Kisame found her four hours later when he came to tell her supper was ready. "Shea," he gave her a shake, "You need to come eat something, Imouto." He told her and she moaned in her half asleep daze. "Dun wunna." She sighed as she curled up in her blankets.

"Shea, you barely touched your lunch, you need to eat." He insisted and she sighed in defeat. "Fine," She told him before rolling onto her back. "Carry me." She told him and he chuckled as he picked her up and took her to the kitchen where he sat her in a chair before taking his own.

A second later Deidara entered with Lila on his back, said girl was had her arms around his neck trying to put him in a head lock while he seemed not to notice.

Hating that she was being ignored Lila growled and bit his ear, causing him to yelp and drop her. "Ow!" she whined as she kicked the back of his legs, jumping onto his back when he fell to the floor.

The ordeal was full of hair pulling, blond jokes, and cursing as they battled on the kitchen floor. The only thing stopping them was when Leader entered, successfully breaking the two up and having them sit on opposite sides of the table as they ate.

Shea was still drowsy, only eating because her Nii-San asked her too before going back to bed, the effects of having an emotional partner crawling into her bed at ungodly hours the past four nights.

Everyone else other then Pein, Konan, and Zetsu, who left to go their own things, gathered in the living room to goof off and waste time.

Shea could hear from her room the precise moment Lila and Deidara decided to continue their battle that was so rudely interrupted at lunch and had to place sound barriers around her room so she could get some sleep.
