Thanks for the reviews on the last chapter! This one is shorter than the last but I am working on picking up the pace of the story.

Disclaimer: I don't own Harry Potter

As the month of August was coming to an end, Artemis found herself back in Diagon Alley with Kingsley getting school supplies; they would be meeting the Potters and Teddy for lunch at the Leaky Cauldron later in the day. As they walked out of Madam Malkin's Artemis was ran into by Derek.

"Watch where you're going." Said Derek

"Watch where I'm going? You're the one that ran into me! You should watch where you're going!" Artemis snapped

"You know you're not very intimidating." Snarled Derek

"Oh really?" said Artemis as her hair began to turn black

"Yeah, you're walking around with Kingsley; my father lets me walk around by myself."

"So what, I happen to like spending time with Kingsley."

"I bet your parents would be thrilled." Said Derek with a smirk

"Don't you talk about my parents." Artemis snarled she could feel her teeth beginning to sharpen as she glared at Derek

"Ready to go Artemis?" said Kingsley as he came out of the store with their purchases

"Yeah." Said Artemis as she glared at Derek once more before following Kingsley

"What was that all about?" asked Kingsley as they walked in the Potions Store

"Nothing."

"Right, of course your hair just decided to turn black on its own then?"

Artemis rolled her eyes as she turned her hair back to the purple it had been before, she then grabbed the potions ingredients that she needed so that they could leave. As they left the store Kingsley ran into a co-worker and they began talking. Artemis stood there for a bit before getting an idea.

"Um can I meet you in Flourish and Blotts?" Artemis asked Kingsley

"Sure." Said Kingsley as he went back to talking to his co-worker

Artemis headed down the Alley and slipped into an old bookstore to look for an ancient rune books. As she walked down the shelves looking for the books she got the odd sense that she was being watched. Turning around she discovered that no one was behind her. Artemis reached the section of ancient runes book and began to look for the one she came for, once again she had an odd feeling and once again no one was there. Spotting the book she wanted, she reached out to grab it and as she was bring it down from the shelf a voice came from behind her.

"Why if it isn't the little half-breed." Said a harsh voice

Artemis spun around and dropped the book she had grabbed to look at the person. He stood around 6ft and had short black hair, he was sneering down at Artemis.

"Who are you?" said Artemis

"None of your business." Said the man as he approached Artemis

"Then why are you talking to me?" asked Artemis as she backed up and ran into the bookcase behind her

"To tell you to watch your back at school this year or you're going to end up with a furry little problem." He snarled out the response as he got eve closer to Artemis "Oh and you're brother too."

Artemis' eyes went wide in fear as she paled slightly, before anything else could be said another voice appeared.

"Mr. Flint what exactly are you doing?" came the drawling voice of a man

Mr. Flint jumped back from Artemis at the sound of the voice and looked at the man.

"Nothing at all Mr. Malfoy, we were just having a discussion." Said Mr. Flint

"Oh I see and do all of the discussions you have with people involve them being scared out of their minds." Said Mr. Malfoy as he walked closer to the two

"Only the conversations I have with blood traitors and half-breeds." He said as he looked at Artemis

"I don't want to hear those words come from your mouth again!" snapped Mr. Malfoy as he placed himself between Artemis and Flint

"Soft in your old age Lucius, defending those beneath us?" said Flint

"I'll defend those who deserve it and you are not one of those people." Said Lucius

"You'll regret this, both of you." Said Flint as he turned around and stormed out of the store

Lucius bent down and pick up the book Artemis had dropped; he looked at it before handing it back to her.

"The Runes at Stonehenge huh? Sounds interesting." said Lucius as he handed the book to Artemis

"Um thanks, I'm sort of interested in runes." Said Artemis hesitantly as she took the book from him

"Are you taking the class at Hogwarts?" asked Lucius as they walked towards the front of the store

"I'm going into my second year so not yet but I am planning on signing up to take it for third year." She said as she paid for the book

"Oh I see, Narcissa hadn't mentioned what year you were in, are you here with someone?" asked Lucius

"Kingsley. I told him that I would meet him in Flourish and Blotts." Answered Artemis as they walked out of the shop

"I'll accompany you; I wouldn't want Flint to show up again."

"Um thanks."

The pair made their way down the street. Artemis kept glancing at Lucius every now and then. He was walking right next to her and the way he held himself reminded her of the way her grandma held herself, standing tall and straight, head held high looking straight forward. However, Artemis did notice that he would glance at her from time to time, like he was concerned that she would disappear on him or something. They reached Flourish and Blotts and as they walked in were greeted by not just Kingsley but Andromeda as well.

"Artemis! Where were you, we were so worried." Exclaimed Andromeda as she pulled Artemis away from Lucius into a big hug.

"I was in the old bookstore down the road." Answered Artemis as she tried to get out of the hug

"Lucius." Said the firm voice of Kingsley with a nod of his head

"Hello Kingsley." Said Lucius inclining his head

"Lucius, what are you doing here?" said Andromeda as she finally acknowledged her brother-in-law

"I was in the bookstore Artemis was in when I noticed Flint talking to her, so I went over and made him leave the store." Explained Kingsley

"Flint was talking to you! Marcus Flint." Said Andromeda worriedly to Artemis

"Yeah, he just came up behind me, Mr. Malfoy talked to him and made him leave." Explained Artemis

"Well, thank you then Lucius." Said Andromeda sharply

"You're welcome Andromeda. I'd do anything for family, now I must be going. Good luck in school Artemis." Said Lucius

Andromeda raised her eyebrow at that comment but she did not say anything.

"Thanks again Mr. Malfoy." Said Artemis as Lucius left Flourish and Blotts

"Um Gran what did he mean about doing anything for family?" asked Artemis as she looked at Andromeda

"I'll tell you when we get back home." Said Andromeda curtly

Artemis got the books she need from Flourish and Blotts and then the three headed to the Leaky Cauldron for lunch with the Potters and Teddy.

That night Andromeda explained to Artemis about what happened to her when she was younger.

"So Lucius is my great uncle?" asked Artemis who was sitting at the kitchen table in Andromeda's house with a mug of hot coco

"Yes."

"Do I have to call him that?"

"I don't believe so as Narcissa didn't say to call her great aunt or even aunt."

"Okay, why don't you like him?"

"That will be a story for another day."

"Really!"

"Yes, when we explain the war to you and Teddy you'll understand."

"Fine."

"Now get to bed, we need to leave by 10:30 tomorrow morning, and you still need to pack."

"Okay Gran, night."

"Good night."

Artemis headed upstairs, excited to go back to school tomorrow.

They reached the platform on time and soon after saying good bye to everyone, Artemis and Teddy got on the train and found a compartment.

"Did you know that we're related to the Malfoys?" Artemis asked Teddy as they placed their trunks in the overhead racks and sat down waiting for the others

"We are?" said Teddy surprised

"Yeah, Narcissa Malfoy is Gran's younger sister, I met her a few weeks ago." Explained Artemis

"Why didn't anybody tell me this!"

"I don't know, I think Narcissa's husband Lucius did something in the past though because Gran doesn't like him much."

"What did he do?"

"No one will tell me! They keep saying that I need to wait till we're told about the war but I don't want to wait."

"Yeah, Harry says that whenever I ask about what happened to our parents."

"I wonder what they aren't telling us."

All of a sudden the door to their compartment opened up and Derek walked in.

"Well if it isn't the two little half-breeds."

"What do you want?" snapped Teddy

"Just wanted to let you know that I'll be around more often this term." Said Derek with a smirk

"And what does that bloody mean?" asked Artemis

"Let's just say that my dad gave me a job."

"You know I met your dad in a bookstore this summer, he didn't seem to like my great uncle too much." Said Artemis

"And who would your great uncle be?"

"Lucius Malfoy." Artemis said with a smirk

Derek paled slightly, "Well he won't be able to help you." Said Derek

"We'll just see about that." Said Artemis

"What the bloody hell are you doing here Derek." A voice snarled from the hallway. Derek whipped around and came face to face with a mad Charles.

"Just visiting a fellow Ravenclaw." Said Derek

"Really? Well why don't you go and visit someone else." Snarled Charles who pulled Derek out of the compartment before going in and slamming the door shut.

"Thanks for getting rid of him." Said Teddy as Charles sat down next to Artemis

"No problem, you would think that a jerk like him would be in Slytherin not Ravenclaw." Said Charles

"You would think. Who knows what that crazy old hat was thinking." Said Teddy

The group caught up with each other and soon the rest of their friends joined them as the train made its way towards Hogwarts and another year of school.
