Chapter 21
Collins sat in front of David. He was out of words, there was so much more to say, but he'd been talking since the previous night and now he couldn't go on.
"I love you," David told him.
"I love you too."
"Look, I get that you've been through a lot. You've lost a lot of people you've loved. I've always understood that and I was patient and understanding and I waited for your love. When it came I was the happiest man on earth but- "
"Yes."
"What?" David was thrown from his well-practiced speech.
"I said yes. Yes to commitment, yes to children, and yes to a future together."
David stared in disbelief. Collins continued. "I love you and I never thought I'd feel this way again. I've thought about us, I've stayed up nights thinking about us. I even had a talk with Angel about this. I kept thinking and thinking and the one thing that kept popping up in my head is that I love you, and I don't want to lose you."
"I don't want you to do this because of me, or because you feel forced," David said.
Collins shook his head. "I want to do this because there is no one else I'd rather have with me on this adventure. I want to spend my life with you."
David's eyes teared up and he got up so he could sit next to his boyfriend, his fiancé.
"I love you."
Collins smiled and said, "I love you too." They leaned into each other and kissed.
He was so happy to have the weight of this decision lifted from his shoulders. He was happy to be with David.
